Al Jazeera is really quite good. It gives you the section mainstream media offers and then offers a voice or discussion to the other side. Never watched it before.
To my mind, the BBC News is the HAMAS BUREAU and I will never watch their news coverage of anything ever again. I still watch Match of the Day but, speaking as a Manchester United supporter, that's fast becoming as painful as the Hamas News at 10!

In the immediate aftermath of the Oct 7 massacres. A great many citizens of Gaza came out on the streets to celebrate. They celebrated those heinous acts long before Israeli retaliation had began. They came out in numbers to spit on the body of a poor girl who was driven around their streets in the bed of an open truck.
They know Israel, they knew that they had sown the wind and were about to reap the whirlwind , yet still they celebrated.
The problem is deeper than Hamas, the problem is the death cult from which it springs. A death cult of zealots that treasure death more than life. A death cult that seeks martyrdom so much , that it will never forgive but instead incessantly probe a powerful enemy purely because it wants a backlash, that will impose martyrhood on some of it's advocates, and victimhood on those that remain - thus ensuring martyrs for the future.
I understand now why the Gazans have not made their territory a "Dubai" on the Mediteranean. To do so would require them to turn away from victinhood and embrace life, instead of death.

Incredible but true. I had a serious disagreement with a member of my family who supported the Palestinian state. Essentially they cannot see the moral cowardice they and many more showing in their support for Palestine ergo hamas. Many people celebrated when these atrocities took place. I don't think the Israeli government are lilly white in their treatment of Palestinian people. But two wrongs do not make a right. The attack by hamas, the democratically government of the Palestinian people, was an insight into how they would behave when encouraged to escalate the attacks on Israel. Shame on anyone celebrating the barbarick acts carried out by hamas. You will not be able to deny your moral cowardice in the future.
That's the point though. Hamas are not the poor Gazans.
This family member of yours needs to understand that Hamas are the ones harming the Gazan civilians. And goodness knows how many rockets fired from within Gaza have failed and fallen on Gaza's civilians.

I am appalled by the BBC coverage of this. I'm 68 and have listened almost exclusively to the BBC on breakfast TV (when it existed !) and radio 4 news all my life; no more.
Just one tiny recent example; ' the result of an Israeli strike on a refugee camp'; it was in the camera shot; its a collection of blocks of flats; it's NOT a 'camp', whether they are or are not 'refugees'; I wouldn't want to live there but I've seen a LOT worse in south London. However the BBC people live in North London-which is the problem.
