  • Hi everyone and welcome to the channel
In this week's video I decided to see if my 1500 watt Kings inverter could run mu induction cooker. So never having tried or done this before I set out to give it a go.
I know induction cooking is not new but with such a small inverter I wanted to see if it could be done, even if it was just to get you out of trouble in the wind.
Come with me to see how I go.
I hope you enjoy this clip.

Surely that shirt would have given you some extra power ⚡️

Good test mate, Love the river location it would be great spot to camp and wet a line. Cheers

No camping at that one but there’s a campground not far away with equally good access to the river. Cheers Steve

    Nice one muddy
I run a 2000w inverter and induction in the Y62
    It’s great on windy days
    Thanks for sharing mate 👍

Cheers from South Australia. We take out our fry pan and cook bacon and eggs when out trekking. We have the kings 2500 invertor, runs fine and we have been around a few places now..

Nice mate, I figured it would be interesting to see if an inverter that’s not meant for the job could still get it done. Cheers Steve

I'm thinking for induction cooking ,you need a 3000watt inverter to fully use that 200 watt power of the cooker .just a heads up KickAss have a ''Quickfire Portable 600W Electric BBQ'',it's a flat hotplate 240v ,comes apart foe easy washing ,for those of us that don;t have big inverters. Cheers Steve👍👍👍

I’m aware mate, lol. I just thought I’d try this for fun. Next build has much bigger inverter. But was a fun test. Cheers Steve

Are you running lithium or agm batteries.. As AGM dont do inverters very well at all ...Because of the huge voltage drop.. Just a thought .. Australian 4×4 Adventures gives the kings 1500 and 3000 watts a real hammering and cant falt them .. And he is renowned for slamming kings gear ..

I am aware of Steve's run with them. I have 2 DCS lithiums under bonnet connected to the inverter with 0 gauge cable. I don't actually know the cookers power draw at the settings on the front, so for all I know 800 may be 1400 watts. It was fun to try and further down the track I will try it again on a new future set up. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve

Reviews I did on the 3000 W inverter all gave glowing reports, however it was simply too big to fit where I wanted it. So I fitted the 1500 W inverter. Yet to really put it to the test. Easter weekend in Barrington Tops will be the system test.

I have the same inverter, with a shunt to show me how much power it is pulling from the battery. i have a cheap Kmart $50 microwave, that's advertised at 700W, but while cooking it pulls 1360W, i think you will find the 800 setting on your cooker is most likely pulling 1600W, and yes the microwave works great, pulling a max of 109A from the battery, well within my 240A max.

Well, Stev, I think I'll stick to my gas that induction cooking. It's not for me. Thanks for video

Ive seen some people run some heavy stuff of the inverter without any problems. Just putting it out there, how heavy are your power wires to the inverter from the battery. You would think you could run on 1200 at least. Depending on what wire you have I looked up and a 0 gauge wire of 200 amp at 12v takes 1800 watt of power. Now that might have nothing to do it for all I know. Interesting outcome with a tasty result. Nice to see my sticker on the back of your car.

Running 0 gauge as well mate, so dunno, but as I said I don’t really know the numbers for the cook top. A bit of fun to see if it works. Cheers Steve

There should be some indication on the cooker as to what power it draws .. Is there a sticker that states the cooker draw .. ?? @@MudducksTouringAustralia

Mate ya had it cooked at 12mins in 👍 take out fluffin around and not having ya ingredients at the ready I’d say that was a resounding successful attempt to cook Breakfast, , slow and steady gets ya non-burnt Bacon 🥓 and Eggs 🍳. Thanks for the real life testing done under horrendous weather conditions and the determination to get it done ✅ lol 🤪🤪

Thanks mate, you're right I should have prepped better lol. Cheers Steve

No prep needed mate be just the same as if you just pulled up at camp after a days drive and was getting ready ! Other than finding the sweet spot on the induction cooker that the inverter was happy to sustain . Now ya know ya can cook with what you have if you ever run out of GASS ? Won’t have that problem with ya new set up in sure 👍

hi steve i have a 1500w inverter with the same induction cooker and 200amp lithium battery and it runs on 1200W ok the inverter is power hungry have a great time

it seems the cheap Kings inverter is advertising the max 1500W of power draw from your battery, and the more expensive ones advertise the true power delivery

Shouldn't be as the 2 batteries are cranking rated but its possible. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve
