Before the first Fast and Furious movie came out I was driving a '88 CRX Si with Bill Gude "Bullfrog" camshaft, Jun zc flywheel, header, exhaust, and all the bolt-ons. My little Brother was driving a matching '90 3dr Si with Intergra XSi B16a. My CRX was faster, and I never lost a race to any B series Civic.
@@WisconsinEric The 88 si was super light compared to what the weight said on the sticker and online. Closer to 1850lbs or so no teg could stand a chance with yah😉. They had the best rear suspension also for corners just no disc brakes. Gude made great head packages!

He said the '88 was by far the best year to race due to the rear lower control arms, and he claimed the rear drum brakes were better than the rear disks on '90-'91 models. He won many endurance races in '88 CRXs. Oscar claimed that the finned aluminum drum brakes from the later Civic vx swapped onto the '88 CRX Si was the path to victory. Lighter weight and better cooling. My '88 Si had HF fenders and hood swapped. Still steel, but slightly lighter weight that the factory stuff. My old '85 CRX Si had fiberglass hood/fenders from the factory.
I used to own one, and when my little brother took it for a drive and he asked me "what about crash safety" I told him: You don't crash, and you're safe

That crx is a 600kilos shit.. if you put 4 people in it, you'll see the real-world performance of that engine.. which is really pathetic :)).. Definitely MOST unusable engine in day by day car.. from 800rpm to 4500rpm.. is nothing there, a MTB is way faster :))..
That crx was showing out especially to be all motor no turbo love it and since I was overseas it's been a minute since I've seen a kadett much less turbo
I wonder how many tires that Skyline goes through a month. Also I think I remember reading somewhere that burning rubber before a race actually helps you go faster. Not a drag racer, just like watching races from time to time.
CRX Sounds Like it's running the B20 LS-VTECH Setup. Serious power band on those setups. This is where they bolt the cylinder head from the B16 engine on to the 2L CRV long block, and of course tuned or remapped ECU.
I had 3 CRX's. 87hf, 87si, and 88 si. My mom had a 90 in England and it was waaaaay faster than the ones they sold in America. I came with a ZC 130 hp (97 kW) engine and a 2+2 seating arrangement.
Im no fan of drag racing it’s kinda boring to me but this was awesome lol. What the hell was in that Rexy and Turbo Civic. Oh and I loved the Orange R33 Skyline with the R34 Front End Clip. Great video footage too 🤙🏾‼️
I'm not sure about the setup in the crx, but I believe it's a B20. The turbo civic has a B16 engine with a Precision turbo and is making over 500hp at the wheels on high boost.
Crx in a damn good car, the only think i dont like it its that there is no direction assist so i go for DC2 type R, the double wish bone is used on ferrari and that CRX lightweight chassis is soo well made, and dont forget that enegine that has Vtec kicking hard because its a good old B series and it revs un to 8000 rmp, in EU we got the 150HP model it makes 0-100 in 7.7 sec. Amaizing for an 91' N/A !
The crx, I'm suspecting has better tires, not a single soul brought the right tires to the event. Everyone had pretty rims. Do they not have drag slicks in the Netherlands?

That r34 GTR must have got a proper racing gearbox or something, the gears changing is much faster than DSG. There are 2 factors that determine who would be the winner are: the tuner of that car and who is driving it.
At the end of the day, those skyline GT-Rs still dominated though. But very nice work done by the little crx. Barely got out of the R33 GT-R, then demolished the subaru wrx.
Don-Of-On Rice the guy with the eg civic spun through all of his runs... with that brick for a foot he needs boost by gear. the guy with the bugeye probably didnt want to nuke his transmission resulting in him shifting like paul walker in that opening race.
They all almost on on DOT street tires and a couple slow shifts. The guy in the purple hatch could probably feather it a little easier instead of mashing it to hang
Staying in the rev limiter would be bad on a dry (prepped) track. However, keep in mind the track was wet. So, it's kinda unavoidable to lose traction.

Is it me or the track prep not very good. No one is getting traction. Tires spinning, rev limiter etc. I'm guessing this isn't a designated drag strip?
This is actually a racing circuit (road course), not a drag strip. They just used the main straight of the circuit for dragracing. Also, it was a rainy day so the track was wet. Rain + no prep = no traction. lol
Right on. After I watch video a few times I started wondering if it a road course or just a uniquely set up drag strip. Which then explains no prep. Why would they prep then one straight then track would have prep all over it.
He is hitting the limiter way to much. Yes i get it so much power and boost... Learn how to use it shifting to the next gear is what makes you go faster not bumping a low gear until the tires stop spinning. I love the car and id like to know info on it but as a racer myself. Hearing that fuel cutoff and excessive loss of boost kills me inside.
Proof Honda's are not slow ! Yes Maybe a stock Honda is slow because it has less hp and tq compared to other cars but once swapped , turboed or built Honda's can compete with almost anything . I hadn't seen one race a Bugatti but I've seen it all over the place Honda's smoking lambos , Ferraris and even a GTR . Honda's aren't so slow after all but it would be cool if they came with more power stock but hey it's just a 4 cyclinder . I've smoked v6s in my Honda Civic stock internal but w full Bolton's on a b18c type r . Goin k series soon

Tires work best (give the best grip) at a certain temp range (varies between brands and composition.

Crx chassis are one of the best tuner platforms. Unfortunately there's not going to be many around years from niw. Luckily I own two.
