- Welcome to Week #3 of Fire Academy for Unified Fire Authority's Recruit Class #54. This week we focused primarily on fire behavior. The recruits also had lessons on ropes & knots, ladders, and for the first time- they drove our fire engines. The UFA is a full-service fire agency, providing fire suppression, advanced life support, first response and transport, rescue, hazardous materials, bomb response, fire investigation, code enforcement, hazardous materials inspections, and Emergency Management for all of Salt Lake County. UFA is the sponsoring agency of Utah Task Force 1, one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams in the nation, provides Fire Management services for Camp Williams and emergency response for the Utah Data Center.
UFA operates as an independent fire authority under the direction of the UFA Board of Directors. Each of the municipalities appoints one elected official from their municipality to serve on the UFA Board of Directors, with the exception of Salt Lake County who can appoint two elected officials.

Really fun video. Thank you for putting in the extra effort to create these memorable weekly recaps during this busy time. So informative and helpful for outsiders to understand what our friends/families are preparing for. My goodness 1500 ℉ fires with less than a 7 second reaction time; truly human supercomputers in the making! I’ve enjoyed the introductions of each recruit seeing the diverse backgrounds and motivations that prompted these individuals to serve. Good work!

It was cold, but once the storm rolled through it wasn’t too bad. The week before was a lot colder.
When u do force entry next week do you think you can go a little more in depth about it that’s our next chapter in the book videos are helping me out alot
