It produces an unbelievabily dense and great atmosphere, which no game since this time reached. Just Love it! It takes a LONG time to skydive off the top of the Sunspire. The only games I can think of since then that have such huge vertical drops are 'Stone Pit' from Painkiller or Trinity Towers from Fallout 4.
Hmmm not for me. I still think the first Unreal is an experience on its own. While not perfect and very late '90s (Half-Life itself was deeper), it's simply UNIQUE.

I remember getting this game as a bonus with my soundblaster Live. I cannot express what i felt when i entered this world. It was like magic, it consumed me, took me from the real world and put me in a fantastic, melagholic, epic, full of fears world. Every single time i loaded this game i felt the same way. Graphics technology, gameplay AI and music composition expressed the high intelligence of its creators. Respect EPIC.

After 7:20 it feels like after ascending the spire, at the peak, you reach high into the air and sweep the very stars with your hands. Time and space slip between your fingers, and all the mysteries of every world appear to you.
The problem is; what games now adays are worth replaying? I mean, there are a few, like Halo or Starcraft 2 but really, Unreal is a game you could play over and over and still find something new, must be my tenth play-through of the game and I've just discovered that mining ship in the first level on Unreal:Gold. That and you can just get the feeling of discovery even if you know where you're going.
This place is so calm and beatiful. But a hell to orientate in!! I get stuck in the elevators and dark chambers all the time. Btw ever tried to ride the fastest elevator and shoot a razor straight upwards? The elevator is faster so the razor will hit yourself. xD
this is the part where you have to fight the giant gorilla-alien at the beginning of the valley with a few nali houses there too? Was my fave tune in the game.
i think this is Sunspire, the song Surfacing is for Gateway (i managed to save the Nali they try to push off, only for him to run off the edge X.X) but when entering the Sunspire look to your left and you see a Nali come flying down into the lava
poor Nali never stood a chance against the Skaarj, damn peace loving hippies and their no weapons law lol. It still makes me sad when u see that Nali get pushed off the top (and yet i still laugh)
O yes the sunsspire great level design, the middle part of the song does not play ingame. 5.40 and further play's when you're in the sunspire and on top of it. 7.16 and so on: beautiful.
I would love if this game were redone with current graphics. Mind you, only if they did it with a respectful approach, and didn't mess with the original gameplay or levels. Also, make the textures and models enhancements of the originals, not "re-imagined". I dislike how a lot of new games have graphic engines that make everything smothered in chrome, all shiny and all sparkly for no real reason. If the same guys who did the uncharted series for PS3 could be the ones... OH MAN :D

The part that starts around 7:00 mark is amazing, especially if you climb to the top of the spire and than jump down, takes good 15 seconds to fall all the way.
This game and it's soundtrack are not only fovever part of video game history, but they're part of my personal history. It's been several years and I keep coming back to the soundtrack. It's just amazing, a real trip, an adventure. I'll never forget it. I wish the new generations could experience it the way we did.
Apparently Epic Games said with the release of Unreal 4 Tech Engine, they haven't forgotten about Unreal and are going to plan a remake of the Iconic first game. We can only pray Epic Games brings this to fruition

With latest patch 1.27 on oldunreal the music is way better quality during gameplay. Unreal is now an immortal software, a unique gem of videogames, from 22 years.
@sporeodst so youre at nali haven? well that level wasnt to hard at least but maybe was cuz i tried to preserve ammo and single them out into open ground, i wasnt that long at least but now im frikkin lost at nali castle i did the abbey thing and killed that giant mom eyeball thing that spawns more of those damn things. and those robots are crap compared to a stone titan
oh ok....lol i never knew that....i remember hearing a nali crying out when u cross the bridge.....next time i play the game ill have a look....wont be a while the parents made me uninstall the game lolz.....

i just started playing this game again a few days ago and yesterday i was on this level i actually backtraked and got lost on purpose just to hear this music and no other level has made me do that yet so i guess thats the effect that unreal masterpiece music has on you.

This was the best game I ever played but god this level was frustrating, so dark and so much elevators. :P
