Thank you for the follow up Mark. Glad to see only minimal damage. We’re here in Cresswind and some trees fell. We had a soffit fall off our house, a few plants and a tree loped over. Overall not bad and feeling grateful. I was curious about other neighborhoods. So thank you for recording these other areas. It was very informative.
In our Largo Park, it seems every other home suffered some wind damage. Our Front porch and carport ripped off that also caused some damage to the neighbors property. Only about 3 miles to the ocean. All the best for you and your neighbors.
I just stumbled across your channel. I grew up in Bradenton and I used to go to what is now Lakewood ranch back when it was palmetto scrubs 30 years ago. University parkway ended about 3/8 of a mile past the interstate and we used to street race back towards I--75. Lakewood ranch was just kind of an off-road park and people used to dump trash out there all over the place. University parkway was a dirt road called county line road when I was a kid. it's amazing to see how that place has changed. all the newer houses in this area seemed to have fared very well in this hurricane. I've seen all the hurricanes since 1985. when hurricane Elena came through they have gotten increasingly more severe just as the summers have gotten increasingly hotter. good information. good channel.
So glad that y'all escaped any major damage from Milton. Several miles from us, I drove by yesterday, to see about four houses split in two by falling trees from Helene. Updated wind gusts from the NWS, showed that we (Columbia County) did see wind gusts of 147 mph. Like you and yours, we were very lucky. Rip
Mark what’s your opinion on having a picture frame linai pool cage? My gut tells me they would be more susceptible to wind damage than several smaller panels?
That’s a good question. I have seen several that are Not damaged by the storm. But that section would be more expensive to replace the screen if torn out by wind. But they look very nice. 😊
Seems that Lakewood Ranch is built to resist damage from hurricanes. "pool cage" is an odd term that I hear. Growing up in the Tampa Area, we always just called it a "pool enclosure" or "enclosed pool" with everyone knowing the it was a screen. I remember in one storm, we had the gardener come in to slash the screens as my parents were worried that Hurricane Agnes might blow the whole thing away. Just water from Tampa bay up to the pool deck area and street flooding. I think that developers might want to look closer at Lakewood Ranch to see what they are doing right. Most developers won't spend the extra cash. Just noticed the "trailer park" style mailboxes rather than individual mailboxes. Hate that!
Thanks for the comment. I think we are in a good location and lucky to have survived another storm. I also think the type of screen used in the lanai’s make a difference.
Great commentary, thank you👍
You are so welcome
Thanks Mark happy to find this video, even Peace River Electric came back on quickly this time here in Del Webb.
Great to hear that! I was surprised we did not lose power, but probably next time 😉
Thank you. It's good to see that it didn't do to bad at all.
Agree, we did well compared to other areas
This is how every prospective homebuyer should view the area. If you like it at it's worst, than you're going to love it at its best.
I could have not said it better! Thanks Evan
Glad to see that you are safe. Thanks once again for your informative and reassuring update. It is very much appreciated.
Glad to help, and thanks for watching the channel

Wow, thanks so much for the detailed history and explanation. We are fortunate here to have made it through the last two storms with minimal damage.
So glad you guys are safe! I'm still waiting to hear from a couple of friends of ours that also live in Lakewood Ranch. God speed my friend!
Thanks!!!

You can always rebuild...some people just own 2 or 3 houses in that area. Just pick a house that isn't destroyed and live in it. 😊😊😊

LOL, love the traffic!
It’s something when we have no traffic lights
Are there any deals in Lakewood ? Prices only seem to go UP
Some of the new home communities are offering incentives
And would there ever be more flooding than this, from excessive rainfall? Or this is the worst it gets as far as flooding?
Flooding was worse in Debby, we had 16” of rain with that storm. This storm probably produced between five and 6 inches of rain.

Looks like a low grade Category 1 wind damage. No Way 100 MPH winds in the video. Just not adding up
The National Weather Service reported gusts at 100 mph and 104 mph during the storm.
Thanks, Mark. Could have been much worse. No complaints...
I agree 100%
Then they raise your HOA fees bc they have to pay so many people to clean up
Our HOA dues include several clean ups!
