The Port Lowdown offers detailed and fun videos about cruise ports and destinations, helping independent, budget-minded travelers save time and money. We found that many videos lack the details we needed, such as parking, restrooms, available services, and even sidewalk quality. We act as your "port scout", providing first-hand reports on essential information that others overlook; our videos cover port terminals, independent excursions, goods, services, transportation and even ship tours. With time ticking away during your port visit, we understand the importance of sound planning to make every moment count.
Let us give you the Lowdown!

Nice to see inside these two Terminals. I'm a limo driver down here. Been dropping off and picking up customers usually in a van for over twenty years for the same company. I've seen all these places thousands of times. But so far haven't been in these terminals.
Glad to oblige! But I hope you get to go on a cruise yourself sometime! Thanks again!
Another great video. Concise and detailed. Thanks.
Thank you!
This video was perfect for what I needed just before leaving for the princess cruises today!ðð―
You're welcome! Have an awesome trip!
Which app do you use for hotels/atm/food info? This is very informative! We have a cruise booked in Nov 25 but Iâm very excited so of course Iâm watching as many videos as possible! I just found your channel ! Iâm sure I will be using so many of your tips! Thankyou!
Great video! I walk off with my luggage and take a cab to the airport. Thatâs essential if youâre in a rush to catch your flight.
Yep. That's what we do exactly. Very short trip to the airport! We just have carry ons.
Thank you for this. My cruise leaves in about a week. So this was very helpful. Helps me manage+plan my travel time to port better.
@DuttyGyal718 Perfect! That's what we aim for. Have a great trip!!
@@ThePortLowdown Thank You. Super excited. Think Ill arrive in the afternoon.. Should be less crowds by that time.
@DuttyGyal718 Kinda depends. For the most part, arrive about an hour or so before embarkation closes, if you're comfortable with that. 2 hours before closing is also close to the sweet spot.
@@ThePortLowdown Yeah. I normally do that here in NYC. Cruise is set to sail at 3PM, so I belive 2Pm is the cut off time which means I get at the port terminal around 1PM. Im staying in the area so it wont be more than a 15 minute drive tops.
@DuttyGyal718 Sounds good. Have an awesome trip!
Thanks for the video. Very informative. We are sailing with Princess out of Port Everglades' in November. Believe we are scheduled to leave from Terminal 2, so this is right up our alley.
You're quite welcome! Have an awesome cruise!
This is very helpful, I am leaving from NYC, and didnât realize I will need more than an hour just to board.
A lot depends on crowds. We're currently on an Alaska Princess Cruise, and boarding in Vancouver took about that long too. Over booking in general has been persistent.
Just a note on the chaotic traffic at Port Everglades... its been that chaotic forever!! P.S. Loved your tips for Boston. Plan to use them in soon.
Cool. Thanks for the kind words! I guess I was keying off our Uber driver who did NOT like the traffic there. Lots of drivers were getting lost there, for some reason. Anyway, I'm from LA so it's water off my back.
What time did you get to the airport after debarkation?
The drive itself only takes about 20 min. With the added hour for the ride, 1 1/2 hours give and take. Need to assume traffic collecting at the pick up area.
Forgot to mention. Last time we took a taxi stationed outside and that cut our wait time. We were the first ones out too because we had a flight that morning. That case took about 30 min. So the long wait really depends on your wait time at port.
I really donât understand why princess boarding looks so chaotic compared to other cruises
Depends on the port, really. Ft Lauderdale was actually pretty smooth, just really crowded. New York Brooklyn was a bit chaotic. Italy was REALLY messy. So it depends on the staffing and organization of the host port.
