Mordecai Richler has captured in his writing the beauty and mystery of an industrious and wonderous city, Montreal. It is fading in many respects, but if you open one of his books and take a stroll thru the plateaue he brings you right back
His BS detector is too strong for many in this country, but he was a real tonic when I first read him as a teenager. Thank you, Mr. Richler. I am still learning from your brave voice!
Boos and cheers: What better response to Mordecai Richler, who has left us but never gone away ? Here in Glasgow, Scotland, I can still remember the first thrill of reading *The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz* and *St Urbain's Horseman*. Mordecai was an accomplished screenwriter (*Life at the Top* 1962). He is wrong about provincial Canadian fiction which deserves to be read, and IS being read, outside Canada.
Poor Jud is Daid song. If you are Sociable or have a cert in Sociology - an "ology" you are almost A Scientific American. Why does Steve Bannon come to mind? Oh yes. Knowledge is a wonderful thing. That line from Poor Jud is Daid. Beneath those two dirty shirts he wore There beats a heart as big as all outdoors. Bannon as I live a breath. Misunderstood I have no doubt. Yes Rod Steiger. Generally 5th Estate is top quality. This? “I was just angry. Told me all I needed to know in 10 minutes: Don’t care who this guy is or if his return. Judging by the 4 comments, no one else cares either.
I never tire of his novels; one of the best this country has produced.

Thanks for posting. Richler's my favourite Canadian writer.
Thank you for uploading this!
His reaction to the musical number at the high school reunion killed me. 🤣
Walter Matthau should have played him in a bio-pic! His work is bold and truthful, with a perfect Jewish twist... like it or not!

Adrienne Clarkson and Mordecai Richler nice.
The original Mordecai in the Bible refused to bow down to authority. It seems an appropriate first name for this guy.
Genius 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The best!! A genius
He was right about those singers.
Why the hell would they sing "Oklahoma! " ?
What t.h. does that have to do with Canada?
Haha I love this

You're unaware of the man or his writing, but you feel the need to add a dismissive post. Who's the "arsehole"?
☢️Thanks Jesus Christ for being our Savior 🙏 praise God ☣️
