Omg I can’t believe I haven’t seen this before now! This may be an easier way for me to save time on my own hair thanks for the tips and tricks that are gonna have my summer hair looking fabulous 👏👏
I'm new to your channel, but so grateful i stumbled across it, i have learned More from you from binge watching your videos then i did in hair school....So thank you so much 🤗😁💖👩🏼🎨
New here, as well! I'm a cosmetology student and I find these videos so useful. One thing I didn't know is that you aren't supposed to paint every section. That's what I've been doing. I have been painting every single section, and I've also noticed lots of bleeding so I know I'm using too much product. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge!!! I hope I can become a better stylist, and I think by sharing your techniques and tips and tricks it can really help people like me who LOVE what they do but still have their struggles.
Lovely colour ,lovely cut too ,this is exactly how my first boyfriend in Liverpool in the early 80' s wordr his hair .he had naturally curly Robert Plant type hair and he's still got it..his hair isl like Dorian Grey & never ages !lol
I love your channel I’m not a stylist but I’ve worked in a salon around stylists and I loved watching them create beautiful art with hair, also I love your accent haha!
Thank you for such a wonderful comment I absolutely love it when I’m in the hairdressers enjoy my channel I’m always surprised don’t get me wrong but it is a lovely thing to know that I appeal to more than just people in my trade 😁👍🏻
Hi, Great video. I do t know if you cam answer this, I've grown my hair out tomorrow shoulders I'm a level 4 I've lightened bits to an orange, can I use The redken 06abn toner if it's orange? .. a side question do you know what sort of colour that tonet comes out at? It looks a brown is that right? Thanks.
like allways, amazing videos. such a simple tecknique and so beatifull. great job, thak you james!! here is the question. Wold you use lightener 10-0 with 30 vol. rather than the bleache pawder, if it wold be virgin hair ?
thanks a lot for your commitment with teaching us. the thick consistency actually was a problem, since i use 30 gr of 10/0 with 30ml 30vol. as it is writen by the factory if you like to lift 3 levels of tone. by the way, what is less harmless for the hair, using the 10/0 or the bleaching powder ?
Thankyou for sharing, now I know what triangles are!!!!! I’ve been on a Bally course about 4 years ago, but they didn’t show triangles, or zig zags!! 👍
This is exactly what I want done and I can't find a hairdresser who can do this. I have black hair and want some brown balayages through. How do I book with you?
I usually use 30vol, yes absolutely i use plastic for a bit more lift should I require it. And no it's not brickwork Because of the depth of the sections there is no real need. Hope that helps thank you for you comment 👍🏻😃
I always follow the manufacturers guidelines when I am reaching human hair on a kind but when I am bleaching a mannequin head it can be on for several hours just because it doesn’t lift very well
Wonderful L generally speaking are use a normal blue powder bleach mixed and at 1 to 1.5 ratio so that is 40 g of peroxide to 35 g of powder if I don’t want maximum left or I’m worried about the condition when I’m overlapping sometimes I will use a freehand bleach
i cant quite remember if you dm me on insta i will have a good look and get back you the only reason i say insta is because comments get lost on youtube i find @thelifeofhair1 in my insta handle best J
Thanks, if you had someone that has lots highlights is this something that you could move them over to? Sorry I have a few questions... Thinking of when the regrowth comes through and how their next treatment would look... Or do you extra work would be needed to do before I moved them over to balayage? I have been out of hair for a while and have never done it before. Also is there a particular tinting brush that you prefer? Many thanks.
Love it! Now it's to practice the painting technique. thank you for your great videos. I love your advice on consultations....and I love your accent! lol.
Just became a subscriber! Awesome vlogs, please keep doing them. As a cosmetology student, your tips and tricks are very useful and easy to learn. Thanks again, till next time 😀
If you are truly only surface painting, why not do a horizontal section to paint instead of a triangle section? The hair underneath at the bottom point of the Triangle isn’t getting colored if you’re surface painting only. I can see if your brush was going deeper into the hair at the bottom that it would affect it. Because the bottom part of section would have more solid ends and some highlite up the middle of the triangle But not if it’s surface only
Hi Debbie thanks for the question so in a nutshell i an using triangular sections to help people understand that balayage is as much about the hair you about hair you dont paint then the hair you do paint. i hope that helps explain it better for you. 👍🏻😀
To refresh all of the hair is simply paint the sections in between the sections that I painted for instance I take triangle sections and paint a V shaped section If you want to refresh all the hair you simply paint the hair that is left in between the triangular shaped sectionsHope this makes sense let me know if it doesn’t 😁👍🏻
Your work looked impeccable but honestly the Balayage Highlighting Result did not show up in the video... clients want to see ATLEAST 3 to 4 levels difference the next morning for the price of Balayage. Maybe it was bad lighting. I’ve been licensed since 1993 and I really could not see the contrast. I just take your word it looked great because of your usual excellent work consistency and level of expertise in educating us with great videos.
I think you had a hard time seeing the result because it is a very subtle technique he used, and he stated that this technique wasn't meant for getting people very light. This would have been perfect for my client I had the other day, she only wanted 1 level of lift.
Amazing demonstration thank you so much just done that on someone and it looked lovely. Love following your tutorials 🙏🙏

The Life Of Hair thank you so much for your lovely reply!!
Now if only I could do this to myself!
As yes I feel like that about my own hair too 😁✌🏻
I do practice a lot. But not reached yet the nice fading or blending close to the roots.
It looks like a little patches here and there😔
Beautiful! How long did you process it for?

here is the question.
Wold you use lightener 10-0 with 30 vol. rather than the bleache pawder, if it wold be virgin hair ?
Yes you could do that providing that it had a reasonably thick consistency that would be okay
thanks a lot for your commitment with teaching us.

Beautiful! I’m rewatching your balayage videos. I’ve got some clay-based bleach (w/20 vol?) and am going to try it on my hair tonight!
Awesome tutorial
Thank you Sofia 🙏🏻😁
Thanks James...what vol do you usually use, do you use the plastic for a bit more lift, and is this more of a bricklay? Love the results. 😊
I usually use 30vol, yes absolutely i use plastic for a bit more lift should I require it. And no it's not brickwork Because of the depth of the sections there is no real need. Hope that helps thank you for you comment 👍🏻😃
@@TheLifeOfHair it does, and thank you👍
🙏🏻😃
So good as always. Well done mate
Beautiful And simple thank you
Thank you 🙏🏻 😁
Great video! Do you always work off a middle parting or do you work off of the clients parting ?
Yes India always go off their parting 👍🏻
How long did you leave the bleach on?
I always follow the manufacturers guidelines when I am reaching human hair on a kind but when I am bleaching a mannequin head it can be on for several hours just because it doesn’t lift very well
I love it! Thank you so much!!!
Hi,did u need to use any toner after ,what was ur toner
Yes 08NB Shades EQ 😁👍🏻
I'll try this!
Good 😌
Thank you Andrea
I love it!So happy, that I find you here!Which powder do you normally use for ballayage,James?
Wonderful L generally speaking are use a normal blue powder bleach mixed and at 1 to 1.5 ratio so that is 40 g of peroxide to 35 g of powder if I don’t want maximum left or I’m worried about the condition when I’m overlapping sometimes I will use a freehand bleach
The Life Of Hair Got it,Thank you!
Hi , if u don’t mind , where did u get that wig stand ?
i cant quite remember if you dm me on insta i will have a good look and get back you the only reason i say insta is because comments get lost on youtube i find @thelifeofhair1 in my insta handle best J
Beautiful!
Thank you very much
What's the level of peroxide you use
Any advice if I wanted to get more lift?
Well Morley you’ve got to choose a Cover it with cling film Or use a backcombing technique that you can then fully saturate and put in foil ✌🏻😁
Many thanks.
so we don’t work under the hair? just the top
Are you using bleach 20 vol or 30vol?
In this particular video using 30 V I tend to use 30v for freehand techniques as they are air processed and the extra power is needed 👍🏻
Also would you do this technique when applying a root colour at the same time?
@@TheLifeOfHair would you use this technique when applying a root colour at the same time?
Thx Very easy to follow.
Janet Tutolo fantastic I am glad you enjoyed it 😀👍🏻
Thank you 🥰🙋🏼♀️

Great technique but the movement on your camera is totally making me dizzy.
