    Great video Leo, inspiring stuff when the CEO knows exactly how their products are put together. The Voima is awesome and I suspect a game changer for eMTB’s, from what I’ve seen it’s a real allrounder. Amazing engineering!

    just to let you know what a great bloke u have as a rider - Joseph Nation. met him at Petzen (e-)EWS. did not know he was one of the elite riders, started talking to him, and what a pleasant person he is. completely down to earth beast + arms like a hulk. later i found him on strava, he is a beast of a rider. he let me try his e-bike, the golden pole. oh my gosh. i actually started to consider whether i should get myself a pole bike. in the end i got your hardtail and have not yet regret the purchase. all thanks to Joe Nation, he is the man!

    Aivan uskomatonta osaamista! Jatkakaa Polkemista - Pole for victory! 💪

    It’s so different watching this after actually having the Voima. It really helps you understand how your bike is made, which helps with installation, upgrades, and future maintenance. This is not something you are likely to see from other brands, and certainly not from the CEO. I would like to see a video on customer assembly once the bike is received, as well as how to replace all bearings from a consumer perspective. The manual was good, but I was still confused on a few things. I also still don’t know how to install lights or the Kiox display, and there isn’t too much out there about those topics.

    What I wish for this industry to be consumer friendly is if they would make the motors consumer serviceable and make parts easy to buy. I don't want to be without my bike for several weeks when I can do it at home myself. I don't see the value in a lifetime warranty for a frame with a motor. Frame bearings aren't a problem, but when the motor will need new bearings and you are out of warranty you are screwed. You can try to open it up and service it at home, but it will be without manual, without proper diagnostic tools, and very likely without easily accessible parts. And after some the motor is much more likely to cause a lot of problem rather than the frame. This ebike MTB industry seems hellbent on making it to the top of most environmentally unfriendly ways to go electric.

      Yeah, it's a bummer that the motors are not easy to service. The main issue is that everything needs to be in a light package, and the motor is rather complex. Luckily the motors are relatively inexpensive themselves. I bet there will be more solutions in the future for this

    • @TeamCykelhold
      @TeamCykelhold ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Polebicycles Thanks for your answer. I hope there will be more solutions in the future. Having watched a few videos of disassembly of a EP8 it seems like a job that takes several hours, not the least because they are extremely compact and it is easy to damage the components. But still, I don't understand the reluctance to sell the components and gaskets to consumers. Motors being relatively inexpensive is good, but it does not solve the problem of it seemingly being a total waste to buy one when one could have repaired an old one. It also seems unsustainable that you can't easily keep your frame and upgrade from EP8000 to EP8 motor since they use the same bolt holes. Is this just a Shimano issue, or EMTB in general I wonder. Seems very consumer hostile. A frame from Pole is built to last for a very long time it seems, and would be a perfect candidate keep for a long time with upgrades over time.

    I would love to ask how is the motor controlled? I’m a Disabled Vet here in the U.S. I have a back injury and very rarely ride on crazy trails. I chose a Trek full suspension e-bike. I wanted the suspension for making any uneven ground or anything you may encounter on a road side ride less shockingly painful. I went with the e-bike to help me flatten out my ride. I wanted something that would take that extra strain from hills off of me. So I could focus on getting some cardio in. I really pushed myself but in the end I failed. The bike had a few settings that it would run the motor to assist. It just didn’t have the settings I was looking for. I tried asking trek if they could think of anything and they pretty much gave me a “we don’t support modifications made….” Speech. I tried the same with the motor company but they pointed at trek… I even tried finding a throttle lever hack… in the end I just got tired of trying. One person treated me like I was just being lazy and wanted to run it like a battery powered motorcycle. I just wanted to get more power or control how much power the bike used going up hilly terrain. I get it not everyone needs that, I’m just trying to find the best all round option for myself, to try and take care of what’s left of my body. My back is trash but I need some sort of way to get cardio and so far this and a standard recumbent trike are my best options. The bike was actually the cheapest and had the extra help I was hoping for. I guess that’s stupid to most.

    Leo, almost every one of those steel fasteners going into aluminum threads should be getting hydrophobic grease on the threads during assembly. Give that bike 2-3 years or less for galvanic reaction to take place and freeze those fasteners in there and when they go to remove it will either rip out the threads or break the fastener.

      Good question. The threads have been treated with electrophoretic clearcoat in the same process as the whole frame. This method is similar to, for example, stems. They anodize the stems and use steel bolts. You could add some grease to be more secure, but it's unnecessary.

    Can you make me a mullet one with 440-445 chainstay :D

      The chainstay length is all about balancing riding characteristics in climbing and descending. Our chainstay length could be already decreased, but we need to look at the whole wheel path to optimize the bicycle geometry to cornering. The 455 is optimal. We have used this throughout our lineup in the past as well.
