The most tragic part about Angron is that I don't think aiding the rebellion would have enamoured Angron to the Emperor. Angron was a person whose entire life had been dictated by the wishes of others. That day on Desh'elika Ridge was the first time he had been given a choice. A true choice free of anyone else's influence. And he chose a final last stand against oppression. Whatever methods he had chosen, in saving Angron the Emperor would have taken that choice away from him. I genuinely think the only thing the Emperor could have done to earn Angron's loyalty is to respect his decision and allow him to die the death he had chosen for himself.
Elsewhere in the book Angron says as much to Russ. He basically claims that if he was able to he'd fight against the Emperor's fascist slave-taking Imperium

To be fair the Emperor planned to have the Primarchs rule for millennia at his side, after inspecting him, he knew Angron wouldn’t last more than three centuries tops and he didn’t have the ability to fix the damage, at that point Angron went from a scalpel worth preserving to a hammer that still had some use but wasn’t worth the lives of an already compliant world, and he already had a backup Primarch for this exact possibility already in play The Emperor made two of every Primarch, like Perturabo and Dorn, so if one fell in battle or was otherwise removed from play his overarching plans wouldn’t be disrupted As we see in Betrayer, Angron was on the verge of death, so he basically only lasted about a century and a half after his discovery, there was no path the Emperor could’ve taken that would’ve saved Angron from a grizzly fate, and so he chose not to bother
If Gman found Angron first, they could have been the best duo of the primarchs, the chain breaker and the builder. Abolishing slavery and dragging worlds to greatness whatever they want to or not. But that would be too noble bright.

@@sgtmech He didn’t write a sequel because not every story is meant to have a happy ending. The fact that you want Angron to be redeemed is the whole reason he never should be. That feeling it gives you is literally the point, delivering on it isn’t. It’s a tragedy.

Angron is by FAR my favorite primarch. Most people who think of him don’t know how unbelievably strong he actually is. He is not the embodiment of control of martial prowess, he is a behemoth of rage incarnate. The greatest of the daemon princes. The strongest bloodthirster. Lifting wise he able to hold up a titan while his broken cracked under its weight. Millions of pounds of pressure. He is quite literally the strongest of the primarchs. The only reason he is held back is because he has no need to block attacks only kill maim and murder, no fear, no regret, absolutely ZERO mercy. His fucks given are literally negative infinity.
That voice must have been absolute *murder* on you, good god. It fits, in a way. Everything about Angron is broken: everything is tragedy. The one who would likely have been the kindest among the Primarchs, who might have filled a role none of the rest of them could, reduced in all ways to a shell of what he could have been. A completely broken voice is just one more piece of it. As to Nuceria? Even in all that tragedy, there is a certain satisfaction to actions having *consequences* .

If this had happened a decade after Angron was taken away and it was the same tyrant and the same soldiers, I'd get it, even if exterminating the whole planet was still too far. At this point, this is a huddle of terrified people getting butchered because of deeds done before any of them were born. @@levent2991974 Actually yes, now that I think about it. You’re right.
I really like this voice for Angron. I feel like quite a few Primarch could be given same voices, so I really enjoy this higher pitched take.
That cut near the end was haunting.
Aww I didn't mean for it to cut off in the middle of "world". Dammit.
@@TheCommissarGeneral it’s a little odd but actually gives its own sense of dread and effect. Not as bad as it could be, really.
@@TheCommissarGeneral Maybe not your intention but I don't think its all that bad. Imagine if you will, Angron holding the last of the Thalkyr by the head, and not even waiting to finish his sentence, squeezes and crushes the head of the young boy with the last words he would ever hear being "...then...kill everyone on this wo-" *CRUNCH*
That wasn't a cut, they just killed the royal chronicler first. 😉
It adds MORE to what you’ve made.
That silence is perfect to what’s about to happen next.
The fact the human guards still held their rifles up, that takes BALLS at 1:50, gotta give them props for that
Angron sounds like a angry Zippy from Rainbow. Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it greatly. Thumbs up.
😂
I would really enjoy a moment between Kurze, Angron and Mortation talking about their dad.
The fact angron was meant to be the heart and soul of the imperium just breaks me, All the corpse emperor had to do was unleash angrons son to defeat the high riders and angron would of walked a different past still damaged by the nails but different. Instead the corpse emp just tore away angrons heart and force him into another gladitor pit...
To be fair the Emperor planned to have the Primarchs rule for millennia at his side, after inspecting him, he knew Angron wouldn’t last more than three centuries tops and he didn’t have the ability to fix the damage, at that point Angron went from a scalpel worth preserving to a hammer that still had some use but wasn’t worth the lives of an already compliant world, and he already had a backup Primarch for this exact possibility already in play
The Emperor made two of every Primarch, like Perturabo and Dorn, so if one fell in battle or was otherwise removed from play his overarching plans wouldn’t be disrupted
As we see in Betrayer, Angron was on the verge of death, so he basically only lasted about a century and a half after his discovery, there was no path the Emperor could’ve taken that would’ve saved Angron from a grizzly fate, and so he chose not to bother
If Gman found Angron first, they could have been the best duo of the primarchs, the chain breaker and the builder. Abolishing slavery and dragging worlds to greatness whatever they want to or not. But that would be too noble bright.
0:36 "Can a loc come up in your crib?"
Imagine accusing Angron of fleeing, as if he'd been either a coward or a traitor to his fellow slaves 🤦♂
Literally every world eater in that room .-.
ever the perfect dinner party guest
Imagine your standing infront of a 8-10ft berserker, wearing gladiator style power armor who is couple hunderd years old. And you insult him to his face how would think it would end
Best display of vengeance, justice, and retribution deserved. 😈
I love this whinier dipiction of Angron, I feel it portrays the pure emotion in this scene much better, the almost childish natire of his tantrum really serves portray just how damaged a person he really is.
This book is awesome. Highly recommended.
It breaks my heart to hear it. You did an amazing job. Really, great work

He didn’t write a sequel because not every story is meant to have a happy ending. The fact that you want Angron to be redeemed is the whole reason he never should be.
That feeling it gives you is literally the point, delivering on it isn’t. It’s a tragedy.
Angron was the emperors biggest failure. He was the easiest to keep loyal, all he had to do was help him in his rebellion against his masters.
But according to Malcador he always wanted some of them to rebel, it was the plan to cull them after the great crusade when they were no longer needed, just like the Thunder Warriors
There is no way the Butcher’s nails were that bad if this artwork has Angron CHILLING, much less sitting in one place. World eaters chose chaos tbh
Dude he had parts of his brain ripped out. The only reason space marines or Angron can stand the pain is their superhuman pain. They did choose chaos but the butchers nails are absolutely as bad as the name applies
This happens when Khorne disables his butcher's nail for few moments of bliss...
I like to imagine Angron sounds like Malak from KotOR
As great as this story is, Angron would never sound like this
Angron is by FAR my favorite primarch. His fucks given are literally negative infinity.
isnt Vulkan the biggest and strongest?
@@mzamethodman7134 nah angron lifted a titan
That voice must have been absolute *murder* on you, good god.
It fits, in a way. Everything about Angron is broken: everything is tragedy. The one who would likely have been the kindest among the Primarchs, who might have filled a role none of the rest of them could, reduced in all ways to a shell of what he could have been. A completely broken voice is just one more piece of it.
As to Nuceria? Even in all that tragedy, there is a certain satisfaction to actions having *consequences* .
"That voice must have been absolute murder on you, good god."
Proof no one reads the descriptions lmfao
Angron is probably my favorite primarch.
Good god, you can feel his pain.

my fav scene from the bok
I'm not a fan of the high, nasally voice for angron, but still this part hits hard.
It makes sense thematically.
When you consider some of the stuff he lived though.
Then there's the nails that can't be removed.
If this had happened a decade after Angron was taken away and it was the same tyrant and the same soldiers, I'd get it, even if exterminating the whole planet was still too far.
At this point, this is a huddle of terrified people getting butchered because of deeds done before any of them were born.
(Addendum): also, for any saying the guy is weak for not conquering the planet, how well would you run a rebellion if you got lobotomized and had a torture device specifically designed to make you a rage machine nailed into your brain?
They were still slavers.
@@terminallove3531 Yes, slavers...in an imperium where even in 30k, servitor slavery is a common practice and the mechanicus has whole planets of perpetually voluntold laborers. I'm not saying that makes what they do right, but for the galaxy and the wider galactic empire they find themselves in, they're nothing special for good or evil.

Angron sounds like a demented Zippy from 🌈
The guy reading the book sounds just like the same VA that does the King Arthur series by Bernard Cornwell. It might even be him. The Warlord Chronicles or something I think the series is called. The Winter King is the first book iirc. Great stuff. The same guy who wrote the book series The Saxon Stories that has a show based on it called The Last Kingdom. And even better series than the Arthur one. The guy's voice is perfect for it.
You mean Captain Picard?
The thing that everyone misses is that the army of angron was already worshipping khorne, the signs are all there. The high riders were scum but they werent gathering skulls like his gladiator army, when theyre described towards the last stand they are clearly showning signs of fallig to chaos.

What earth about Angron's character made this voice actor think 'I think Angron would sound like an old woman'.
it's more that he's tortured, broken. he was meant to be a healer, but that was literally ripped out of him. he's a husk, his throat destroyed from his screams of rage on the battlefield.
No Im sorry I cant. This portrayal of angron is terrible. This is what you do when you want to make fun of someone
I think it would be a lot better with a more appropriate voice
Had he just conquered the planet like all his other brothers …. He wouldn’t have had to deal with this
He wasn’t allowed to, he was weakened by the knife ears and forced to become a monster
All other Primarchs had armies or were raised in the greatest of cities
Angron and Mortarion had starving slaves
Had the Eldar simply DROVE THEIR REMNANT POPULATION AND RAMMED THEIR CRAFT WORLD SHIPS INTO THE NEAREST SUN, Angron wouldn't have been weaken and enslaved.
Angron is the weakest Primarch ever, just look at that pitiful display of tantrums
The Emperor is correct to disdain him
weak bait
Ofc he is the weakest. He is nothing like the primarch he was meant to become. The butchers nails have destroyed any chance of angron becoming anything close to what he was designed to be.
Same goes with the current fulgrim. A simplified perversion of the original concept.

I have never hated a voice done by a voice actor more. Angrons voice is supposed to be the mix of a rockslide and an ursine roar (for those who don't know that's a bear). This mfer is supposed to sound like a cross between A MF ROCKSLIDE, AND AN URSINE ROAR. I love most of ADBs work, and I know it's not his fault because they run voices past people in gw who give them the greenlight, but i don't have the words to express how much I hate his Angron voice. Makes the audio books almost unlistenable for me.
Deep, gravelly voices are overdone. The Angron you're describing sounds like a video game character.
This Angron sounds like a fucking serial killer.
@biggiouschinnus7489 I disagree. The authors description fits his character perfectly, in my opinion.

Angron is and always will forever be the weakest of all the Primarchs. The shame and embarassment: a mighty Primarch enslaved by mere mortals.
People blame the Emperor for not saving his companions but this also only adds to the truth of it: the weakling was in need of saving to begin with.
He was attacked by eldar as a baby you dumbass, even the strongest Primarchs would be severely weakened
No other primarchs could've taken over that planet and all would've needed saving, It further proves how Angron had it the worst of all and that if the Emperor just saved his fellow Gladitors he would've had an unbeatable Legion.
