Over 1 Hour Drive to Closest Town-Campground Host

- As a campground host at a remotely located campground, it takes me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to the closest town with any supplies. In this video we drive in to Meeker, Colorado to take a look around.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Wow how things change when you have not been back in a long time. Grew up there soon as I graduated I was gone. Just a very few relatives left. My grandmother used to work at the museum. I used to work at Clark’s when I was in high school. Thanks for the reminders.
I bet that was a small graduating class ? Next year will be 50 for me ,going back to a small, town too.

Brian, great little tour thanks. Save up and get one of those Yeti coolers for your frozen food. You could extend your run time to the main campground freezer as long as you could produce some ice there. Expensive but they are amazing.

There are a set of “cheap” condos on the white river. They sell for about $100k for 2 bedrooms. Pretty good price for a mountain town in Colorado.

Hi Brian, Gosh I Love that area. So lush and green. Just breathtaking. Meeker seemed to be a nice little town with a nice lake and even a restaurant. It may be interesting to spend some time in the tent area and enjoy just relaxing at the park, eating breakfast out and doing some fishing before you move on. I'm happy that you get to eat some trout, that you've caught yourself. Oh, the little things in life! Thanks for sharing Brian, see you next time, Louise.

It's beautiful country. About 20 years ago I worked on an oil rig in that area and I'd go to Rifle for supply runs. When I got hurt it was a long long trip to Vernal, UT for the hospital. Thanks for the videos!

I’m living up in Steamboat Springs and just drove through Meeker and was very impressed. It’s in a part of Colorado that hasn’t been overrun and hopefully won’t be.
I spent the last 2 summers at Lake Powell in Utah and the nearest town was 3.5 hours away! I would have loved an hour drive!

Grew up in WA. Locals know to watch speed going through small town. I was pulled over 3x in less than a mile!! Had 3 young kids & told them they had "really friendly police"😂 They told their dad when we got home & he said "how many tix did you get from the friendly police?". Life. Youth. Fast cars. Those were the days my friend 🎵

With a minimum wage job, it's nice that you have the opportunity to fish for a meal to keep the budget within your budget. What a beautiful camp area. I'm glad you took on this job for the summer, sometimes a low key job is what you need to just calm the mind. The money isn't the answer, that will come to you at a later time when you are more ready to push yourself. Thank you sharing the lil town of Meeker. Take care.
Thanks for giving us a tour, what a nice little town. Best way to fix those trout is out of the stream into the skillet or bake them, they looked sooo good.
That dash lemon pepper seasoning is awesome. I use it all the time on chicken. Never tried it on fish but I am going to try it next time.
