    In this double-leg takedown defense, Ryan Cafaro teaches how to seamlessly transition into a guillotine choke. In MMA & street fights, the "tackle" or double-leg is a common technique, and this defense is an effective option to finishing the fight.

    Thank you again Shane& friend! I needed a better lock to finish. The final grip is my only downfall! I love your partners offensive bait and sprawl! Always just tried to use brute force and just squeeze my fist and tug the neck. I always ended up too high up off towards the chin and gassed out forcing my biceps. Now I have a lock!!! The hand grip is what Is needed to secure a sub

    • @Lessoninablessing
      @Lessoninablessing 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vyshawn foreman no that’s a badddd idea. Trust me I know. The hands and even body movement period is wayyy faster than the eye. I mean of course any boxer of fighter will at least try to time fighters punches and even takedowns BUT focusing so much on just the hands and even hips or shoulders is baddddd and super dangerous and eventually you will get hit HARD because a boxer/fighter shouldn’t just DEPEND and RELY on his EYES to do all of the work because like I said the hands and body is way quicker than they eyes. A boxer can’t even FEINT to thrown the eyes 👀 off just to get your eyes focused on feints and while feinting you with his body all he has to do is continue to front a few times WITHOUT throwing punches and then just ease in and move in closer to throw a punch off of his feints and he will time you and get past your (eyes) eventually.. and once he starts fronting you and starts touching you a few times and get your (eyes) to start watching for his feints it’ll be super easy to hit you then. the best way to time punches or even takedowns is to FRAME (framing)... meaning sticking your lead or even rear hand out to TOUCH your opponent to figure out his distance AND to even GRAB your opponents hands sometimes to keep him from extending his punches or at least to keep him from extending them as fast or powerful as he wants to.. lol just a little boxing knowledge that’s all😎🤙🤙

    Hey Shane I was thinking what if you made a video about the top 3 martial arts one would use to become Batman and analysis on how one could use them to defeat multiple armed attackers at once. Of course it wouldn't be plausible to fight crime using your martial arts alone like Batman because his suit allows him to move quicker to maneuver around gunfire and incapacitate multiple armed enemies at once, but still.

      OK here some tactics I could think of:
      1-Tell them the benefits for health and self defense;
      2-Scare them into it saying you gotta unwind somewhere and if not in a gym it may be on the streets. They may do it scared you will become some thug streetfighter;
      3-Emotional blackmail them saying you wont be happy if they don't let you do it;
      4-Try to show them the art into fighting by explaining them fighting movement and saying its like chess and stuff;
      5-Ease their worried minds saying you wont be doing what UFC people do right away, you will start off hitting pads and light sparring and only if you advence a lot you will even come close to what they do in violence (not always true but whatever). Also show them sparring footage of UFC fighters so they they don't kill eachother in training like they do on the octagon (this one really worked for me);
      6-If all else fails you can tell them you are going to a regular gym (to lift weights) and actually go to the fighting gym the price can't differ too much.
      Well these are some I could think off imagining different kinds of parents. They may work better in combination. Good luck and let me know how it went!

    • @Longarmshortarm
      @Longarmshortarm 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go to the classes man, they will help you with your weight and bjj gyms are very judgement free. If you wait til you lose weight to start, you'll be behind on basic techniques from where you could have been up to if you start right away.

  • @Martial-Mat

    Starting to work submissions into self defense seems like a risky route to go Shane. Ryan is talking like you're defending a high level wrestling or MMA trained guy, meanwhile on the street, the guy is punching you in the nuts the second you stuff his tackle. I've always respected your "self defence for the underdog" angle, so it might be useful to clarify when you're distinguishing between sport and self defence.

    • @fighttips
      @fighttips  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment, Mat. However I disagree that submissions shouldn't be trained for self defense. I agree that going to your back in a street fight where there are multiple opponents is not a good idea, but we give options to the viewers, as everyone is different. Some may prefer defending against the double-leg with uppercuts, knee strikes, footwork evasions, submissions, etc. We are not biased :)

    • @Martial-Mat
      @Martial-Mat 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your response Shane. I certainly agree that you should not train to go to your back in a street fight for the reasons you outline. Also, a grapple is the only range that you cannot disengage from if they turn out to better at it than you.
      I appreciate that you are providing options, but respectfully, do you not think that it is YOUR job as a teaching professional, to evaluate those options, contextualise them, then advise people NOT to learn stuff that has a low return in terms of effectiveness (not saying that THIS technique falls into that category)?
