Hey folks.. tiny error.. I was very late when I checked the maths so the FINAL FINAL scores are S4U 12, GK2 15, HGRS 16 and ACM7 17. The conclusion isn’t affected it’s still inconclusive but apologies for the error!!!
Sorry, there is also a mistake on the final table. The speed rating is incorrect at 16.19mins. True score: HGRS 13 GK2 and S4U 15 ACM7 17 Great video tho what u need to choose IS what u value the most.
@@nugnagaming7024Correct! This was driving me nuts. It's due to a score placement error at 12:31 in the speed category. He verbally gave the S4U a 4 and HeyGears a 1 but graphically gave the S4U a 4 and changed HeyGears from a 1 to a 4. However, this looks like a some kind of graphical glitch because it doesn't look like the other 4s in the table. In the final "useability" category you'll notice that he took the four away from the Saturn and gave it to HeyGears while reducing the S4U to a 1.
Cool video, and a useful overview. I'll strongly consider the saturn now. If I could make a suggestion, I think your scoring matrix could use some work, maybe some weighting. Great conclusions though. Thanks for the video!
For sure, the problem with scorings and matrices like this is they are so subjective, basically it’s my opinion, I would welcome suggestions on making the rankings more effective though
Solid video!! Gotta say, I've owned the Saturn 4 Ultra for a little over a month now, and the build plate hasnt been a *huge* issue. I got a small rubber squeegee that i use to wipe the resin off the top of the plate before removing it, and give everything a little while to drip before i take the plate off. Obvs YMMV and if you're in a hurry to get prints off the plate, this strategy doesn't work as well 😂 but by and large I just use the bib on the bench next to the printer as place to rest the plate when it's not attached to the machine
You have some kind of graphical error at 12:30 where you had an "X" in the S4U speed category block, then changed it to a "4" but had some other underlay graphic in the same category for HeyGears and it looks like you gave both the S4U and the RS a score of 4.
I'm curious what metric or standard is used when decerning that the 12k screens are not 12k? I saw similar stuff in a Fauxhammer video. 11520x5120 is a 12k resolution like 4800 x 2700 is 5k. It's a combination of factors, not just a single axis pixel count. Aspect ratio, total pixels etc... The lowest 8k resolution example on Wikipedia is 7680x2160 with a AR of 32:9, multiply by 1.5 to arrive at a 12k value and you get 11520x3240, less then the 12k screens here. I agree it's a bit scrappy and loose as a system but 12k is apt here.
So i usually go of the standard definition which for 12k is 12,288. But my real point is that the numbers don’t actually mean as much as they seem and are used as a marketing tool more than anything else. My HeyGears reflex has an 8k screen and produces better models than any of the models off the Saturn despite that printer having a 12k screen. I mean they aren’t wrong calling it 12k but equally it’s a bit, as you say, scrappy. Cheers for watching and the great comment
Hahaha yep, agreed, the the Saturn is the best, even if the stars don't reflect it. slap on their $30 heater and its still the cheapest too. My one issue with it, its the "auto leveling build plate" Can I have my old one back? I feel like this causes layer shift in larger models. Not sure if you'd be willing, but I'd love to send you a model I've been printing on it with no success, and see if you have success.
The GK2 gets a higher score on the model, but has a warped model base (clearly visible in the footage). How did that model score higher? I dont think the gk2 comes with the wifi anymore either. And wouldn't the tilting vat on the S4U, which allows less supports or thinner supports, make the final model better? As it'll have less pitting and scarring after removal of supports?
Hey, the GK2 model here is better rendered for the details and looks better in hand so it scored higher, as I said too, I have used the GK2 for over a year to print hundreds of models and it definitely deserves its scores here
@@RisingApe having less or thinner supports didn't help the final s4ultra model? I would have expected it to have a better surface due to less scarring. That isn't the case I guess?
If you have space for it it’s one of the best printers with a heater out right now. None of the disadvantages of the M7 bar the less advanced RERF function (which is still good) if you buy it now using the link below you can get the Black Friday discounts too.
From what i can tell from the video footage , gk 2 has a failed base, anycubic is full of pimples so equals more hassle , heygears clearly takes the detailed top spot followed by saturn
Thanks for watching, the GK2 feedback was based on over a year of printing with it in a variety of resins but I shouldn’t have picked that model for the video.
I've said it on other channels/reviews, and i'll keep saying it as long as they maintain the practice. As long as heygears keeps their system locked down they've automatically taken themselves out of the running, and it has nothing to do with how good the machine itself is or isn't. I know i'm not alone there either, all they'd have to do is allow access to the full suite of settings in their slicer in user addable custom resin profiles and leave everything else alone. I can almost garauntee i'd just buy their resin and use their profiles just to eliminate the extra steps and make my life easier, but as long as its a closed ecosystem i will never even consider one of their machines just on the principle of it.
I think that’s 💯 fair, it’s just the system isn’t for you, it’s been shown you can use third party resins and that you can use blueprint when not online. I have been pushing for profiles of third party resins too but there are lots of great machines out already,
@@RisingApe it more becomes a problem if heygears then decided to monetize the locked ecosystem by a subscription, Cricut tried it until customers realised the machine they had bought and paid for suddenly needed a subscription that was never mentioned at time of purchase. Cricut did walk it back but eventually a company will do it and stick to their guns
hey, I would like to buy my first printer and I have a dilemma. If you had to choose strictly in terms of print quality (mainly warhammer where detail is very important) you would choose photon mono m7 (not the pro version, it is practically identical without troublesome solutions like special heating) or Saturn 4 ultra. you can read a lot of opinions about Saturn how great it is but how does it look in reality? Looking at dozens of prints which one would you buy in this criterion. Thanks in advance for your answer:)
Hey, the M7 will be slightly more complicated to dial in BUT will give you better prints in the long run. If you don’t need a heater that would be my shout. If you do pick one up use my link if you don’t mind. And happy printing
@ and I have one more small question. Purely subjective for you, having the choice between m7, m7 pro and m5s pro, which would you choose? of course none of them are for amateurs but learning is not a problem :) the most important for me is the quality of the figures, the rest is secondary but the easier to use the better
Hi.. I've been using Saturn 4 Ultra for three weeks now and the print quality is amazing. It is also very easy to use. I am new to this hobby but I can't believe how sharp my prints are.
@@Sartre_Existentialist I use Anycubic Abs-Like Resin V2. It's a water wash resin, low-odor, easy to clean with water. I tried multiple exposure test and 2.0 s exposure time is best for this resin (my place is always on room-temperature, not cold). I also used Anycubic Abs-like Pro 2 Resin, wish needs alcohol wash and not as easy as water-wash one but the results are also great with 2.5 s exposure time.
man, If i could buy a different plate for Saturn 4 ultra, I would go for that one. Cant believe they went with this one in production; I can't think of a worse design
@ That and the new GK3s. The Gktwo is not in production and they’re selling them all off however they stated they aren’t gonna make even parts for the two anymore.
I know! I only noticed after I published, very sorry for that the GK is a banging printer and prints excellent models usually. Anyway sorry for the oversight and cheers for pointing it out
How so? Genuinely interested I ranked all the printers discussed their features at length and then gave a conclusion and said which of the 4 I would choose if I were you? What question is it you’re all looking for?
