As a Hmong, it would be extremely hard to become homeless. The reason is because Hmong people usually have a strong support group. There will always be a family member willing to take them in. The only exception to this rule is when an individual becomes so out of control and reckless, refusing to change and help themself that even their family and loved ones gave up on them. They are more troublesome than not. Sad, but often a personal choice.
I see my brother in law in the back. Just know we helped as much as we can. Addiction is a disease. My husband and i are recovered addicts. Please continue to pray and go out and be kind to them who are lost !
All I gotta say is this, Hmong people are really "family oriented", to be homeless you have to be doing something really bad that your family doesn't want you. I seen families who have dead beat sons who can't hold a job and hang out with thugs every other day, and their family let them live with them even when the house barley fits enough people.
Not everyone is doing drugs. Some are sick, old, handicapped, unlucky. We are all the same. We all want to be happy and be prosperous. It’s just life; don’t look down; it’s not for the smart.
Most homeless people here in Fresno have severe mental issues. But also addiction issues. Both issues go hand in hand.

This breaks my heart. I had no idea we have some brothers and sisters homeless in st. Paul. I live in Brooklyn park mn. I have a significant amount of household essentials new and gently used that I know can help them out. How can I reach out?

You can bring to the camp site. From my experience going into these homeless camp sites, they are usually organized. You can drop off the items and they will distribute to everyone. I think people who go should be respectful to them. Avoid filming them if they don't want to be filmed.
Always go with a few other people.

Thank you for your kind heart brother and sister. I heard there are a lot of Hmong homeless in the city and want to help them too but I couldn't find where they were. Now I know and I will try my best to go help them. Please help them too even if some are drug addicts because everybody is one check away from being homeless

Bro, I feel you about the paycheck to paycheck thing. I’m from Fresno, CA and I know many Hmong and Hispanic people living near 2 bedroom apartments with 6-10 people. It’s so expensive to live. It’s so sad. Most of the people live like this. Houses in even lower socio economic areas in Fresno selling for $280k+! When the average wage/salary in Fresno is only like $40k. It’s very bad.

Very sad to see our hmong being homeless. No matter what happened in the past, we should help what we can and try to support and change lives. Their families should forgive too and look for them and provide support. Hmong people are hardly not known for being this homeless. I would like to support and help what I can.
We Hmong can never be homeless. It's the exposure to drugs and an enabling culture where people preferred the easy life style. There're plenty of work for everyone.

Everyone is 1 paycheck from homeless but back in the days Hmong trees have root. American Hmong seldom have root especially those born in the US. This is a normal process. This is part of assimilation. Put into perspective: 1% of 82,000 Hmong in MN is 820 people. There's only 30 of them homeless so we are well ahead of previous immigrants. This is good progress despite the hi inflation hardship we are in this country.
