It could have been murder or just an accident, but had he lived longer than his 20-ish years, like most other Pharaohs, he would have undoubtedly been buried in a far more extensive and elaborate tomb. Luckily for us, (and him, really,) it's because his tomb was so small and seemingly insignificant that it managed to escape Millennia of tomb robbers, so that we, here in contemporary times, would be able to discover it untouched and intact. King Tut was filled with many issues due to inbreeding within the family. He died unexpectedly and given that the process of burial only gave about 90 days they had to complete it all. It takes over 30 years for a whole tomb to be completed. So these skilled craftsmen had to do 30 years of work in less than 90 days.
See I thought the same thing. They did tombs for each reigning king as the expectant life they have. King tut died so suddenly I would think they barley had enough time to get the paintings up before he was laid to rest. Plus he was a child, even for those times, so maybe they made it simple so he would get to the underworld much easier then a king who had been around for much longer.

It is also speculated that this was never meant to be his tomb at all. His successor Ay was his overseer during his 9 year reign and basically ran the country himself. His tomb is much more extravagant than that of Tut's and because of this, it is speculated that the tomb of Ay was actually meant for Tut.
It would also back up why his famous death mask was never really his. It is dead that researchers found out that because he died at a early age they took the death mask from another person and placed it on to the head peice for him. It is also known that very recently they found another chamber further along near to his burial chamber filled with other things associated with king tut because they could not get the tomb ready in time for his belongings so they used a already existing one close by. His tomb was also very luckily not looted like the other burial sites in the valley of the dead, leaving a low budget, but clear picture of what a full on burial would have looked like. Maybe he died in an unexpected sooner death, and to my understanding on this video, it said that after death and once it starts to become night, he has to have the instructions on the walls in order to achieve immortality, and it has to happen before sunrise. So maybe the tomb was being prepared and died sooner than expected so it had to be rushed. It was probably different because Pharaohs ordered the making of their own tombs. Because he was so young he hadn’t made one yet, so they had to make one quickly before the next pharaoh.

A small area of the plaster wall separating the sarcophagus room from the treasury room was noted by Carter to have been repaired. It's fascinating all the history we are only uncovering now in the modern era. Who would have believed such things existed. I know that finding the tombs in the Valley Of King’s is a huge part of history and all and it does really fascinate me but I don’t see how any of it’s legal. Well, only 1, out of 100+ pyramids. All pyramids have a tomb in them(under them), and most have funerary texts, and burial artifacts in these tombs, but the tombs may not have been ever intended to be used for actual burial. Many kings built numerous false tombs to keep their actual tombs hidden(It didn't work), so the pyramids may have been built to be more symbolic of the king's tomb, but unbenownst to the public, the king would be buried elsewhere. Pyramids always included a huge complex of temples, monuments, and other tombs surrounding them. People would come honor or worship the dead pharoah believing him to be entombed in or under the pyramid.

The biggest difference is the fact the there is mold on the walls indicating that the tomb was sealed prior to the paint drying, That has never been seen anywhere else to date. It is now believed that the Tomb he was found in was originally for someone else probably the advisor who took the throne after his death. Apparently, the person the Kind had selected to take the throne after him was overseas on a military campaign and one of his advisors had him buried quickly so he could take the throne before King Tutankhamun's Chosen successor returned to Egypt. The advisors took the throne and is believed to have been buried in the tomb that originally had been started for King Tut prior to his death. That tomb was very large very ornate in detail and much more appropriate for a pharaoh. The irony is the Advisor is but a cliff note compared to King Tut the advisors tomb was pillaged by tomb robbers while king Tuts tomb was left preserved until its modern day discovery.
Some royal or high court official most likely. There are more than pharaohs buried in the Valley of the Kings or Queens for that matter. There were also a number of lesser tombs found there which were no where near as expansive or ornate as the royal ones. We see the same thing among the other necropolises by the way. The Giza complex contains large cemeteries for important court people as well as people such as work supervisors etc.. So the evidence points to Tut dying from some accident. As such his tomb was probably not ready and some other tomb was pressed into service to fit the timeframe as a pharaoh was buried within 60-70 days after death.

See I thought the same thing. They did tombs for each reigning king as the expectant life they have. King tut died so suddenly I would think they barley had enough time to get the paintings up before he was laid to rest. Plus he was a child, even for those times, so maybe they made it simple so he would get to the underworld much easier then a king who had been around for much longer.

Why was it completed quickly? Maybe because he died at an early age, unexpectedly, the workers didn’t have 30+ years to work on this like the older pharaohs. Because of this, the tomb had to be rushed for his burial, because without the ceremony Egyptians believed the Sun would not rise again.

It is also speculated that this was never meant to be his tomb at all. His successor Ay was his overseer during his 9 year reign and basically ran the country himself. His tomb is much more extravagant than that of Tut's and because of this, it is speculated that the tomb of Ay was actually meant for Tut.
It would also back up why his famous death mask was never really his. It is dead that researchers found out that because he died at a early age they took the death mask from another person and placed it on to the head peice for him. It is also known that very recently they found another chamber further along near to his burial chamber filled with other things associated with king tut because they could not get the tomb ready in time for his belongings so they used a already existing one close by.

His tomb was also very luckily not looted like the other burial sites in the valley of the dead, leaving a low budget, but clear picture of what a full on burial would have looked like. That's why he is so important, his tomb wasn't impressive and neither was his life but it was untouched by looters.

When we studied ancient Egyptian history back in Post-WW II America, Tut was discussed--back then--as a minor Pharoah who died before his real tomb (one that would probably have been pillaged over the centuries) could be completed, so he was buried in what was a minor tomb, meant for a lesser man than a Pharoah. The fact that he was buried with such immense wealth--even as a very young man--was taught to us as a "teaser"--imagine the wealth that the greater Pharoahs would have taken to their tombs, if only those tombs hadn't been robbed of their treasures before exploration of them by Egyptologists began in earnest.

Tutankhamen was the son of Ankhnaton the pharaoh that created Armana and husband to Nefertiti.
Many Egyptians (political and non political ) believed after the Armana episode when Tutankhamen was returned to Thebes with his half sister wife Ankesanamen to be crowned king he had to be taught all the old religion that his father had replaced with the one god religion to honour the Aten.
It is believed that his advisor murdered him in order to become king himself, but Tutankhamens widow refuses to marry him, she plead to a Nubian king to allow her to marry one of his sons so she didn’t have to marry the murdering advisor. The king sent to sons both of whom were murdered. Ankesanamens body/tomb has never been found. She and tuts names were removed from all temples and the Egyptians removed his name from the list of pharaohs.
His name should be in between the name of his father Ankhnaton and the name of the advisor who then became pharaoh, King Iye.
All in all Tutankhamens tomb was prepared in a fast way due to his sudden murder and attempt to make him irrelevant in history after the distress and disaster that his father had caused

Maybe he died in an unexpected sooner death, and to my understanding on this video, it said that after death and once it starts to become night, he has to have the instructions on the walls in order to achieve immortality, and it has to happen before sunrise. So maybe the tomb was being prepared and died sooner than expected so it had to be rushed. Even so to me I feel like in order to achieve immortality, it doesn't has to mean you have to be alive in this world in flesh, but immortality as being forever remembered, in other words living in history, which as you can see he was able to accomplish.

It was probably different because Pharaohs ordered the making of their own tombs. Because he was so young he hadn’t made one yet, so they had to make one quickly before the next pharaoh.

But as our guide in Egypt told us...that if a minor Pharaoh like Tut who died young, was unimportant and lived at a time when Egypt was past her golden age could have a coffin and sarcophagus so grand then imagine what truly grand treasures the tombs of the great pharaohs like Ramses II would hold. It simply blows ones mind. The sad part is all of those tombs were looted or stripped over centuries by raiders and grave robbers unlike King Tut's which managed to remain hidden and was discovered completely untouched. Consequently making him the most famous historical discovery of mankind.
According to some theories, tutankhamuns tomb was so grand because he reverted the official state religion back to being centered on amun-ra. His father Akhenaten had previously changed the religion of Egypt to be solely centered on Aten which was very unpopular at the time. The fact that he also changed his name from tutankhaten to tutankhamun further supports this idea.
Tutankhamen's tomb was not grand. In fact it was likely not even his intended tomb. All of the signs point to someone else's tomb being rapidly converted for use to accommodate his death which appears to have been a result of some accident. Meanwhile after he died his predecessor - Ay - who was not even of royal blood created for himself one of the nicer tombs in the Valley. That tomb might have originally been Tut's. Egyptian pharaohs had a bad habit of appropriating from their predecessors to take credit for themselves. After Ay the pharaoh Horemheb performed damnatio memoriae on Tutankhamen to "erase" him. Later Ramses II further desecrated the temples of Tutankhamen and his father Akhenaton. Ramses II was bad about that. He did the same to his father Seti I.

No biggie. Actually the fact that he was erased by his successors is what saved him. As a relatively minor pharaoh who was removed from the roles as it were = there was then little evidence to point to his existence. Had it been otherwise his tomb like most royal tombs would have been plundered long ago. Actually there was evidence of the tomb being broken into. A small area of the plaster wall separating the sarcophagus room from the treasury room was noted by Carter to have been repaired. So someone broke - probably soon after burial - in but was apparently caught and the tomb was resealed. That or else a later pharaoh appropriated some of his wealth.

Well, only 1, out of 100+ pyramids. All pyramids have a tomb in them(under them), and most have funerary texts, and burial artifacts in these tombs, but the tombs may not have been ever intended to be used for actual burial. Many kings built numerous false tombs to keep their actual tombs hidden(It didn't work), so the pyramids may have been built to be more symbolic of the king's tomb, but unbenownst to the public, the king would be buried elsewhere.
Pyramids always included a huge complex of temples, monuments, and other tombs surrounding them. People would come honor or worship the dead pharoah believing him to be entombed in or under the pyramid.

The biggest difference is the fact the there is mold on the walls indicating that the tomb was sealed prior to the paint drying, That has never been seen anywhere else to date. It is now believed that the Tomb he was found in was originally for someone else probably the advisor who took the throne after his death. Apparently, the person the Kind had selected to take the throne after him was overseas on a military campaign and one of his advisors had him buried quickly so he could take the throne before King Tutankhamun's Chosen successor returned to Egypt. The advisors took the throne and is believed to have been buried in the tomb that originally had been started for King Tut prior to his death. That tomb was very large very ornate in detail and much more appropriate for a pharaoh. The irony is the Advisor is but a cliff note compared to King Tut the advisors tomb was pillaged by tomb robbers while king Tuts tomb was left preserved until its modern day discovery.

Some royal or high court official most likely. There are more than pharaohs buried in the Valley of the Kings or Queens for that matter. There were also a number of lesser tombs found there which were no where near as expansive or ornate as the royal ones. We see the same thing among the other necropolises by the way. The Giza complex contains large cemeteries for important court people as well as people such as work supervisors etc.. So the evidence points to Tut dying from some accident. As such his tomb was probably not ready and some other tomb was pressed into service to fit the timeframe as a pharaoh was buried within 60-70 days after death.

I’ve read some intriguing ideas that the tomb scandal was caused by a man named “Ay” who was a highly ranked Egyptian offical & one of Tutankhamen’s advisors. He also managed to swindle himself into being the next pharaoh.

My theory is that he was only 18-19 years old and in the 18 odd years of building the tomb that's how far they got until he passed away unexpectedly. Most got 40+ years to build theirs.

I’m thinking ancient Egyptians didn’t think The King would die so young and that’s probably why the tombs was simple and quickly. Usually, it takes them years to finish the tombs. Also, they probably didn’t want anyone disturbing the tombs so they made it simple so it can overlooked. His people knew how much treasure was in his tombs and they didn’t want it disturbed.

The uniqueness of the Tutankhamen Tomb is that this Tomb has been found untouched.All the others,instead,have been looted by the treasure hunters.
Maybe,just as likely they always removed the treasure a year later as part of the death ritual but tut was disabled so left him with treasure because they thought he needed longer 2 get 2 afterlife.

Is it still open for public? As a person who has dream going to Egypt to see this historical sites, I’d be happy if people cam emter and see closely. But I am also sad and afraid that the place might be ruined due to much visitors
