    It’s fun to see new assassinorum characters even if they only appear in age of darkness then 40K.

    Something fun for the Infocyte. Knight and Titan arm weapons count as defensive weapons.

    I don't play 40K or 30K, but I feel like you could easily use an assassin to pull your opponent's focus without every actually using the assassin to do it's nominal job. In Gear Kreig, for example, I've done things like put a flame-thrower tank on the table and then manoeuvred it such that it was never an easy target, but if my opponent just ignored it I'd be able to barbeque most of the infantry. So my opponent would either move his troops to stay well clear of the flamer tank - giving me control of that corner of the table - or divert his anti-tank units to chase down the flamer tank - giving my gun tanks free rein to actually achieve objectives and win battles. I think you could probably do something similar with assassins.

    • @Mugdorna
      @Mugdorna 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      When I played 40K my Vinicare was always a threat to my opponent.
      I don't know the reality, but it certainly felt as if the fear was more influential than the actual impact of the unit.

    • @Ryan30z
      @Ryan30z 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Eh, not really in 40k, none of them are particularly dangerous. The Callidus is useful for objectives but that's about it.

    • @thomassaxon8254
      @thomassaxon8254 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In 30K the Assassins can have that effect but they're relying on shock and awe to do it. Most people who have played against them a few times won't devote too much to hunting them down.

    To be honest, both plans were absolutely stupid, the only question is what one was worse: Erebus or Malcador.
    Of course the Spear guy would have NEVER EVER reached the Emperor and even if he could mirror some of the power, an endless fraction of the Emperor's power would have obliterated him.
    But, don't get me wrong, the plan to assassinate Horus with an sniper was, at least, as bad. C'mon Malky, you can do better.
    I love when Rogal Dorn faces Malcador and Valdor and he is like: REALLY?? 🤣
    Coming from the third edition of Warhammer 40.000, where Codex showcased assassinorum as a highly lethal force, at least comparable to the Astartes, Nemesis was a gigantic letdown. They were weak AF, all of them barely killed three or four regular Astartes. Not to mention the stupid venenum and drone nerd clades. Wtf was that 😤 Not 40K's lore, that's for sure.

    • @Yandarval
      @Yandarval 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Horus should have been killed in a lot of ways. Is he on a planet. Exterminatus the planet with the good stuff. Not a virus bomb. The planet shattering kind. The turn the planet into a singularity kind.
      On the vengeful Spirit. Use a disposable fleet to suicide themselves to destroy the Spirits engines. Note, destroy, not disable. Then boost or tractor the Spirit into the nearest handy star. The second is harder than the first. As even disabled, the escorts etc will needed to be dealt with before the towing.
      Unlike any other 'verse. These are viable tactics in 40K. Even in 30K, the loss of all troops and the planet itself, for killing Horus. Barely any thoughts, never mind second ones, over that order.
      In 30K, its possible for Mars to have constructed portable teleport jammers. As they still invented and researched some, back then. Horus can neither teleport in or out. Single shot to the area. Crash a corvette into the area. Troops are expendable.

    Just a slight clarification (it was a little ambiguous the way you described it) you always wound if you rend, so it would be 5+ to wound here. You still want a 6 for that mortal wound though!

    I don't play the 40k or The Horus Heresy (I wish I could) but I feel like you have to options with the assassins. You either Leroy Jenkins them towards a target, or you hold them in reserve or use them later in the game to target an enemy on an objective you need cleared. Especially for the ones who are better at taking on characters

  • @Bluecho4
    @Bluecho4 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Gonna need to figure out a way to use one of these assassins in my fanfic. Preferably soon, before the story progresses past the Horus Heresy, and I can't employ the Heresy-specific ones anymore.
    Now I just need to figure out which one.

      Vanus and Venenum assassins exist in 40k, but only in the lore, last time I checked. So you're free to use them, unless there's been some retcons on that specifically.

    I love the assassin's in 30k-40k . Why do you think there isn't a prominent psychic ordo?
    Plus I love the Idea of an assassin that kills through either bureaucracy and or misinformation. Why risk making an enemy when having them hung by their own generals/congregation is much less disruptive.

    Seems a bit weird that the traitors would need even more assassins and infiltrators when there’s an entire space marine legion dedicated to that very practice on their side(?) but sure.
    Maybe it’s just me being needlessly annoyed by this… weird necessity to have chaos and imperium mirror eachother so much. Chaos guardsmen, chaos Admech, I’m already preparing myself for the day they stop teasing the idea and reveal unironic chaos sisters of silence/Custodes and chaos sisters of battle.

    Just a correction for the Callidus -- as I recall rending 5+ means that the attack becomes AP 1 and auto wounds on 5+. So it's a 1/3 chance to just wound no matter what.
