61 is quite a handsome amount of planes. Still it is just a platform, the real game changer will be how advanced the weapons they will carry. The time for UKR airforce to rise once again has come and I hope they will prove their readiness.

      Terrible, terrible, terrible.
65% of the passengers on that flight were from Netherlands. In fact, all the passengers were from countries where the U.S. has close relations with.

@@James-9999 Yeah exactly, the main reason F-16 is "better" is the amount, so countries can give them or sell them, and there will be spare parts. Gripen is a really good plane, but not many countries have them, and their total number is limited.

Norway should be the first country to volunteer donating its F-16s, for many reasons, with the two most important being:
#1, financially it is one of the richest nations on earth, so it could afford to donate those NATO grade F-16s to embattled Ukraine.
And Ukraine isn't fighting Russia, which opens wants to return to its USSR days and attitude, for its own sake; it is just a few hundred miles from Berlin and half a dozen other Western/Northern European nations.
Whether Ukraine gets to keep its own land, makes it own decision --- bad or good, on which international bodies to join, or not ---- like it was after the collapse of the USSR, THAT will also determine how at-ease the entirety of Western/Northern Europe would be...
#2, Norway is transitioning to the F-35. One F-35 equals 3-4 for F-16... in terms of sophistication and, thus, the ability to defeat another fighter jet in a large volume of contested space.

    • @paulgudedeberitz2335
      @paulgudedeberitz2335 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kiabtoomlauj6249 I agree completely and feel that our current government is inept in this area, as they are in so many others. Norway has already decommissioned our F-16 fleet, we don't use them anymore now that we have F-35. They are ready to go. And as you correctly point out, we have a lot of money and make even more now that we help out EU with more gas than we used to export. This years state budget estimated EXTRA income from oil and gas of 100 billion USD. I read that we have sold 30 of our F-16 to Romania, if I remember correctly, and we have about 40 more that Ukraine should get. (I might be wrong about the numbers, but I think it is in the ballpark.)

When it comes to air to ground it won't make much of a difference but the Gripen is much better suited to Air Combat and will be a great complement essentially flying escort for the F-16 using it's better radar situational awareness and Meteor missiles to keep Russian Su-35 and Mig-31's away.

They don't understand that when a system turns up the enemy has to assume they could be anywhere, so even the six HIMARS instantly changed the game. It was the same with Patriot and it will be the same with F-16 and it's ability to target anything in the air from like 100 miles away. Fantastic news and a real morale boost. Thanks for the report. Remember the Polish RAF No. 303 Squadron during WW2? They were told they needed more training and were held back, being denied operational status (in part because some pilots could not speak fluent English). They quickly became the best squadron in the RAF and saved the British during the Battle of Britain. Also Luke Skywalker wasn't even a trained combat pilot and he single handedly destroyed the Death Star, while flying the X-wing for the first time.
Likewise, when I was in Germany, I learned to drive a Porsche in under 5 minutes, even though all the instruments were in German (I only speak American). And when the Porsche broke down, I fixed the transmission in a few hours, even though the repair manual was in German (I only read American). As they say in 'Merica, "I don't need no stinking badges!"
A 6-12 months training schedule is RETARDED. Thank you NATO/US for getting Ukraine the F-16s, but stop dilly dallying and make things happen. This should have happened last year! People are dying in Ukraine and for those in the West don't care, keep in mind that the war in Ukraine is worsening inflation everywhere. This means Russia is responsible for the rising cost of food. The sooner this war ends, the faster we can have a normalization to the rising cost of living.
I'm a Biden fanboy, but Biden was wrong about holding up the F-16 until recently. How could Ukraine implement combined arms without air power? Biden needs to approve ATACMS now, rather than wait another 3-6 months to allow the transfer.
Best regards to all those in Ukraine, fighting for themselves, and fighting for the West so NATO won't have to fight and die in a future war with Russia.

Many thanks to all countries who have and will continue to support Ukraine´s fight against dictatorship.
I hope the western leaders know what they do.... I said in the beginning of the year (8 months ago) that west should train pilots, and people to weapon systems that they didn´t even give at that point. The idea is that when the decision comes, some would be ready immediately.
The problem was that Ukraine planned a counter attack... and in the west, we had to have a long debate about the planes.
Now when decisions are made, it will take 6 months before any real action. More Ukrainians are dying in the counter offensive, because they don´t have planes.
    * Next thing is the long range missiles. Ukraine should have missiles that with ease reaches the WHOLE of Ukraine, and even longer range missiles, (if) when Russia attacks from it´s space. One could limit the use, not to hit civilian targets, if shot further in.
All things needed for Ukraine to stop the war!

F16 in the Ukraine makes absolutely no sense, since there are no military fields with clean runways und the F16 is well known to inhale every kind of runway debris.
In contrast to russian aircraft with a totally different design of their "Jet Intake".
As a result, F16 would be rquired to operate from Poland or the Baltic States; NATO will hardly go that far.

These f16 are very old, have old radars and definitely are not expensive nowadays. They are very cheap. If they were in the latest available configuration - they indeed would be expensive and dangerous for ruzzians, but as always, unfortunately - "west" wants to play stupid games rather than actually end this war by enabling Ukraine to win...

You know what would also be a Game Changer for Ukraine, if Ukraine is able to build their own arsenal of Nuclear Weapons.

After just six months of language, and six months of flight school, Ukraine’s pilots will not be fully competent to fly NATO-gifted American-made F-16 fighter jets, retired US Air Force Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski told Sputnik.
