I like that you still using your finger to detect the chip doing something. That is a super old trick I used to use back in the 80s, cannot believe folks still do that. I also like you make it look easy to change a chip with that package, that is some skill. Good stuff, I just hope my 1070ti does not go bad for a few years.

Is that the latest version of GPU-z? Because earlier versions only detected the GPU from the BIOS through the driver. The newer version looks at the chip from a hardware level, which works on all GPU's. It will let you know if the chip is fake. A very nice feature for those dealing with used graphics cards, and concerned they might be flashed with the wrong BIOS, in order to fake a newer card. Awesome work! Have a great day!

I love your videos ! I have a question. My 1080ti from gigabyte no more works i have a black screen an the card is no more detected under windows. But fans are still running (not in full speed) and leds are on. The gpu temperature increases when it's powered on. So I imagine no short ... but I don't know where to start. Do you have an update on the other GTX 1070? In The Part 2 video, you missed 2 balls on the left middle side of the chip. That is what caused those artifacts on the screen.
Your videos are great but you should make a video on list of steps to follow when repairing any thing. This will make things simpler and easy for everybody

question about those mining P106 6G , I can get them real cheap and I wondered since I am able to solder hdmi etc to board if it is possible I can do this with such card? know much about it, and what chips I might require if they have been removed? the PCB shows headers for dvi, hdmi and displayport but backplate is fan grill... Great videos, thank you! I believe you're putting too much thermal compound though. My understanding is that too much is not necessarily better. I'd put a third of what you used. You should see a very thin and almost transparent layer of paste.
I have a 1070 with artifact and when I start Windows after a while the screen stops signaling and the computer restarts. I have done the reflow technique but still exactly the same idea of whether reballing can be solved it? I would be willing to send it to you if I could do a miracle with her xd
Reballing/reflow is BS (This is coming from a BGA tech) Look up flip chip design and you may understand what is happening when a reflow appears to fix a card. Its the connection between the substrate and die that fails rather than the BGA soldering between the sub and board. Few things can cause artifacts and depends on the pattern if any etc to what it may be Upload a video and link it and we should be able to help :)

take off ur gpu from ur pc and put vga cable on ur motherbored to get to the desktop delete the old driver using ddu (app) and delete gpu twek app too when u do that turn off ur pc and plug ur gpu again this time put ur hdmi or vga whatever u using then turn on ur pc it will display this time then install new nvidia driver and enjoy
Okay but I was almost successful to install the driver but whenever it asks to restart the pc it turn off and I got a black screen and it automatically stop using the gpu and start to use the onboard graphics instead

Sir I think the paste is too much. Just a pea-size will do as it will spread once heat sink is applied. But good job on your videos. Already subbed!

What is the 4R7 inductor for right under the SLI connector? If it get too hot and got damaged, is it caused by a short?
