Carvahal. He won both trophies and was indispensable for both teams. Rock solid on defense (not one mistake in all those big games), surgical with his passes, and clinical with headers. This is a fluffing no brainer.🍺
@@samizayn5666 he is crucial for Spain, my dude. The fact that every replacement did a great job doesn't mean he isn't needed. He is the best in his position and Spain doesn't doesn't have any player anywhere near his level to replace him, at least for now. In case you have forgotten, the player who replaced him was 38 year old Navas...
Is it just me or why do I feel like Rodri could end up winning the Ballon Dor over Vinicius Junior. Don’t get it twisted, Vini is still a genuine contender to win this award and given what he did last season, he was the best player in the world when it came to the champions league and his decisiveness in a lot of big games stepping up for Real Madrid time and time again when it mattered the most, getting important goals and assists and he was reliable every time his team needed him. As good of a player he is, what’s going to cost him the Ballon Dor is his poor performances at international level and that’s because historically speaking, he has struggled for Brazil and he’s a different player every time he plays for the national team and this is something that voters are going to take into consideration as this has led to people saying that he’s a systems player and he’s overrated with his inability to perform outside of Ancelotti’s system at Madrid. Outside of international football, Vini ticks all the boxes to be the best player in the world just from watching him produce magic on the pitch. Not to mention that he was injured for most of the season and after the turn of the year he was cooking, last time I checked, until his masterclass performances in the champions league in both legs of the semifinal against Bayern Munich which was the final month of the season, he wasn’t even in the conversation for the Ballon Dor up until that point. It’s not entirely his fault I get it, Brazil are dealing with bigger issues when it comes to their cohesion and their tactical setup and he cannot be blamed for that, also it’s difficult for a player to replicate their club form with the national team, at the same time, he’s in the “best player in the world” conversation and he could potentially win the Ballon Dor and regardless of how he performs at club level as that alone makes him one of the best players in the world with how he’s excellent for Real Madrid week in week out and has been the best player in the champions league post Ronaldo, but he needs to start stepping up for his country.

He won Copa America, being the best player for Argentina, top goal scorer with 5 goals (Late winning goal in the final) as a substitute! But the reason why he cant be ahead is because his PR is very low, also his performance in UCL was very poor! Give it to Carjaval since he both won Euro, UCL and La Liga. Played a major role in all the trophies. And had 13 G/A as a defender!
A guy with a terrible track record with national team shouldn't even be top 3 objectively . I mean not winning it is understandable but 5 goals in entire career?😂

I don't know why everyone has a problem with vini winning the ballon d'or. dude was the ucl Pott and they gave him that for a reason. His impact on madrid winning ucl and laliga was big. I understand the thing people dislike about his attitude and stuff. Rodri was also expectional, maybe more in last season compared to this season but why there was no agenda against haaland to not win it.because there was certain lionel messi to blame on . People love having a hatred agenda against someone specifically, when it comes to these awards in football.
Reporters pls don't drop the ball this time,Rodri is the man for Ballon D'Or.Just to watch him being busy in the midfield and the way he does it is just marvellous
Atp I feel for Vini bro because it feels no matter what it's going to Rodri because despite achieving so much last season it's feel as if he even won't make the podium. I think his attitude that persons don't like on the pitch got him here that ppl other his teammates don't support him. It's crazy that Rodri wasn't even even 10 top for Balon Dor shouts until Spain won the Euros and Brazil struggling at Copa. Foden won PFA player of the year and had better performances in UCL and went to the euro finals and his teammate is getting Balon Dor shouts ?
Yeah just like Bellingam was Laliga player of the season , Vini getting glaze for Ucl ? Rodri was as important as any player for City's Pl win. So it all comes down to Euro . The Euro pott has a better chance than Vini who failed again with National team ? I mean Bellingam have a better claim than Vini by your logic
I find it quite fascinating that you Espn guys were putting Foden's name forward by the end of the season and all of a sudden, Rodri is now being put forward as Man City's best player last season
If Vini was a Man City player they would say he deserves it but because he's a Real Madrid player, they ignore him and hate just because they can. He's been influential all season. Even Jude is above Rodri.
😂 if u think 36 GA as a forward is better than 26 GA as a dm Then u need serious doc treatment mate. Madrid best and most consistent player was Kroos not vini lol. Just like rodri was out for few games city struggles same Kroos out Madrid starts struggling against relegation teams. Where is vini now? 7 games this season 0 npg Is 😂 this your ballan dor ? I rather see Kroos or rodri winning it rather than few match wonder vini
Ballon D'or was never awarded due to "consistency". It has always been about the most outstanding player of the season. And Rodri wasnt that guy... he was not Man City's best player (Foden), wasnt Spain's best player (Yamal, Nico, Fabian Ruiz, Olmo)... there was no big moment from him. Just raw consistency and that was it. On the other hand, Vini had several big moments in the season. In UCL, La Liga and Spanish Super cup. That's what makes a Ballon Dor worth player. The guy who marked the season with great moments, contributing to big titles. And he was that guy in all 3 titles Madrid won in the season
@@niyimoses3061it was Rodri. If we can admit that the ballon dor is a PR/ popularity contest why can’t you admit the player of the tournament award is the same? Rodri wasn’t the best player of Spain, he wasn’t the best player in the Spanish midfield either. He got subbed OUT of the team at halftime and they started winning. You don’t sub out your best/most essential player at half time. Idc how many times vini fails a dribble we don’t sub him out cuz eventually he will beat his man and provide a moment of brilliance to a decisive moment in the game
@@MrISkater he won the ucl being the best player in the midfield and took Croatia a country of 4 mil to a World Cup final? Playing as a CAM, Box to box and CDM like the legends Di Stefano. The modric who cooked both psg with messi, mbappe and neymar. Cooked kdb at man city to the point that he had get subbed out in the 70th minute at the ripe age of 37? That Modric didn’t deserve it? Come on dude you are just anti madridista. Champions league is the only competition that every one of them play and World Cup. Euro does not have every player in it. Lautaro Martinez won the serie a with historic record for club at inter, he wins with decisive never and instrumental last minute goals for a copa trophy. Why does Rodri deserve it?
In terms of international football, whether people like it or not, Rodri has an edge over Vini in the Ballon Dor race. I said just international football since he won the EUROs as the player of the tournament meanwhile Vini flopped at the Copa America and has continued to be poor for Brazil and no one has taken any accountability for his underwhelming performances for his national team. As a defensive midfielder, he has a chance of being the first player in the premier league since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 to win this prestigious individual award and it’s been a long time since a CDM has touched a Ballon Dor. The entire season has to be taken into consideration not just a major tournament, he’s not a better player than him, he was much more consistent than him throughout the season. As a CDM who’s responsible for holding down the midfield and stopping attacks, he had 9 goals and 14 assists 23 G/A in all competitions last season and he played a key role in Manchester City winning the Premier League as he was undefeated in every league game he played in and most of their losses came when he didn’t play. They wouldn’t have won the league without him as they were up against an Arsenal team that was excellent and for most of the season, before Liverpool bottled the league, it was a 3way race for the title. It’s a testament to his footballing ability consistency and influence that whenever he plays, they barely lost a game as excluding penalties, he was unbeaten in 74 consecutive games in regular time. Due to the fact that his team was knocked out of the Champions League and he wasn’t even Manchester City’s best player throughout the, going into the EUROs, Rodri wasn’t in the conversation for the Ballon Dor, but we know how impactful recency bias and major tournaments have on the voting. Spain won the EUROs and he was player of the tournament and for me, he was their most important player and he did play well in a couple of games, I wouldn’t say he was their best player as someone like Lamine Yamal could’ve easily been player of the tournament and anyone on that team could’ve won it over him. As I said before, yes there’s a good case for Vini or Bellingham to win the Ballon Dor since Real Madrid won the Champions League and they were pivotal to their success, since neither of them were impactful for their national teams at the major tournaments just like a lot of contenders, Rodri could win it over them and while international competitions shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when determining the best player in the world, it’s an international year and at times it’s played a significant role in the Ballon Dor race meaning that a player can have a great season for their club, but half of the season on top of that is also about what they do in a major tournament for their country (EUROs or the Copa America).

In terms of international and club football, Carvahal is well more successful than Rodri no matter how anybody wants to spin it. In fact, bringing Rodri close to Carvahal is insult to Carvahal.
international football is a worse product than league and champions league football. it's teams of players that only play together a few times per year. the quality is always less than what club teams produce. so why are we valuing how well someone plays with their international team as much or more as their club teams, when club games are played at a higher level? makes no sense.
i think the way vinicius is disrespected same with rodrygo and now even mbappe is legit why pundits and football fans are so disliked and frankly hated . vinicius is a winger that gets constantly fouled every game its a miracle he hasnt been injured for months every year and despite that he still absolutely smashed it in the champions league alongside rodrygo and bellingham not to mention la liga where he plays with opponents defences
These people went from Jude and Vini who will have a better summer tournament to Rodri without any shame. Bro is good but wasn’t even the best player in the Spanish team. This award is so biased. I won’t be surprised if we have a new category “best winger”. Like they did with best striker when everyone knew who deserved it a last year. This is an individual award and all these pundits are now saying team sport like we are awarding the best player.
Let's see. Rodri was knocked out from the Champions League quarter-final (by Vinicius) and lost the FA Cup final against poor United side. Then, for some reason he is praised for the Euros when he wasn't even the best Spanish player. That was a collective effort and players such as Carvajal, Fabian Ruiz, Olmo, Williams, Yamal were on his level or better. He was injured in the final, and in the second half nobody even noticed his absence. Also, the Euros are not as important as the World Cup. Giving him the Golden Ball would be as ridiculous as giving it to Jorginho in 2021, he just doesn't deserve it. He shouldn't even be in the top three. The podium should belong to Vinicius, Bellingham, and Carvajal. The first two were the best, the most decisive players of the season and Carvajal won the most.

The biggest Bs here is the campaign. Where are panel members that think Vini should win it? It is so one sided it becomes plainly obvious what the problem is. Get it together ESPN
Stevie's right, but then what about Norway? They have the best striker in the world and one of the best attacking midfielders who's also a great captain, yet they can't win games, can't create chances and are just painful to watch. Adding a Rodri to that would make a huge difference IMO. I think all positions are equally important, but depending on the manager's tactics and maybe individual player's talent/presence, certain positions might shine more in different teams.

Goalkeeper will always be the toughest position on the pitch. As someone once pointed out, a striker can misplace a dozen passes, miss 5 or 6 big chances but all can be forgiven if you score last minute winner. In fact someone else can score that winner. A goalie doesn't have the luxury to make a dozen mistakes. You can have the best 89 minutes imaginable, but all it takes is one mistake to do away with all the good work. Few can remember how many saves David Seaman made at all the international tournaments he played or against Brazil at the 2002 world cup. Few if any remember any chances missed by strikers at these tournaments or in that Brazil game. But many will remember him being lobbed by Ronaldinho from afar. 20 years as a professional. Over 1,000 games for club and country. 3 league titles. Numerous other cups. But what people remember is that one mistake in that one game.

But the reason why he cant be ahead is because his PR is very low, also his performance in UCL was very poor!
ESPN's bias to premier league players is insane , that guy is not a transcendent player , not a decisive player , top 5 Man City player and not even top 3 last season , he did not play the most football , did not invent stuff , did not do anything extra ordinary , he does what he does in a perfect way but does not influence the game and carry it on his shoulders please ffs if this guy wins the Balon D'or it will be the joke of the century , Vini should 100% win it , the guy carried the team on his shoulders in a lot of the critical games last season , transcended a lot of games , carried the team on his shoulders , what are we talking about .
Only barca fan wants Rodri to be the ballon d’Or winner and they say he won Europe cup, but even in this case, Carvacal has both champions league and Europe cup, so he deserve even more than Rodri, the reason because they don’t want anyone from Real Madrid to win the ballon d’Or

Rodri was the best player for both club and country last season period! Messi won it last year because of an international trophy even though he was a non factor at club level, so clearly, international trophies are more important for BalonDor. If it was just about goals and club trophies, Haaland had everything in his debut season to win last year. If the BalonDor is judged fairly and with consistent metrics, then Rodri is the clear winner!
@@LionKingMCFC When Neymar was killing with Brazil and Messi doing nothing NOBODY cared about the international teams...Now suddenly everybody care just to take the ballon dor from Vini LOL.
@sasukebyak wasn't the last one won on world cup performance... this is an international tournament year. Being a by-product of madrids' success is one thing , I'm just looking at the player outside that system. Brazil couldn't get out of the group stage and are in trouble of not making the World Cup. That's Brazil, the greatest international team in history. What has vini done to be compared to Neymar, and he didn't win it.

@@AlexB3333 the most important tournament was euros for rodri and coppa for vini. Rodri was the man of the tournament and vini was completely invisible
I don't watch the EPL but I keep tabs at the top clubs, their players, style, etc. What surprises me is that when you talk about Man City and their midfield, no one ever mentioned Rodri over KDB. Like, no one even talked about Rodri (his goal in the UCL final really sparked his talk), but no one mentioned it until Vini was considered the clear favorite. Granted, the timing of the International Tournaments came into play. The other thing that doesn't sit well with me, that the measuring factor that puts Rodri in the conversation is his trophies that he lifted this year given more weight because of the Euro... well if we apply that same factor across the board then the favorite should be Carvajal. Carvajal matched Vini's highest accolades last year and bettered Rodri's.
That's not a way to start an argument 😂. Infact I heard more of Rodri than anyone else even with Spain. He is like the most crucial cog, there's even a record of City never losing with Rodri. You make things up for your convenience In Madrid people shout for Bellingham over Vini from the start of Laliga. I heard more of him except for Ucl. I keep tabs too. The biggest flaw in this argument is forwards always gets shouts because their job is scoring goals. The one who scores goals always make the headlines. Vini failed with Brazil , 5 goals in entire brazil career . I mean Yamal has more goal contribution in one Euro😂
Vinicius performances with Brazil in the last year are too poor. Madrid combined Bellingham+Vini+Kross did well not extraordinary. Rodri has been all class, best midfielder in the world and deserves this golden ball.
Carvajal deserves it he won everything this season including scoring in the champions league final. I hate the guy but hes definitely desering of the award.
Rodri is very imp but I think Fabian and winger were best in Euro Cup. However, they are mentioning as if Vini do not get involved at all in Real Madrid and just score and assist. Rodri has been best for City so is Vini for Real. He just does not score, he runs for long passes, counter attacks, dribbles, assist and score goals.
All real fans and people who played the game understands that the center midfielder is the engine of the team. On ESPN FC, the panel dissects Rodri's interview with Mark Ogden and then discuss his odds to win the Ballon d'Or.

And then there is Rodri, Haaland, Foden, and Debryne all ahead of him from last season. Listen if he wins the Ballon D’or, i am not saying it wouldn’t be fair. But i think Vini did more to get it. Why is this even up for discussion? As great as Vini has been hes been completely MIA for brazil. All brazil had to do was make it to the finals and for vini to have played and he would be clear favorite, same with bellingham, if england had made it to the finals or won he woukd have been top 2 as well. All top 3 candidates had outstanding years and played a key role for their teams at club level in winning trophies. But Rodri takes the nod cos spain also won the euros with Rodri playing key roles (even though he wasnt their best player)
is Rodri even Man City's most important player? he might be in terms that they have no defensive midfielder who can replace him. but i think Haaland and De Bruyne are better players relative to their position. and Rodri wasn't even close to Spain's best player in the Euros despite winning player of the tournament. i thought Fabian, Olmo, and Yamal were all clearly more important for Spain. Vini has struggled with Brazil but for Madrid he's clearly the most important player and they won La Liga and won the Champions League - beating City along the way. so Vini deserves to win, imo.
I swear football knowledge keeps dying as time goes by..the fact that Saka, Palmer, Rice and some overhyped prem players are in the podium is beyond me..stats have destroyed the magic in the game..Now a player can be shite, get in some goal or assist then he gets POTM award.. Benzema was right..I hate stats players more than anything and they are all in Prem ; KDB, Salah and Saka ..Stats padding players
All these crybabies crying about Vini. Vini is cursed with insane talent. But he is also cursed with inconsistency and a lack of mental toughness, which is why that virtually every major club in Europe would choose Rodri over Vini if they had the chance to have one on their team. That is fact! Vini is only good when he is playing with his All-Star Real Madrid teammates who make it easy for him to score. Put him on the field with his national team, Brazil, and his becomes average at best. He himself admits that he has not stepped up for Brazil. His teammate on both teams, Rodrygo, has been better on both teams that Vini. Put Rodri on any team and he is in total control. Not giving him the Balon D'Or would be pure robbery.
Woow lol the Vinicius hate is too hate, they said all this to justify why Rodri should win. Even as Mbappe supporter if Mbappe doesn’t win, I think Vinicius deserves it more than Rodri.
Can you pls share the same lights with Vini? Just like you are doing with Rodri?..Goodness me! Madrid aint winning the last 2 champions league without him! And if you're looking at the international what happens to Carvajal?... Rodri was replace at the final of the Euros and he's replacement did better too.. dat means it aint Rodri, it is the system of the team.. tired of this debate already
Vini exposé’s himself for the fraud he is whenever he plays for Brazil 🤣 he’s just a system merchant who’s not got the football ability to break a defensive structure when he hasn’t got yards to run in, even Rodrygo is more technically gifted in tight spaces
Kroos has been more consistent and better than Rodri for years even before he got to city. We’re not going to act like rodri is a generational talent just because city don’t have a back up cdm. Spain had a back up and ended up winning.
Neymar played the kind of football that vinicius can only dream of, we are not going to act like vini is a generational talent just because he is a brazilian

In case you have forgotten, the player who replaced him was 38 year old Navas...
He is not so important. It's like saying Alvarez should have won BalonDor over Messi for winning the WC and the treble in the same season.
Please review their international teammates bro…lol

Yeah I aren't reading all that😂😂.... whatever it is, congratulations man or sorry it happened 🤝

international football is a worse product than league and champions league football. it's teams of players that only play together a few times per year. the quality is always less than what club teams produce. so why are we valuing how well someone plays with their international team as much or more as their club teams, when club games are played at a higher level? makes no sense.
i think the way vinicius is disrespected same with rodrygo and now even mbappe is legit why pundits and football fans are so disliked and frankly hated . vinicius is a winger that gets constantly fouled every game its a miracle he hasnt been injured for months every year and despite that he still absolutely smashed it in the champions league alongside rodrygo and bellingham not to mention la liga where he plays with opponents defences
Rodri deserved! 100%
😂
🤣

Woow lol the Vinicius hate is too hate, they said all this to justify why Rodri should win. Even as Mbappe supporter if Mbappe doesn’t win, I think Vinicius deserves it more than Rodri.
This Rodri PR is disgusting
He wasnt better than Jude or Vini last season
Vini hates is real.
But Rodrigo is Him.
If you talking about the best player, you are talking about someone you will pay your last money to watch him.
At this moment let's just give it to vini or history will repeat it's self like it happened to Halland.
History will be made. 1st holding midfielder to receive it.
Tell me everything that happened when u wake up from dreaming 😂
@@darktremor172 I saw vini got the award, thankfully it was just a dream
Promoting Rodri because he is Spanish 😂, vini is doing well stop hating on Vini just support your Spanish guy Rodri without destroying Vini
Huh? Why would you think they are promoting him for being spanish??? Talk about being absolutely clueless 🤦
@@l10zzardk1ng2 LoL you own TH-cam now !! We have to ask your permission to comment right 😂😂
@@miguelnehm5791 I missed the part where I told you you can't comment... But I see you have no answer to my question. I guess you're just a weirdo that likes to post completely nonsensical comments. To each his own I guess 🤷
It depends on how much Perez is willing to pay.
How..... Vini won everything last season.... was electric... prem was poor last season..
Rodrigo wasn't the best in the City , that was Debruyne, in the Spain he was bested by at two players , Fabian Ruiz and Lamine yamal...
He is square passing midfielder that's it....
Vini was ineffective in most of last season. Besides the goals in the CL semi and final, he didn't do anything special.
Now come to the Nation's league, guy was worse.
Rodri impacted every Man City game he played both in the PL and CL. Plus won more cups.
Also the best player in the Euros.
1) laotaro
2) rodri
3) carvajal
4) vinicius
5) belingham
Standard of football is fucking cheeks for the last 5 to 8 years...these players wouldn't clean the boots of players 10 or more years ago
Rodri is deserve more than vini this year, or what about lautoro Martinez
Mourinho did with porto nd inter not with elite clubs like barca , bayern nd city and pep still need 10 years to win CL so shut up . Robbo when you buy worlds best players they deliver what tactics you need to when you have haaland , KDB , silva ?
Rodri is the real Goat 🤷
Rodri deserve this time👍
If not Vini, Jude. If not both of them, it’s RACISM. Rodri should not even be part of this conversation but go on…
Thank you!
Yeah both haven't showed up for national team and should rest. Every madrid player should win it be the logic 😂
@@vishnujain7645 Yamal and Nico were way more important to the Spanish team than Rodri, even Carvajal was more important (he took a red card for his team when the opponent almost scored on a counter)
@@TheDYNAMITE001 ya rodri had even no impact in Spain uero team
De Bruyne is the central midfield player in City!!! He makes City tick not Rodri! This is so annoying
But these guys of ESPN have some problems in the their heads
Rodri is great but he was not the best player for city nor spain last season, foden was a beast for city and he got best player at euros because no one knew who fabian ruiz or dani olmo were before the euros, he was only big name left from spain lol
Halaand is the jewel in City’s crown
Rodri has my vote too
Yes, I think so, but my choice is Haaland.
Messi put the word in for Lautaro Martinez to win, ESPN FC just milking content for narratives. 😂
Lol. These guys are clowns.
If its by controlling a game and impact, Bellingham and Toni Kross should be mentioned before rodri.
Vini junior is the only real candidate for balon d or. He impacts the game greatly and making a difference when it counts.
Vini is probably the most hated brazillian player in history. We dont care how good he is even tho he never shows up for brazil. He always plays victim, his antics on the pitch, every1 on the planet is a racist, his crying in interviews and diving on the field
ESPN this illusion for rating vini over Martinez
Vini or dani. No one should win except these. But boy vini on top.
