I just don’t understand what the incentive is to buy it. By the time you’ve paid for the console, disk drive, stand and a years worth of PSN your at almost a grand. You could build a brilliant PC for that kind of money.
@@gp63 Exactly! I’m sure the Pro will outperform a £700 PC but it would be close and by the time you factor in the extra cost of the disc drive etc you could definitely get a more powerful PC.
@@junkdnareviews2515No doubt it is a great bit of kit, but you can get a 4060 ti build for similar money and that has the benefit of DLSS. My only gripe with the PS5 is the justification around the cost.
I genuinely feel like Sony just casually ushered in the end of console gaming. Based on what this new model can apparently do, they basically gave us the PS4 Pro Pro back in 2020, followed by the PS4 Pro Pro Slim. This "PS5 Pro" is just the PS5 😂 They've lied to us this whole generation. No wonder they're still supporting PS4 games 🤣 Just disrespectful tactics. Worried about what this could mean for the PS6 now. I see myself just owning the Switch 2 and a Steam Deck or similar in the future 👌🏻
I am not surprised Sony is pushing the envelope when it comes to the pricing of their console. During the pandemic at least here in the US, scalpers were buying up all the PS5’s and then selling them online and on facebook market place for between $800-1200. You can bet that Sony was paying attention to that and seeing what people were willing to spend.
I can't get my head around anyone preferring PS to Xbox these days due to cost alone. The hardware is more, the subscription is more, no work arounds exist for cheaper VPN purchases and they try to lock you into their own little world at every opportunity. The PS does have some great exclusives but as you've said previously PS5 exclusives are lacking... I bought a PS5 pretty much for Spiderman 2 alone but damn do I regret that decision. My PS Plus has now expired and I just have f2p games installed because I can't even play multiplayer without a subscription, all consoles need to remove this paid for online play thing it's total rubbish.
I think a big reason console players might resist PC gaming is because they simply don't want to sit at a desk with a 30 inch monitor. They'd much rather relax on their comfy sofa in front of a 60 inch TV surely?
yeah that's absolutley true. You could quite easily set up a PC to your tv. But I hear you, very few would do that. And that's where consoles always won, the ease of use and low bar of entry. Where PS have changed that is setting the bar of entry so high.
Hey guys, a podcast lacking in popular demand talking about a $700 console that also lacks popular demand 😅 Being serious, you're spot on with why Sony is gouging UK/Europe users: the Xbox is not enough of a presence in those areas so they are effectively taking the piss. Yes, Nintendo is there and there is competition as far as time and money, but in the higher end console space its Xbox. And they put no market pressure on Sony outside the US. Its not good for consumers.
yeah I think that's fair. It'll co-exist with the PS6 and I wouldn't be shocked if it was for the entire generation (like apple with the iPhone models)
@@128kbpodcastyeah 100 agree. With the new switch 2 coming out next year that will probably be a closer speck to the ps4/xbox1 than the xbox series x/ps5 so i think naturally your going to get more ps4 style games in terms of how they look and how they play. A lot of big 3rd party devs and especially Sony themselves should be just focusing on the Ps5 though but small indie devs will continue to push ps4 games out for sometime. You also have to look at the ps3 how old that is yet Sony still keeps that online so the ps4 is going nowhere for a while 😅
The ps5 pro, you guys forget console playing esports is big, to me this is what the console should be aimed at, thats the only people who will buy it, or uninformed parents. playstation, drop the 8k bs, call it the fastest esports console
I just went onto a local PC Retailer site here in South Africa and for interest sake picked a bunch of parts for an upper mid tier PC that would mop the floor with the PS5 Pro (RX7900 GRE, Ryzen 5 7600, 800W Coller Master PSU, MSI MOBO, Kingston Fury Beast RAM, MSI case and MSI liquid cooler). It came down to R22,000 incl tax or £950. Just doesnt make any sense...
So the xbox youre thinking of that came with an elite controller, was the vcr style base xbox one. It was called the elite console. It had the hybrid hard disc drive instead of mechanical, and had a larger sized drive, 1tb instead of the base's 500gb. But was never a pro type model as no graphics/gameplay changes were made, just hard drive and it had the elite controller included. That console actually released a week before the elite controller was released by itself, so if you wanted first use of the controller you had to buy the console. I worked at best buy so of course i preordered the console and got the controller, only to list the controller by itself online and immediately sold the controller for $200. Then later the one s released which was 1440p instead of the base xbox ones 1080p, then the one x later released for 4k gaming.

Will that Roger Alley X set up even work ? The eGPU being nvidia and the handheld being AMD means you have to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the graphics cards every dock and undock. I think your only option is AMD GPU in a eGPU set up but I have not looked into it. Inflation’s gone up 21.2% since the ps5 was released. The euro and yen continue to lose value over the dollar. You still have to spend quite a bit more on a pc to match ps5 or ps5 pro’s performance. High tech isn’t getting any cheaper

Yep. The irony is the machine is intended to bridge the base console with PC performance but the price is making people consider going to PC anyway 😂

The upgrades are going to be amazing. GPU upgrade with Ai upscaling allows 4k60fps. You don’t need the stand and physical media is dying out.
