People who are complaining about this inconveniencing others, she’s flying with southwest where there is OPEN SEATING! She’s not stealing anyone’s seat as it is first come first serve. Whether she brings that seat on the plane or not, no one is inconvenienced as no one is assigned that seat. Also, when you have a flight that is not full and you have an infant with you, most people will not want to sit next to you if you don’t have to. Seat would probably remain unused. Leave her be
You say that till every other tik tok mom sees this and becomes entitled ...then seats become full fast and free for her means less money for the company
@@rachaelk7866 yeah exactly… she should’ve kept this one to herself lol. like seriously, what happens when everyone decides to take this shortcut? and funnily enough, tik tok moms tend to usually have the money to spend for the child they chose to have (and exploit oop).
@@rachaelk7866It's not like she's taking the seat from anyone. It's only if there's empty seats already. Sometimes there's flights that are not full. It's not even people with babies who benefit from this. My mom and I are both bigger people(not so big where we need to purchase an extra seat but big enough that it's uncomfortable on a flights squeezed next to people) on one of our last flights there were enough empty seats that they gave us a thing to put in the seat between us so we could have some extra space. It wasn't taking the seat from anyone as there was plenty of seating. Same things with this mom. It only happens when there's extra seating already

Sometimes I hate this because I pay and chose a window seat and then one time I got on the plane to go to my seat and the lady was like sorry I have to have the window seat because I have a car seat. Airlines should make it where you have the option to choose if you have a car seat and if so sit you at a window seat instead of leaving others blindsided like this tbh.
You have the option to refuse to give up the seat you paid extra for. Then the car seat wouldn't be allowed on. That is the parents fault for not paying for an extra seat in advance.
*chucks the car seat* “now you don’t😊” but seriously, as someone who goes out of their way to pay for window seats as well due to my flight anxiety…that wouldn’t have gone over well with me
Retired flight attendant here - here’s the catch - if I rearrange folks and move heaven & earth to get you seated next to an empty window seat (which is where the car seat had to go) - you have to KEEP THE BABY IN IT WHENEVER THE FASTEN SEAT BELT SIGN IS ON.
@@dreahdickinson9602it means that, as a parent, you better make sure you keep your little baby fastened in on that car seat when the seatbelt signs are on rather than keeping them on your lap where theyre at risk of getting dropped and thrown about in the cabin in case you, the irresponsible parent who wouldnt secure the baby in the car seat, happen to shit yourself on some turbulence and lose your grip of the baby.
@@hoesmad8445 that doesn’t discredit the point chief. Less than a 1% chance turbulence is strong enough to endanger a baby. Been flying my whole life. Landing is rougher than turbulence majority of the time.
If people have to pay to take their dogs which go under a seat then people should pay if their kid takes a seat. Every person going on a plane should have a seat booked for them, it's also safer because holding a kid is not safe especially in emergencies.
Dogs aren't children and children, definitely aren't dogs. Children, believe it or not, are people (and arguably more important people) who need a little extra since the world today isnt built for them.
@@Haley_777.14 exactly. So if a lesser being (a dog) needs to pay for room on a flight, a human baby should need to have to pay for a seat on the flight. Your comment literally just backs up what OP is saying
@Ruffles2012 Kids do have to pay for a seat. The woman in the video was asking IF there was an extra window seat for her child. If there wasn't, she wouldn't bring the kids' car seat, and the kid would sit in her lap. Sometimes, I wonder if people actually watch the video before commenting.
@@Haley_777.14How are you not understanding what people are trying to tell you? The baby should have a seat bought beforehand, not sit in their lap. Sure it's a standard accepted practice, but for example if there is an emergency or even regular flight issues like turbulence, it's so dangerous for a baby. I always bought a seat for my kids so they could always have their own seats, would not have imagined to pull stuff like this.
I may be in the minority but… just pay for the second seat. Or stay home. Airlines shouldn’t allow this scheme. Babies need to be in a car seat in a car. There should be baby alternate transportation seats. For buses, planes, trains, subways, light rail etc. Society does up all this child safety schtick… but.., only for cars/pickup trucks/Suv’s. Etc. Makes 0 sense.
Ok ,calm down, they aren’t being entitled there simply asking if there are any extra seats available at a time when pretty much no one else can get it anyway ,it would have been empty otherwise, also even if there wasent one it’s not a scam to check a bag for free somtimes people have to do that if they can’t lift the bag(flight attendants aren’t supposed to help)so plz calm down and get a life maybe you’ll understand when/if you ever have kids ,have a good life
People with kids are not second class citizen therefore they do not need their own separate transportation. You don’t like it? Take your own advice and stay home.
@@Deadly_Potato If a person pays for the window seat they are entitled to sit at the window seat. They paid for the view outside the window. The mother can easily buy two seats besides each other if she wants to use the car seat. We always paid for extra window seats when our parents were going on airplane trips so that we could use our own car seat. I don’t understand why modern mothers have to be so entitled to demand a window seat when they haven’t payed for one in the first place.
@@theodoramina4142 this is southwest lol you pick your seat when you get on the airplane you just pay for a seat on the plane you don’t pick it before hand lol
She is flying Southwest this means that there is no assigned seating and no one has paid extra for a window seat. And the people who have paid extra to board first and get first choice are boarded before families with small children (and yes families with small children do get to board earlier then most so she isn’t going to have to kick anyone out of that window seat.) She is doing everything right and is being very respectful and she even said if there isn’t seating she doesn’t complain. If she was flying another airline then some of these comment might be valid. Please stop calling every person who tries to save a bit of money (especially since kids themselves are expensive) entitled. Lots of flights aren’t completely full and this is obviously fine with the airline. I flew southwest just two days ago and when boarding both my flights we were told to feel free to spread out a bit as the flights were not full.
It’s an EMPTY SEAT!?! They check the seating plan before allowing her on! Remember she’s at the gate now so all seats are mostly designated and they can accurately check how full the flight is. I’ve never done this, & we travel with our 4 young children often but I don’t get why people are so stressed. Recently my lil sis went away (to NY via British airways) and they got bumped up to business class so they could sit a large family together. Those of you should be applauding this because it’s more likely you’ll get a free upgrade. Either this is an American problem or you all don’t know your rights?
A lot of women do this and when we tell them no they can’t carry their car seat on they get very upset and want to speak to a supervisor.. But yes this actually works with SWA if the flight isn’t full. At times I don’t think it’s fair because everyone else had to pay for a seat but it is what it is, life is never fair.
Why isn't it fair? If seats are free, even single adults use them without asking (putting up the armrests for more room, even lying down if the entire row is empty). You're saying you wouldn't take advantage of that if it happened? You'd want to be charged for taking up 2 extra unoccupied seats?
@@Anthony-vt1kp I do if this is what u do on a daily basis when u fly seats can literally run anywhere from $150-300 so for someone to inconvenience someone else who paid for their seat is annoying sometimes people will move to have the child sit next to the mom and I’m sorry but that’s why people pick out seats before buying them
Shoot, it's easier than it was 18yrs ago. Y'all have the ones that roll with handles now. 😂 I remember the first time I traveled with my oldest; I had a whole army of stuff in that big ol diaper bag 😂😂
I know flight attendants. They never check them. It's a safety thing. They know how much bag move and get handled. Which could very easily ruin the car seat, to where It's not safe. Plus, it is safer in cases of bad tabalance.
My 3 kids are older now 27,23,21 and I decide to drive yes it’s painful but could never put them on that plane with them crying screaming not staying still especially in public places is the reason why I waited until they where 8 each to go on a plane
My wife and I are reluctantly traveling with our 1-year-old son for the first time. These comments are rough… regardless of whether we bought an extra seat, we had to pay $70 for our son to fly. We opted not to pay an additional $1,300 to buy him a seat for a 2-hour flight (as the airline allows). We won’t do what this video advises; he will sit in my or my wife’s lap. I’m sure this is a controversial decision, but this is the best option for our situation. I am hoping the flight goes smoothly, but children can be moody. I hope people are understanding and patient with us, although these comments indicate otherwise…
Great Hack! Taking an empty seat isn’t hurting anyone and doesn’t take me money out of anyone’s pockets so I’m not sure why everyone is so offended. Ignore them & continue to enjoy your free seat. I will be trying this for my next flight
It makes zero sense to not have your child strapped into their car seat that should be strapped into a plane seat when they have to be in one for cars. There's a documentary about a plane crash where every baby was killed because they told the parents to put them on the floor between their legs. No car seats, no seatbelts, not even to hold them. Of course they listened because they were panicked and why wouldn't the airline know what to do right? Think before you just agree to insane things like not having your baby strapped into a plane.
Even if you pay to take the car seat on you still have to hold the baby for take off and landing - the baby wears a seatbelt attached to the adult’s. I was surprised about this too.
Seatbelts and safety seats should definitely be mandatory for every age of human on board. Turbulence has caused many a head trauma and death. What’s so sad is that they could literally create a couple rows with built in “carseats” that basically fold down from the back seat cushion.
It wasnt every single baby that died on the flight.. But, yes they were told to put babies on the floor. 😔 (im guessing youre talking about United Airlines Flight 232?)
Like every other period of time, it depends on when and where the flight is happening. The last three times I've flown we have been on a plane that is almost empty, like 20 people max.
I’m a mom and I paid for my kids seat..I have to make sure I secure a seat for my children-it’ll have my anxiety up. Still, I don’t think this is a big problem; As long as no one is giving up the seat they paid for then no harm done. This can be smart by doing it the right way, but to save the hassle and anxiety..i’d just pay.
1) why would there ever be empty seats on flights?? I’m convinced that never happens. 2) I understand that paying for another seat is hard but taking one for free isn’t right either.
I’ve been on a couple flight that weren’t full I think it’s mostly the destination. I have done this once before but because the plane had empty seats and my son was tiny and it wasn’t my idea either it was actually the flight attendant who told me about it.
I had flights not even half full. My row was empty as well as the two before and after my row. Well, the baby is free on the lap. I would say most people claim more room if the seat next to them is empty
@@tf3655 Yes! This! Every single ranting person here would 100% claim more room if the seat beside them was empty. I was on an international flight so empty that the crew told us all to pick out our own row and get comfy.
The chances of a seat being open next you randomly is NONE. That was someone paid for ticket that then had to be moved to yes an extra seat, rather than your child taking that extra seat Just pay for the seat. No one wants to sit next to you and your "lap" (almost 2) "baby". For those saying it doesn't matter because the seat was empty, many times people on stand by will get on plane before departure and the baby is the first to go on lap, and you know the mother going to be making faces. Please don't be entitle Edit: Jetblue you have to reserve the seat, so say yes there was a extra seat, but Johnny is sitting next to you and the extra seat is somewhere else then that means a)Johnny has to sit next to the 2 year old b) Johnny has to move c)Tell parents to reserve seats a head of time so families can sit together (bc the person that paid for that seat doesn't get reimbursed for being a "good" citizen when mom can afford the seat). Don't get me wrong I will move, but you have to move me to a better seat
….stop saying bullshit if you know nothing. Airlines do not allow you to pay for your seat is you have a baby. They force you to do counter check in where they will give you your sits. Even if parents of infants wanted to do as you say it is not allowed
Although you fly southwest where there are no assigned seats, I think people are still getting upset maybe because they have paid for a seat and most people want the window seat, but because you’re a mother with a baby you will be loaded on the plane before everyone else and because the car seat has to be by a window you’ll have first dibs on a window seat that you didn’t pay for while people that did pay are stuck in the isle seat. I totally think it’s ok to use a seat that nobody is in, but maybe you load the plane last and whatever seats are left then you chose one of those as your free seat
I get if you don’t want someone to take the seat you paid extra for, but this isn't that situation. I've been on plenty of flights where there are many empty seats in the back, nobody paid extra for them, nobody is flying their family in them. They are just empty and people on the plane will often ask to use them to lay down. It's doesn't harm or take anything away from anyone to simply ask if there are extra seats available. So many people here are just hating for no reason 😂
You can just request for a bassinet in advance, in some airlines you don't even have to pay and you are also eligible to book the cot seat for free where you get space in front of the seat to attach the bassinet. If you are traveling with an infant selecting seat is almost always free.
@@lissaw4 Most flights have them. There are only some places in the plane where it's even possible to have them, in the area right in front of the cabin (sometimes charged as economy plus these days).
I am so sick and tired of entitled people who think everything in life should be free to them. It's not fair to anyone sitting in a seat next to her and her "lap" baby. That person isn't getting a free seat for having to deal with a parent holding a toddler in one already too small space! A toddler should be in their own seat and belted in properly. That involves purchasing a seat for the child. As a parent, one would think that would be a first priority. The airlines need to address this issue up front and not make exceptions for "entitled" folks who demand 2 for the price of 1! Perhaps they could offer a discounted fare for babies and their car seats. Window seats are now considered premium seats and cost more. Why should someone who has already paid more be moved to accommodate parents who want the space at no additional cost?

I don't get why so many of you are pissed in the comments. They are flying Southwest. There are no assigned seats. Nobody paid extra for that window seat. If there is an open seat the airline lets her use it. If there isn't an open seat she gate checks the car seat like normal.
@@deanaelizabart8595 The 737 that Southwest uses has 46 window seats available. Although not impossible it does seem highly unlikely that 46 passengers will pay extra for priority boarding specifically for a window seat, especially on a flight that has open seats, and on an airline designed for more affordable travel. Paying extra to board early doesn't guarantee you a window seat either. If having a window seat means so much maybe pay for an assigned seat ticket on a different airline.
They're mad because people can't stand good things happening to people who aren't them. Like who cares if a mom gets free seating for her baby every now and then? That's literally only gonna be possible for 2 years at most.
Lady tried to do this and move me from my window seat so she could put her baby there. I said forget it. The gate agent told her they couldn’t make me switch and she had to stick with the lap baby.
Super dangerous for your seat, they say it is no longer safe for your baby after a gate check. The other issue is, you should pay to ensure the seat because a child on a lap is at majorly dangerous. There was turbulence on a plane that cracked a grown man’s skull what would happen if a baby was on your lap.
I watched a show once that showed a mother with tremendous guilt because her baby died in the plane crash because she felt she didn't hold onto him tight enough, that it was her fault. Another survivor showed her that the baby would have died no matter what, because she never could have held onto him through the impact of the crash. The airlines required parents to hold their child on their lap under 3 yrs old if you didn't buy a separate seat. So the 2 got in a car and strapped in the mother held a 30 lbs tool box in her arms as tight as she could then the driver drove 90 mph into a cement wall. The tool box was ripped from moms arms,, adults survived minus tool box.

And even if they can’t remember the trips that they went on they will still have those happy memories somewhere and the family (like the parents) get to experience some amazing moments with their kids memories that are more for the parents then for the kids and that’s beautiful because some people treat kids like ornaments and don’t really talk to them until they’re adults because they see them as nuisances. Lap babies are in danger during turbulence. For the childs safety she should purchase a seat and use the car seat. This video is not a good recommendation, so people are vocal about it.
You know it's not fair when you have to pay 30 40 something dollars for a seat.. I always have to.. Heck ni..if there was a carseat in my seat they'd have to move it..
I checked in my car seat and my kiddo was in my lap the whole flight. For one, it's still free when they're 2 and younger. For two, you don't screw over other people who have already paid for a seat. And for three, my literal 11 month old, didn't make a peep so much so that people didn't know there was a baby on the 6 hour flight. 🤷🏽♀️ I accredit half to my kids personality but snacks were all I needed before he passed out for the rest of the flight 😂

@@raerohan4241 clearly so is yours because you can't read my comment correctly. You're literally stronger than them, just make them sit down it's not hurting them by teaching them to be respectful of other people's space. Also I said normally the child is just bored and hungry so they act out and it's not difficult to handle it depending on their personality. Leave to people like you on the Internet to not have the attention span to read.
I see no issue with it unless it's disrupting a paying customer. I can't stand people who think they're entitled, people who paid for their seat shouldn't have to give up their paid seat because someone didnt want to pay to choose their seat so now their kids are split up. Someone's poor planning isn't my problem. Last time I was asked to move from my window seat to a middle seat in the back I told them I would be happy to move but would require the amount I paid for my seat selection to be reimbursed in cash before I move. The airline charged me for this seat, so if you want it, you can pay for it.
Y’all just like to get mad over nothing 🙄 she said IF there is an empty seat IIIIIIIIFFFFFF… if they say no she put the seat on the padded cover and hold her baby so how is she acting entitled? And the comments about the baby not paying let me know y’all have no kids cause every single baby pay to go on the plane even if it’s a newborn! Furthermore we are talking about kids and they need a little more assistance sometimes just like pregnant women do because it’s special circumstances! She never said I demand that Avery one cater to me! People’s hearts really are colder than ice these days!
Ok, but if you ask me to switch with you for the window seat…I will decline. You made a choice not to book this destination advance and other people aren’t responsible for your child.
Gate checking luggage is the most common way to experience having lost luggage. 10 yrs working at the largest airline in the US. Please be kind to airline employees.
Airline girl here. Its mandatory for the carseat to be in the window but you should coordinate that in your reservation before hand. DON'T rely on is because its a hassle to move seats last night. Pay in advance so that you have no worries especially on a full flight.
please don’t do this. many flight crew families rely on empty seats to see each other over holiday. therefore when you can’t pay for a seat for your car seat it is preventing our families for seeing each other. airline families need those “empty” seats.
By that logic flight crew families should also just pay for their own seats. I mean don’t do this over the holidays but other times it’s a great tip for moms
Just pay for the second seat. My concern always is, if there’s turbulence or an emergency landing that doesn’t go well, and you’re trying to be cheap, that baby will fly out of your arms faster than you say boo. If that happens, don’t blame the airline. I know you’re probably thinking you’re being an influencer or something, but I beg to differ. This is your child’s welfare. Pay for the second seat, and stop trying to be braggy about how you’re saving money. I’d personally prefer to focus on saving a life if I had to choose which one to make the video about.
New Parents these days feel they're entitled for any and all kind of help for taking care of their kid. Kids are a choice, if you don't wish to bear all expenses and care that they need help with, don't have one.
What expenses? The kid is under 2, he'd be flying free anyways in her lap. That is a service offered by ALL airlines. But if there's a seat free, there's literally no reason why she can't make both herself and her kid more comfortable. And tell me straight, if you were flying and there was an empty seat next to you, would you say in the confined of your own seat or would you take the rare opportunity for extra room?
I always bought my child a seat because it's incredibly dangerous not too. An infant is impossible to hold onto in turbulence or if you have to get oxygen masks on. If you don't have a car seat for your infant they will force you to stuff your baby under the seat in front of you so they don't get bludgeoned to death flying around the cabin. Not worth it. Nope.
There's a lot of misleading information here. Is the car seat FAA approved? Did you purchase a seat if the child is over two years old? Lap child under two years old sits on the parent's lap.
That's not a fair system and I'm saying that as a single person flyer. Why should I pay for extra when you just expect it for free. I hope you get blacklisted from all airlines with this tricck and have to cough up like the rest of us
Hi, I'm cabin crew, and just to let people know, rear facing infant seats can only be used during flight when the seat belt sign is off. It has to be stowed in the overhead locker during takeoff, landing, and turbulence. This can be a struggle finding space when the overhead lockers are full.
Shouldn’t the baby be facing towards? I would prefer to have my baby on my lap strapped in with a seatbelt so in an emergency I can do the brace position and protect the baby from flying debris.
my mom, mom of three, has always paid for each of us. me and my siblings were only one year apart, so when i was flying as a baby with my super young siblings, my parents would pay for windows for us.
All these people getting butt hurt because all you did was ask for accommodations and they *gasps* accommodated you😮 it’s not like you demanded a seat or anything you just simply ask if there’s space and then you even show what you do in a scenario where there’s not 😂 man the Internet is crazy
Lol, look how she hearted you comment but leaves sassy replies/ ignores all the one’s disagreeing with her 😂. Also, lemme explain: So, she asks if there is a free seat, and the car seat has to go in a window seat which is more premium and costs extra, so it is very likely that the extra seat is NOT the seat that was vacant, meaning that when she puts her car seat in that seat, whoever was sitting there is kicked to “the vacant seat” which will not have been a window seat (which they PAID for) meaning she gets to take someone’s premium seat. Do you get it now?
AND - The DAY your child turns two, you hafta buy a seat for them, and they must be secured in it whenever the seatbelt sign is on. Period. Even if they cry, fuss, even if you WANT to hold them - secured. In seat.
Just buy the seats you need, it’s no different from asking if there’s free seats in business class, it’s not like you can just sit there when you haven’t paid for it.
As a flight attendant you shouldn't worry about what people spend their money on or how much they safe. You are there to serve and keep people safe in case of an emergency. As a flight attendant your opinion is of no concern. I hope that if you find yourself in this position that you treat the pax the same as everyone else. You represent the airline and your colleagues were the ones who granted the pax a vacant seat. If you were a paying pax, I could understand the jealousy. As a crew member; I cannot. Don't let your colleagues down.
I guess on the very idea it might ever inconvenience them if they wanted a window seat 🤷♂️. Or how dare a mother & baby get beneficial treatment when "I have to pay full price". It's kind of strange she literally said it doesn't always work if there's no room & the plan b is she packs up the carrier.

She could be visiting family in Wisconsin for all WE know. I'm just joking, but seriously, people need to chill it's just an empty seat. I live in Orlando, and even when I went to SoCal, it was only 80% full. The only full flights I've been on are coming home or going somewhere touristy or in travel season. My flight to South Carolina was so empty that almost everyone got a window seat!
It's cool to hate on children + treat parents like second class citizens these days, that's why. If it was a single male doing this with a whole row of seats so he could lie down for the flight, people would be calling him a genius.
I think it would be more apt to ask if there are any empty window seats. Because people often have to pay extra for a window seat or they have that preference for whatever reason. Blindsiding people is not nice. Or you could book yourself a window seat always and ask for any free seats..
She did ask for an empty window seat. Nobody was blindsided in this video, but sure, I agree that’s not nice. People pay extra for window seats, but they also don’t have to give up their seat.
How did we manage in the early 80's? You had to check the buggy/stroller in with yr luggage. So you have toddler to deal with in departures. Then said toddler had to sit on yr knee. Try eating your in-flight meal. Anyway didn't spoil our holiday 😊
Cool, plane tickets are expensive! it’s safer for the baby if they are in the car seat and safer for the car seat (by extension the baby again), if it’s not checked. A checked car seat is a crashed car seat and which needs replacing to protect the child in future accidents. Just check with the airline ahead to check that your car seat is approved though.
Before airlines started packing us up like sardines there used to be empty seats. United always gave me a free seat for my baby and were always happy to help. It's not a scheme as many think it is. My child flew for free up until she was 3. Thank you United for always helping and giving when you can. 🙏 ❤
Can honestly say I don’t remember the last time when I took a flight that wasn’t full. And I travel a lot for work, with 2 flights each way. Non-full planes are not the norm anymore. Trusting baggage handlers to not throw the car seat and trusting it to not be damaged during the flight while stored with other luggage is also wild to me. Most manufacturers have a “replace after any crash - even a fender bender” policy, so I can’t imagine car seats are even safe under planes. If you’re flying with a little, please just buy the seat.
maybe im not getting something but why are people upset...she literally said she asks if there's enough empty seats...if there is an empty seat why shouldnt she be able to use it, if there was someone who had bought that window seat, they can just be relocated to another window seat. unless all the window seats were taken i cant really see an issue here
Car seat can only go on a window seat, which is usually a more desired seat. They’re the first seats to fill, so someone is being moved out of their premium seat so she can put her baby there.
what if an adult showed up and said 'are there extra seats' and asked to fly for free -- would you feel the same...that they don't have to pay but you did?
It's up to the airline to provide her with the perk. She asked, first. They can decline. If the plane isn't full, they will probably allow it. Their choice.

To be fair *most people* don't survive plane crashes
Seatbelts and safety seats should definitely be mandatory for every age of human on board. Turbulence has caused many a head trauma and death. What’s so sad is that they could literally create a couple rows with built in “carseats” that basically fold down from the back seat cushion.
It wasnt every single baby that died on the flight.. But, yes they were told to put babies on the floor. 😔 (im guessing youre talking about United Airlines Flight 232?)
True, but planes crash so much less than cars do
I don’t think flights have empty seats anymore. Most of them have multiple people waiting to have a seat open to fill.
It definitely depends when and where you're flying.
Last flights I’ve taken have had tons
Yeah it totally depends. I've been on numerous flights that were not full.

Huh? Empty seats are super common. One time I flew from France to the US and had an entire row to myself.
The one and only time I flew I had a row to myself for all 4 flights so

You're missing one key fact: she's flying Southwest, and they don't have assigned seats in the first place.
The airlines need to address this issue up front and not make exceptions for "entitled" folks who demand 2 for the price of 1!
I've flown internationally with only 8-10 people (I remember cus once we took off, we laid down flat on the 3 seats)
Airline girl here. Its mandatory for the carseat to be in the window but you should coordinate that in your reservation before hand. DON'T rely on is because its a hassle to move seats last night. Pay in advance so that you have no worries especially on a full flight.
They were flying Southwest, they don't have assigned seating
please don’t do this. many flight crew families rely on empty seats to see each other over holiday. therefore when you can’t pay for a seat for your car seat it is preventing our families for seeing each other. airline families need those “empty” seats.
Dumb lol. You’re just saying her reason for getting a free seat isn’t valid but yours is. Still handing out free seats.
But she seems proud after doing this
By that logic flight crew families should also just pay for their own seats.

So it's about money, really. Greedy bunch. She's not stealing out of your pocket.
Nope.
Few times I have flown there have not been any empty seats at all. We were packed in there like sardines.

Infant seats are not made to face forward. Car seats should be used in the same direction as they do in a car.
Mom of four children. I have never not paid for an airline seat.
my mom, mom of three, has always paid for each of us. me and my siblings were only one year apart, so when i was flying as a baby with my super young siblings, my parents would pay for windows for us.
Also, lemme explain:
So, she asks if there is a free seat, and the car seat has to go in a window seat which is more premium and costs extra, so it is very likely that the extra seat is NOT the seat that was vacant, meaning that when she puts her car seat in that seat, whoever was sitting there is kicked to “the vacant seat” which will not have been a window seat (which they PAID for) meaning she gets to take someone’s premium seat. Do you get it now?
AND - The DAY your child turns two, you hafta buy a seat for them, and they must be secured in it whenever the seatbelt sign is on. Period. Even if they cry, fuss, even if you WANT to hold them - secured. In seat.
Baby is not 2 yet. She's good to go until then.
Just pay for the seat.
Just buy the seats you need, it’s no different from asking if there’s free seats in business class, it’s not like you can just sit there when you haven’t paid for it.
Bet this woman is one of those who says a fat person should pay for an extra seat, yet feels entitled to get a free seat for her baby.
I never even had to ask. West-jet always booked me with a spare seat if possible 🙏🏼
As a Flight Attendant please stop being cheap and BUY A SEAT.
I’d rather pay 3x than look like I’m moving my child’s whole life through the airport. That looks exhausting
Why is everyone upset about a mother receiving some extra help to care for her child - at no inconvenience to anyone else?
I guess on the very idea it might ever inconvenience them if they wanted a window seat 🤷♂️. Or how dare a mother & baby get beneficial treatment when "I have to pay full price". It's kind of strange she literally said it doesn't always work if there's no room & the plan b is she packs up the carrier.
How about you book ur window seat before.

I've done this when my daughter was small. When i bought a seat for her, half the time she'd be chatting with the crew and i barely saw her.
Here’s how I mooch off the system…rather than paying for it or using sky miles. 😂
So what? Government steals a lot from U.S. citizens. Stealing from the "system" OK

Like you wouldn't take advantage of an empty seat beside you on a flight that isn't full?
