  • The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is here to shake up Australia's seven-seat SUV segment. While it might sound like a flagship Apple iPhone, this newcomer is actually a segment-straddler, with the popular Kia Sorento only about 100mm longer. Either way, China's latest challenger is hoping to steal family car sales away from the establishment.
So, what does the Tiggo 8 Pro Max bring to the table? Well, as you'd expect, it's loaded to the gills with standard equipment, with the three-variant range opening with dual 12.3-inch displays, heated and ventilated front seats, and surround-view cameras - and that's just the start of it.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Tom White attends the Tiggo 8 Pro Max's local media launch to find out how well and its 180kW/375Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission perform. Yep, there's no hybrid option here - yet. That said, there is a choice between front- and all-wheel drive, even if the latter means stumping up for the range-topping Ultimate.

It is a good purchase option but the customer is satisfied and also leaves the dealership happy.

Why did they put a space-saving spare tyre on the underside, instead of a full-size spare, this was a dumb decision from chery, the space saver was so it could fit inside the car.

You say resolution of screens not as high on mainstream rivals like what??? Have you seen the tiny low res laggy screens in VWs, Hondas, Nissans and Toyotas? All their infotainments are outdated, slow, small and low res. They Chery's is better than anything from them. So what could you possibly mean?

@@peterdadswell7998 Yes, seriously. As the reviewer pointed out, it's dangerous having to look carefully at the touch buttons while you're driving. THis is why the VW design boss has confirmed all new VW will have physical knobs.

You can use some simple voice commands, such as starting the air conditioner, raising and lowering the windows, playing music, and starting navigation.

Public transport is cheaper and safer than Chery J11 and Tiggo. Public transportation isn't a luxury to keep the young and little ones safe from the carnage.
