  • I take a 2012 Carrera kraken and swap out the 26" wheels for 27.5" wheels. Then replace the old 26" XCR coil forks for a set of 27.5" Remote Lockout Air Forks, requiring a headset change in the process. Also I up the bikes climbing potential by fitting a 42t Cassette and adjusting the derailleur and B screw.

Should of done a mullet build 27.5 on the front 26 on the rear that way you'd have more clearance for wider tires

Yes, maybe. Not sure that was even a thing when I made the video, certainly not something I was aware of.
We've just recently decided to return it to a 26er as my wife has never taken to it in this guise and certainly it isn't ideal.
Overall, personally I would say it's not worth it, particularly if you were having to buy the 27.5 parts.

I have a Carrera Vulcan which is worn out with heavy use.
Is the Vengeance better than the Kraken?
Thinking of one of these as a replacement.

My experience of Vengeances are that they have only cable operated brakes, only 8 speed cassettes, integrated brake lever and gear shifters, very basic and heavy forks and only T6 aluminium for the frame.
Styling wise the vengeance has a more modern look, but it is a huge case of form over function. Relative to the Kraken a Vegeance is of much lower spec.
      Specs across model years varies.

@@fixitfallows I just managed to look at a Kraken today. way better all around than both Vulcan and Vengence.
