Amazing.. We LOVE John Deere M and MT's.. We have a lot of the implements. Like 16 plows and several mowers. Love your set up so inspiring.. Best of luck. Larry and Jim in Minnesota
The high crop with the single front, out west where row crops were irrigated the single front wheel run down a row and the back wheels run down rows that the irrigation water was put in, packed down the rows so water would make it to the end of the field worked good on sugar beets, onions, beans etc.
I recently acquired two of the "South Jersey Special" M custom high-crops, two serial numbers apart. They were built by our local Deere dealer in Swedesboro, NJ (South Jersey Implement Co.) in a joint venture with the nearby Slusar's Homestead Supply machine shop, which was also an Allis-Chalmers dealer. The high-clearance M's were designed to compete directly with the Farmall Super AV, which was the best-selling tractor in the region by far. I only know of 12 high-clearance M tractors still in existence (including mine, and two standalone conversion "kits" removed from junk tractors), about half the total number believed to have been built. Most of them were rode hard and likely didn't survive, but they all served as prototypes for the now very collectible 40V, 420V, and 430V models that followed in later years (many of which were shipped to NJ new).
We had serial number 1 of that mower my best friends family has number 2 and 40 years ago the muskingum watershed had number 3. My cousin still has number 1
was sent a link to this video, Hey Drew you filled up the Garage /lower level nicely !! didnt show tho the very cool upper level / private living area of the "barn" ... and or the other "garages " lol ...GL Franko
So there's BIG money in building horsey stuff. I know a guy with 300+ old deere putt putt tractors. I know he has a dozen of those high crops... he has orchard specials, he has paid 40 and 50k apiece for some..
You should go way to Vermont and and see the John Deere tractors mu uncle used to own, he has 2 John- Deers the tires were about 7 feet tall, and the 1 piston and only piston was the size of a 5 gallon bucket!
So, do you ever wonder why people start their sentences with "So?" So yeah, it makes me wonder too. Got lots of beautiful old tractors though, and very well presented.
THERE'S A TRACTOR THAT MY UNCLE HAD IN VERMONT, HE HAD 2 OF THEM, HE TOLD ME THERE WAS ONE PISTON AND IT WAS THE SIZE OF A 5 GALLON BUCKET! DO YOU HAVE ANY TRACTORS THAT SIZE, THE TIRES WERE ALMOST 7 FEET TALL!
