    For those of you thrown off by this guy saying that you might want to ditch your job so that you can focus on the academy, he is right. I had a good buddy try to juggle both and even though he managed to get by and pass, he regret it. He said he didn't the full effect of things because he was distracted. And this guy was a helluva multitasker, believe me. As for me, I put off the academy for a full year more so that I could bust my ass and pay off my debts, sell my car, buy something reliable and cheap, and then sign up for the academy. I recommend this route. Good luck.

    Bruh I'm in the fire academy right now and this video doesn't even START to explain to you the HELL they put your body through. Today my squad and I did ten Squats with the largest water hose from the fire truck then ten lunges then ten burpies for a good neighborhood block, turned around and did the same thing back to where we started. Guys were out of it and unresponsive. And we didn't stop there. There was basket carries with our luminescent inside, tire pulls, and hose running and pulling. And they're saying we're gonna have to do this in fire gear soon.

      I have genetic back problems at 22. From my father but my grandfather was into enforcement and military background. It’s my dream to become in some sort of career of that sort. But I feel like my body will give out before my mentality does. I’ve been through some serious camps in my time and I have been a very athletic football player , my uncle is a chief and I want to go ahead and start the process but I want to get as much information as possible. Thanks! I hope you are doing well.

    I went thru marine corps boot came then infantry school right after. It's gonna be no different. As a former Marine I can tell you, fire academy, boot camp, whatever. There is absolutely no way to prepare for the mind fuck

    I thank you so much for this video man I start emt school August 19 and I’ve been an athlete all my life I had a daughter 2 years ago so I kinda lost my athletic appearance but I’ve always been doing 200 pushups and 500 crunches and calf raises and 10-12 sets of curls and hammer curls but I still feel like I’m nervous as if I’m not fit enough for the academy I look up videos all day just trying too look for answers and you hit it on the spot I hope and pray I can become a firefighter and be the best I can be 🙏🏾

    In Las Vegas area all fire departments start paying you from day zero of the academy. So you don’t need a second job. Unless you are buried in debt which may disqualify you from getting hired. Better have good credit rating. It’s so competitive in this area that they only hire the best and brightest and “cleanest”. They have to, it cost a ton of money to put ONE recruit through training. He is not kidding, recruits start running daily 5 milers plus aerobic exercises plus weights plus job specific excercises. CCFD receives thousands of applicants when they open the hiring process, and hire 30 with an expected drop out rate of 20% due to injuries, academics, skill failure, and lack of never quit attitude.

    a lot of the time cities and towns have some sort of program for students to do that kind of stuff for example here in yuma Arizona we have a fire fighter co-op program that allows students to do ride alongs and gain experience also explorer programs are sometimes available, but sometimes some fire departments allow ride alongs for the public usually these are the volunteer departments

    Disengaging from work isn’t possible for everyone which is why I’m going part time. Bills still have to get paid and especially given the last few years financial effect you have to do what you have to do.

      That's not how academy works, it's either your family or fire academy. You cannot miss a minute/hrs at an academy. It runs by hours and there's no making up for it, your out.

    • @josea9512
      @josea9512 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is not how it works bunker gear is very expensive and insurance won't cover for your injuries by taking your own gear that's probably used and beat up. That's why every Fire Academy has rental gear that provides safe, clean and trusty gear

      97% of academy’s don’t pay you 3 months of training out of your pocket plus the EMT training

    • @josea9512
      @josea9512 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No Fire Academy pays you here in California. If anything you have to pay for the training. It will pay off in the future when you look for a firefighter position at a fire station.

      Shadaki Wolfen Yeah true but the US Marine Corps doesn't even require 7 minute miles, for most people and most firefighters a 7 minute mile may not be possible, some people in the best shape they will ever be in will never be able to run a 7 minute mile

    • @Lobo59470
      @Lobo59470 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are in any bit of good shape 7:00 minute mile should be easy. For me it is. I run a 5:30 mile but I dont break it down that way. Get a stop watch and time you're laps. A 6 minute mile will require you to run a 1:30 lap. Will be tuff for most but if you finish in 1:00 then you can coast for 30 seconds and Sprint again. This helped me good luck

    Yeah right firefighter boot camp in other words a bunch of civilians playing military wannbees but there's one big difference you can't quit basic training and go home but you free to quit the fire academy anytime you want when you went you can't quit the military but civilian firefighters and police officers are free to walk off their jobs and quit anytime they want just like any other local public employees something you can't do in the military!!!😂😂
