Yank here. I have a 57 Chevy Bel Air 4 door (no post)…. I am looking to do a bare metal finish on here, offset by all that chrome. Suicide the rear doors. Tobacco colored leather finish.
Hook an Airstream coach on the back and call her “57 Bel Air Stream”

Sounds awesome :) I've thought about suicide doors on the back too.

Thanks, it's not quite worked out as planned as it has gained a bit of patina, I will do a follow up video soon.

Hi Mark, I have a walk round video of the Chevy that was shot about 18 months later. It’s doing pretty well.

@@markdavis2475 there was some initial reaction where it browned a bit under the lacquer but it’s stayed stable since

@@midcenturyscotland Cool, thanks for the info. I had to special order the Owtrol. Got it now. Almost finished the welding! I probably will have it painted but not for a year or two!

Thanks for the prompt I've been meaning to do a follow up, it's not quite worked out as I planned. After treating the whole car I had to get it outside to paint underneath. During the first couple of days there was a patina like reaction in the clear, a light rust. It stopped reacting after a few days and seems to be fixed now. I did 1300 miles in it over the last few weeks down to the NSRA Supernats amd Aberdeen, it got exposed to a lot of rain but still hasn't got any worse so it seems that its OK. There is a clip of the car right at the start of this video th-cam.com/video/FO0cSSQcYh8/w-d-xo.html so you can see. I will do a full follow up video soon.
