Keep in mind that Quest compatible worlds are of lower detail when playing from a Quest (standalone), rather than playing from PC due to the limitations on what VRChat allows the developers to upload. (Quest size limit is 100MB, not sure about PC world size but it remains unchanged whether the world has quest support or not.) The restrictions are most noticeably lower-poly models, and lower resolution on textures. There is also no support for custom shaders, only what VRChat gives the developers to work with. (correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, I am not doing much research on this) Don't assume this means the quality of worlds on Standalone are *bad* , just know that they are *worse* than PC.

It's a really good Standalone Headset! It has many uses besides VRChat like the Mixed Reality (I actually used it to play and watch videos on TH-cam in the Background while I was cooking lol).
Is it able to load in a bit more complicated worlds now? I remember the quest 2 was very limited on certain worlds not being able to download due to the lack of memory it has

It does NOT limit you when you use it as a PCVR Headset. If you connect the Quest 3 to your PC via Airlink or a PC-Link Cable, it basically acts like a PCVR Headset and will run through the SteamVR Application.
A world or avatar that runs on pc and quest are actually 2 worlds with the same address. Lighting is going to be different since the world is built for the original quest. And textures are going to have a lower resolution.

It tracks your hands pretty well if you have good light sources around your playspace. You can even use Hand Tracking in VRChat which is pretty neat! (Lets you move around with your fingers by pinching them and moving them forward or sideways).
Question: on the quest 2 most of other peoples avatars are covered up by default avatars for the sake of optimization is this annoying feature still present for the quest 3?
I wanna be able to see people in a vrchat world placed into my irl house through passthrough. Could that be a thing? Hide the vrchat world and only see avatars?
They use a very unique technique of Virtual Desktop, The VRChat Camera then being as Greenscreen and using Passthrough. It’s complicated, can’t explain it in detail since I gotta do more research about how it actually works.
So tldr; you can use this thing plugged into a good PC and its like using a more powerful headset like the VIVE in the sense and can acess PC only worlds?

I just got the quest three and I'm a little late, but when I record I was playing and recording on vr chat using the quest 3, I looked at my monitor and vr chat was like zoomed in on like near the microphone so I wasn't able to record the big picture. Is there a way to fix this because if this is just how the oculus quest 3 records then I'm gonna have to return it. Someone, please, I don't know what to do, I tried everything on the oculus app.
@@Parzevalcouldn't get it to work right on quest 2 standalone. The aliasing is greatly reduced where on quest 2 it was distracting but I can barely see it on quest 3 making it a great portable cinema device!

Honestly, the Quest 3 is really is quite a big upgrade from the quest 2. Though if your budget is limited, then I'd either recommend going with the Pico 4 or Quest 2. I'd still recommend you the Quest 3!

How does it compare to the Q2? I want one but I'm not really that interested in AR and the only real upgrades would be the lenses and the graphics/performance.
vrchat on the quest 2 was bad, frames were low and it just felt like a screen on your face, the quest 3 actually felt more real and sometimes i forget im real😭sure its expensive but its REALLY good, youll mostly get 60-70 fps on vrchat unless the world is really big, but graphics wont be better only clearer because of the new lens, the change from quest 2 to quest 3 lens makes graphics appear better though, i really recommend it if you want a performance boost and better visuals.
Mentioned that in the Video but - If you connect your Quest 3 to your PC you will be able to enter PC Worlds. Else using the Quest 3 Standalone (not connected to a PC), you’re only going to be able to enter Quest Compatible Worlds.

Its a Client thing from what I guess (Since I actually got the same problems on and off in VRChat on my PC). I either restart VRChat or wait a bit, really depends.

you should definitely look into the Quest3, Valve Index, or BigScreen VR headsets. your pc can basically run just about any headset at their highest resolutions and refresh rates so i would definitely recommend upgrading as you’ll notice a huge improvement over the original Oculus headset.
I mean, I want the new quest 3 but that's in part to the standalone. However I don't really see the push to Quest 3 if you're Using the Quest 2 with steamVR since performance and visuals are primarily based on your PC's. And now with quest 2 having the SteamVR app for free to download so you can eliminate any 3rd party apps to link to pc like Virtual Desktop or Metalink, it's that much better
Technically yes. The cool thing is that if your Quest 3 is plugged into your pc and you’re using SteamVR, you can still use the Passthrough by double-tapping the right side of the headset. It’s great stuff!
i like watching movies in vrchat and cuddling my friends and the quest 1 is kinda like getting no more support with anything, so i was like, frick it, so i got a quest 3. im getting it tomorrow hopefully. the main issue for me is quest link worked for a while with my quest 1 but then it stopped working entirely and kept disconnecting. im really hoping my cable will work with quest 3 and actually charge while playing. otherwise i'll stick to virtual desktop which is amazing even on the quest 1

I don’t think the weight of the headset is the problem but the straps are quite uncomfy (maybe it’s even both but from what I experienced, it has only been the straps).
it’s also much better against the stinky quest crashers because I’ve fallen victim to the same crasher twice one one quest 2 and one on quest 3 and the quest 3 only lagged a bit while the quest 2 crashed
Have you tried the quest 3 with Vive trackers yet? ( For full body tracking ) I am currently torn between getting the quest 3 while using air link or buying a Vive Pro 2 with the wireless adapter. Seen people using extra powerbanks but the headset would still die even if they are at 70%. any one knows something that makes the headset get atleast 5 hours of battery life? since that's is the only thing that makes me not want to get this headset
There‘s an extra head strap by meta which is perfect for optimal use (it is quite costly). You can still connect your Quest 3 to your PC using a Link Cable which wouldn’t drain the battery of the Quest 3 at all. But these are the only options I know of so far. It’s actually quite a pitty that it can only last 2 hours.
I just got the meta quest 3 for Christmas and i was falling in love bro like don't get mad or laugh at me but the Meta Quest 3 is my first VR so this is why i love it but somehow im just like a pro at VR i know all the tips tricks just from watching youtube when i didn't have a VR.
Whether its Quest 2 or 3, VRChat will look horrible on standalone. You wont be able to load worlds as they actually look (Cuddle Me for example) and Avis will look bad with washed out textures. Not to mention the memory issues of even viewing other people. Quest is great for entry level VR or for kids as a Christmas gift (keep kids under 13 off VRChat). While it does allow PC link via modes mentioned, the battery life is horrible. Your headset will die quickly and so will the Quest 3 controllers. Even though its an older headset the Index is still pretty much the king of VR, From the base stations to the controllers with finger tracking, and the ability to upgrade to FBT. In the end to each their own. Just know what youre getting into if VRChat is your focus.
The reason this wouldn't work even if VRChat would let that happen is because it would not only drain the battery of the Quest 3 extremely fast but can also put alot of work and pressure on the hardware itself, since many PC Avatars & Worlds are simply not optimized and the Quest 3 isn't really made for unoptimized avatars & worlds made by the community.
really late but the point of quests is that they can be standalone (not connected to pc, just doing their own thing) :^) pcvr is probably worth me upgrading my 'puter though

Freaks lied about the full body tracking and the behind the back behind the head tracking is ok I think so far.

I don’t think so, they’d be pc specific avatars they’re using. Unless you connect your quest to a PC, you won’t see PC specific worlds/avatars

You can! Physbones should also work on the Quest 2 by the way, you might have to set that up in the VRChat Menu. But it sure works on the Quest 3! :)

no. almost all maps that you can enter with a quest 3 have been made compatible so that you can enter these.

META has not implemented that sort of Leg Tracking YET. I will be making a Video once it comes out.

From my Experience it doesn’t drain any battery when connected to the PC. It only drains the 2 hours of battery when it’s Standalone.

So far it looks like it have the same issue of being uncomfortable to wear with it being front heavy
I don’t think the weight of the headset is the problem but the straps are quite uncomfy (maybe it’s even both but from what I experienced, it has only been the straps).
Get a good halo strap like BoboVR. It offsets the weight to the back more.
It's my preferred choice.

it’s also much better against the stinky quest crashers because I’ve fallen victim to the same crasher twice one one quest 2 and one on quest 3 and the quest 3 only lagged a bit while the quest 2 crashed

I am currently torn between getting the quest 3 while using air link or buying a Vive Pro 2 with the wireless adapter. But I seriously do not know which one to go for.

There‘s an extra head strap by meta which is perfect for optimal use (it is quite costly). You can still connect your Quest 3 to your PC using a Link Cable which wouldn’t drain the battery of the Quest 3 at all. But these are the only options I know of so far. It’s actually quite a pitty that it can only last 2 hours.

I just got the meta quest 3 for Christmas and i was falling in love bro like don't get mad or laugh at me but the Meta Quest 3 is my first VR so this is why i love it but somehow im just like a pro at VR i know all the tips tricks just from watching youtube when i didn't have a VR.

Whether its Quest 2 or 3, VRChat will look horrible on standalone. You wont be able to load worlds as they actually look (Cuddle Me for example) and Avis will look bad with washed out textures. Not to mention the memory issues of even viewing other people. Quest is great for entry level VR or for kids as a Christmas gift (keep kids under 13 off VRChat). While it does allow PC link via modes mentioned, the battery life is horrible. Your headset will die quickly and so will the Quest 3 controllers. Even though its an older headset the Index is still pretty much the king of VR, From the base stations to the controllers with finger tracking, and the ability to upgrade to FBT. In the end to each their own. Just know what youre getting into if VRChat is your focus.

Vrchat should let quest 3 run PC avatars and worlds
The reason this wouldn't work even if VRChat would let that happen is because it would not only drain the battery of the Quest 3 extremely fast but can also put alot of work and pressure on the hardware itself, since many PC Avatars & Worlds are simply not optimized and the Quest 3 isn't really made for unoptimized avatars & worlds made by the community.
At least let user choose which mode they prefer, running quest vrchat with quest 3 Hardware, really easy undermining the purpose of the quest 3.
