For me, instead of saying that Vietnam is not as expected, it should be said that it exceeded expectations! Through your videos, we see a different Vietnam! The price of the beer should include the beautiful view! Great job, thanks a lot for sharing!👍😄👏
Ohhh Yeah!!.... One of the fav. Vietnamese dish,,, Beef Slice Pho.... Can't go wrong with that....Thanks for showing us around.... a decent modern well-developed city....As always, stay safe and take care out there...Cheers mate!
You should totally do a food tour in each city that you visit in Vietnam. You'll get much better experiences if the local guides show you where to get the best foods. Eat com tam, banh mi at the best rated place, banh xeo, bo kho, bo la lot, banh cuon, bun bo Hue, bun rieu, etc.
Welcome to my hometown, Ken. I think you should try Bột Chiên, it's an astonishing and one of the most famous junk food in Saigon. Wish you have a good trip, man.😊
What a yummy bowl of pho, Ken, and the portion is rather big. Oh gosh, it's my favourite and l had it everyday during my travel to Northern Vietnam 😂😀 Wow, thanks for that interesting walk about in that big and clean park. Yeah, this part of Ho Chi Minh City looks very modern. Another awesome experience visiting that hightest skyscraper. The sunset captured is lovely and the night view is truly incredible. Great content and thank you very much for taking us along this coooooooool journey...love it. Bravo, Ken.
Nice video Ken 👍. You would have thought that they would promote local beverages in such a "Landmark" building. Saigon Special is wonderfully light and refreshing beer. Hope you will try it soon :)
You have unique way of showcasing places not mainly on touristy atea but daily way of life even in not popular places the way you did in PHL. You have the approachable smile & personality . Im intetested if you do it also in Vietnam . Btw that bun you ate is what Miss Vietnam -Universe 2018 H'Hen Nie national costume which help her too up to top 5. You may visit her province Dak Lak where she belongs to an Indigenous tribe.
Congratulations on setting a new personal record for the most expensive beer you've ever had. Now you have a new record to shoot for. The glass was very nice too. Did you get to take it home? I must agree that the price included the the sunset which was well worth it. Can't wait for more Saigon adventures from Rob.
I think you'll find much lower beer price at a much lower elevation, lol. I'm sure it was an $11 beer because you were enjoying the heights of the tall building.
HCM,,, chilling at sidewalk,,, drink Saigon coffee , dipping biscuits, eating sunflower seeds and scooter people watching,, sitting on low stool ,,,l, my wife and many backpacker friend love district one,,, Three decades ago doing Banana Pancake Trail,,,, cross over from Nanning China by train to Hanoi onwards by land to whole mainland South East Asia before going back to Malaysia Stay safe and stay happy 🤣
Hi Ken, I guess that this tall building and surrounding park area is quite new as I don't remember it from when I last visited HCMC five years ago, but I did go to the top of another very tall building (tallest at that time, I think) that had a helicopter pad at the top. You can see this building briefly in your video. Great views of the city from the top of that building, by the way. Interesting that they sell only Belgian imported beers though, which are naturally very expensive in Vietnam. The cherry flavoured beer is very popular in Belgium, I believe. Cheers / Prost ! 👍👍🍻🍻
In my opinion, if you just want to go to the top of the tower, then buy the basic ticket 300k vnd (12 euro), if you want to go to the top and have a drink, look the telescope better to buy commbo( 20 euro), or you can also don't need to go to the top of the tower, don't need to buy a ticket, can directly take the elevator to the restaurant / bar to order drinks and sit and enjoy the view like you did, it is only a little lower but can see the whole beauty of the city is easy, but the price of drinks here will be expensive, cheapest drink as coffe 10 usd
Saigon is made of smaller cities surround that is why you think we do not have many sky high buildings 😅 you’ve missed out District 7 and Thu Duc City skyscrapers in your view 😊
Since high skyscapers fascinate you, guess you will be able to pay a visit to our highest building, "Merdeka 118" during your next trip back to Malaysia. Wonderful of you to visit all the highest buildings in all the countries you have travelled to....a great experience indeed, Ken 💪👍
First dark sauce is like Hoisin sauce, tương đen, the red is like sirracha, a little spicy red sauce. The veggie that go with Phở are basil, culantro, bean sprouts
Great series of videos, Ken. I like your infectious smile and open, happy-go-lucky attitude while visiting the Southeast Asian nations and China. Your English is superbly good. Hopefully, no one has made this observation so that mine is not a repeat: the proper way to eat phở is to sip the broth along with eating the noodle and meat, so that when one is finished, there would be barely any broth left. Hence, Vietnamese use both the chopsticks and the serving spoon while eating phở. That's how it should be consumed, and that's how most northern or northern-descended Vietnamese eat phở since phở originated from the north. However, most southern/southern-descended Vietnamese tend to eat just the noodle, taking a few sips while leaving most of the broth nearly intact. In my opinion, the broth defines how good a bowl of phở would be. The noodle is basically the same just about everywhere. Again, thanks for the videos, Ken. Super job.
Nice city Ho Chi Minh City, that sky scraper is amazing Ken.And that noodle soup was looking so delicious.Do you like it in Vietnam more then in Thailand?
Belgian beers all have their own unique glasses, it's a whole culture :) If you're in Belgium and you try to pour a beer into the wrong glass, they'll yell at you. Each glass is supposed to bring out the specific flavor of the beer.
Ken, do you check reviews before trying a restaurant? It often seems as though you frequent establishments as you come upon them. Remember what happened when you were casually stopping at random food stalls in Manila and eventually fell quite ill at the beginning of your trip. Please take care. Love your interaction with the locals in all of your videos!
That s good you are enjoying PHO , also meat ball is good ,too .Hope you like to find out egg roll, and other meals. Go night life market is fun .Google to have more experiences or ask around . Where are you from Ken ?
It's basil. Looong time ago, people only have pho for breakfast. But nowadays people are having pho anytime as their craving desire. Usually, I would taste the broth first before adding the sauces.
The black sauce was soy bean sauce, the red one was chili sauce and the green leaves were basil. They are the basic ingredients you put in a bowl of Pho. In Vietnam, Pho can be eaten anytime of the day even though many love to eat it in the morning.
In Vietnam, there's really no breakfast dishes, or lunch dishes, or dinner dishes. Any dish can go any time. People eat pho for breakfast, or lunch, or dinner, or late night at 11pm, or early morning at 3 am.
The beer, we called it simply a' rougeke' and its mostly woman Who drinks it cause like you mentioned, it doesnt taste much like beer. Kasteelbier had a few different beer, but we have so many beers in belgium. Quit expensive over there but its also for the place and vieuws that it pays off.
Not he silent! He’s such honest man because the price are list on the war! He took minimum for 45k on that list! The range from 45k- 65k depend on your demand🤓
The reason the Landmark 81 resturant is always empty is because it's astronomically exspenive. Japanese are the only ones who can afford to eat there 🤣
I love the German accent. Its used in British comedies like "Allo Allo" to portray Germans of very low intelligence.......But Ken is a great blogger. Shame about the accent, but hilarious for all British people.....

After the beer I guess you understood why the restaurant was empty 😂
if I am not wrong the name is pronounced "Furr" not pho.
ich bin zwar spät aber pho ist sehr sehr gut mit viel limone oder "lime juice" es gibt dem phô einen gewissen kick :D

Mint doesn’t go with pho. Probably culantro.

It's either mint leaves or Thai basil leaves which is what they commonly use on beef phô. Delicious 😋 I have it with spring rolls too.
Vietnamese peoples they don't eat beef pho with mint leaves It is basil leaves for eating Vietnamese beef Pho
How much = " Bao Nhieu "
$13 for a beer, Wow !! No wonder the bar is empty ! 🤣🤣
🤣
rich people wouldn't pay that price for a beer.
It's basil!
It basil. not mint. In thailand call Horapha
Ken I paid $18 for a beer once in Australia so crazy
I'll raise you $22 in Reykjavik! A sad day indeed.
Wow, that's insane 😳
Actually pho is spelled 'phở', pronounced like 'phuh' with a rising tone, as you say the word. phở 😎
This reminds me of that Russell Peters joke.
You'll get much more respect by calling it Fuh not Foe
Phở is not National Food... It seem to be called as Vietnamese Fast Food or Popular Food
