City played 4 Premier League matches without Rodri last season. They won 1 match and lost the other three. Over the course of a long season, Rodri is the glue for City that keeps them ticking. Nobody should attempt to disrespect him, seriously. Because he has been one of the best players in the entire world for years. Anyone who doubted Rodri because he is slow, they have never watched Busquet play. Rodri has been the best and most consistent player for City over the past 3 seasons, also for Spanish national team. He deserves to win this award.
Rodri and Busi may be similar in pace, but Rodri is stronger, so defensively I'd say Rodri is even better than Busquets, would you agree?

I think they misunderstood what he meant by the role being "bigger". Remember English is not his native language. What he most likely meant is that a CDM has more duties to fulfill than a striker.
He has to read the game, both directions...has to stop the opps and breakdown their attacking play, whilst often also starting his own team's attacks...as someone who went from a 9 to a 6 when I lost my pace, I can attest that the cdm position requires a lot more strategic thinking during the game.
One thing about Rodri he's very talkative and ESPN should hire him after his time on pitch 😂😂😂😂

Rodri is a good player, but people wouldn‘t talk about him 10-20 years ago the way they they are doing now. The level of midfielders, especially DM, was much higher in previous eras. Apart from Rodri there is not one single player, who can play the lone 6 role on a world-class level. Back then you had the likes of Makélélé, Pirlo, Busquets etc. but the most complete No.6 was the best Real Madrid player in the 90s and people barely talk about him when mentioning the best to ever play this position: Fernando Redondo could dictate the game, dribble, pass and was good defensively.

90s also had Sammer and Keane as elite DMs. Also, how about Edgar Davids? Pirlo never played a "lone 6" role, since he had Gattuso with him. Busi btw played in a double pivot role alongside Xabi Alonso for Spain, he played as a "lone 6" for Barca, a role he sometimes struggled in, I feel, since Barca as a whole got defensively vulnerable after Pep left.

He's correct. There are an excess of goalscorers in world football at club level. We've seen non-strikers also contribute goals over the course of a season (Bellingham, Gundogan, Grimaldo, for example) and in big games (Spain's midfielders for example). Holding midfield position however has under 5 elite players in the entire world.

Collective awards are bigger; however, it's also good to be seen and recognized, especially when you're in a team that is not the best. There are different roles on the pitch. That's why I believe the Best XI should be it. Best players in each position. If not, 99 % of the times it will be a foward winning it.

Holding midfield is not more important than any other position. These guys don't want go against Rodri coz they like him. Julian Alvarez is a number 9 so if he played in place of an injured Haaland, they had a sticker in the team scoring the goals which won them the titles. If they have the best midfield but can't score goals it would be like Enrique's Spain team which controlled the games but didn't score goals and therefore won no titles, simple math.

In my opinion, the Ballondor award should be 4 each year, one for defenders one for midfielders and one for strikers, and maybe one for keepers... by giving just one award means that a whole lot of deserving players are automatically excluded just because of the position they play, in a way, this is discrimination. There should be a fair criteria to access the best player in each position/compartment lf the field thereby giving every player a fair chance of recognition.
