Thanks for your review. I like mechanical pencils as well as fountain pens. I recently purchased A Lamy mechanical pencil, but haven't used it yet. I appreciate it even more now that I've seen your breakdown and heard your comments. It's obvious a lot of thought went into the design of this pencil!
Thanks for another great review. I have always thought that the Lamy 2000 multi-ballpoint and mechanical pencils are actually the best pens in the 2000 "family". Both are very comfortable to use and have great ergonomics. I use the multi pen and pencil every day for writing. I should confess that (unlike everyone else in the world) I find the 2000 fountain pen massively over-rated and also find it very uncomfortable to use - fat in the middle with slippery section and a tiny nib that is hard to align. It is a real pain to write with. The ballpoint is let down by the M16 refill: I prefer the Lamy D1 refills used in the multi-pen (or just use Schneider ones).
@@greekveteran2715I wish the Kerry came in a large version. Having a capped mechanical pencil is very rare for the Kerry. I love the sound that it makes when putting on the cap.
Michael, like it's chunkier brother (fountain pen), it is beautifully sleek - & the cost is not prohibitive. Next time I require a new propelling pencil, this will have serious consideration - succinct review - thank you, my friend !! Take care, Andrew 🙂
Most be my favorite mechanical pencil. However, I just got in a Caran d'Ache Ecridor mechanical pencil, which is also very very fine (review to come, of course).
Unsurprising - given that you hold the '2000 in such high esteem, Michael - the pencil is as luxurious. I look forward to the Caran d'Ache presentation - do take care, my friend, Best, Andrew 🙂
So, will you be buying the Lamy 2000 in brown? It’s quite pricey.. Gorgeous mechanical pencil. Thanks. Aaaaaaand now I want one. Probably why TH-cam works so well.
No, I won't. My personal opinion is that while the thing with the different color schemes works well for the Safari, Al Star, and the like, it does not work that well on the 2k. To me personally, there is only one, and that is the Makrolon. The original design and its heritage via Braun etc in my opinion is very much tied to the black'ish Makrolon. I do not like the glossy clip on the brown one. I also do not care for that blue Bauhaus, the amber, the stainless steel, or whatever. But that is just me.
Though there are many better pencils out there, this is perfect to pair with the 2k fountain pen/ball point pen , in case one owns it. I think the makrolon material here is the advantage as the grip feeling would be great. Thank you. 😊
I just got the stainless steel version and the lead does not feed…. I tried to unscrew it to see if I could clear a jam, and nope… It won’t unscrew and I don’t want to damage it just in case i need to take it back. SMH… I really like the look and weight, but it’s an overpriced worthless mechanical pencil
Sorry to hear yours has an issue - but not sure it makes it overall a worthless writer, just because you got a faulty one (which I understand is annoying). Just send it in, have it fixed, and when working as intended, enjoy a super pencil?

Thank you for this video. It will now be suggested as a birthday present for me.
Ha, great idea.
I have one in 0.5mm. It feels fantastic to write with.
Great to hear!

@@Scrivelynotes My pleasure. Thanks once again for a great video.
I have several Lamy pens and pencils but this is like a grail pencil for me. Thinking of getting this one this year soon!
If you get it, let me know how you like it!
Get a Pentel Kerry instead! Its a better pencil that only costs 25 euro.

@@bngr_bngr Μe tοο! Such a great pencil!! The only mechanical pencil I use for writing!!
Metalical type needs a review
Very helpful and comprehensive review! Thank you.

The other pencil looks great. What's its brand?
That is a Muji pencil

I have an old L2K mechanical pencil. It is very shiny. Furthermore, the top push button is blank, and doesn't have a number.
Think they look really good when getting shiny

Now I have to get one. The ones in silver are pricey.
That is why you buy 2mm pencils
