- Mario Hoops 3-on-3, known in Europe as Mario Slam Basketball and in Japan as Mario Basket 3on3 is a sports game developed by Square Enix and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS in 2006. The game is the first in which Mario and Final Fantasy characters appear together as playable characters, and the second Mario game developed by Square Enix, the first one being Super Mario RPG. It is the first Mario basketball game ever to be released, although characters from the series have appeared in the Nintendo GameCube version of NBA Street V3. The game was released on the European Wii U Virtual Console on May 26, 2016 and it was released on North American Wii U Virtual Console on November 3, 2016.
The game features a series of three versus three basketball tournaments on different courts, each of three games. The game uses the Nintendo DS's touch screen extensively, and features items and coins from the Mario series. Critics praised the game for being amusing and fun, but criticized the weak AI and limited multiplayer options, with full basketball games only being playable across two players locally who each had a copy of the game.
Mario Sports Mix is a Mario sports game for the Wii featuring Mario and company competing in four sports: hockey, basketball, dodgeball, and volleyball, along with the Final Fantasy characters who have appeared in Mario Hoops 3-on-3 as well. Slime, a Dragon Quest mascot, makes an appearance in this game. This game was developed by Square Enix, who also developed Mario Hoops 3-on-3.
The game supported the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection feature, which enables players to play with other players in their region. To save any game data, three blocks of memory have to be used on the Wii system. However, due to the game's Wi-Fi compatibilities, the game data is copy protected, which means it cannot be transferred onto other Wii systems. As of May 20th 2014, Nintendo has terminated the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, meaning that it is no longer possible to play Mario Sports Mix online.

Ahh Mario Hoops 3-on-3, a DS gem that I feel like the collective gaming community doesn’t speak on as much. It’s a well crafted (graphically and fundamentally) game. Controls are simple to hop into but man this game bolsters a true challenge. It’s rewarding once you master the basics, but even more once you get sucked into learning the advanced techniques. Fought hard for all the unlockables and had a blast doing it. Always wanted a true sequel to this masterpiece on the 3DS

Yeah me 2. Every time i played this wonderfull game, i Always got the Ninja character and sometimes even got angry for not unlocking the Final Fantasy characters 😅. But at the end of the day it brought back my childhood 😂😂. It seems weird of my part to comment in a 3-4 year old video, still i got nostalgia today of this game and gave it a search and clicked in some videos 😁👍

This game is almost never spoken on and it's kinda weird. I got this game a long time ago at a Goodwill. It was in the box of Mario Party DS so that's what I thought I was buying but instead I got that. (Yes I got a refund and yes I kept the game) I tried the game out and actually enjoyed it a lot. It's got a lot of call backs to retro Mario, the final fantasy characters and a pretty solid Mario Basketball game! What's not to love. I feel like this game is heavily over shadowed by the Mario Strikers or Sluggers series. Even sports mix is more talked about than this.

I know how this goes. Me=Ninja Black Mage = Luigi and Peach = White Mage. That's like our sort of like other type of selves I guess.
This is the coolest crossover that probably won't happen again but damn they made 2 amazing games. I love that they didn't go for Cloud or Tidus, they went full classic FF. Sucks that hardly anyone knew you can fight Behemoth King with Mario characters in a sports game that sounds like a Kingdom Hearts fanfic. But it nope, its real and you can actually slam dunk Behemoth King. Too bad hardly anyone played this and I doubt we'll see a sequel on Switch anytime soon.
When I won the hard rainbow cup in MSB I felt like the best gamer ever oml😭 it was SO DIFFICULT
What team set up did you use? I’m using the ninja from FF and Boo and paratrooper. But yeah they are mad hard to get past… is there any tips on beating them??
I prefer Sports Mix's voices, especially for the FF characters.

No, it’s way better the originals, specially black mage, he sounds more special there, like if he was a wizard, here he ain’t, also ninja here sounds like a teenager who goes into skateboarding very day and likes rapping, in original he sounds more serious which IMO makes it cooler… and white mage, just simply sounds cuter , in sports mix she sounds also like a teenager
