Believing in Yourself: Kevin Hart's Road to Greatness

  • Tony Robbins uncovers what creates greatness in this interview with Kevin Hart. Making his name as a stand-up comedian, Kevin is also a successful actor, producer and business owner. He is unstoppable, but how did he get here? How does a former shoe salesman become one of the world’s highest-paid entertainers?
In this video series, Tony brings role models into his home to interview them about how they turned obstacles into opportunities. As Tony says, “The meeting of preparation with opportunity generates the offspring we call luck.”
Kevin agrees. His first tip is to take advantage of every possible opportunity that comes to you. Have no fear. Believe in yourself. Kevin says, “The one thing I’m most confident in is me. If I’m gonna lose I’m gonna lose on myself.” That’s an empowering belief system. Learn how to create your own at www.tonyrobbins.com/mind-mean... and overcome fear once and for all.
Kevin may have believed in himself, but his first jokes fell totally flat. Instead of allowing failure to bring him down, he chose to find the lesson. This is a principle he brings to every area of his life - he’s always learning, adapting and becoming a better entertainer, businessperson and man. He says, “If I don’t make those mistakes, I don’t get to be the man I am today. You’ve gotta take risks. But you have to learn from it.”
This is called a growth mindset, and it’s one thing all successful people have in common. As Tony puts it, it is the belief that “We can do, have and be exactly what we wish.” Discover how to develop a growth mindset at www.tonyrobbins.com/business/... and watch the video to hear more about:
Kevin’s role models and the life-changing impact of his mom
How he passes his principles of success to his children
Admitting that you don’t know it all - and staying curious
How to use the power of proximity to elevate your own life
Kevin Hart’s strategies for success mirror many of Tony’s own strategies. He covers them in-depth at his Business Mastery event, where you’ll learn how to create greatness directly from those who have done it themselves.
Business Mastery is the world’s premier business training event designed and hosted by the world’s #1 authority on personal growth, business transformation and peak performance - Tony Robbins. This five-day event equips entrepreneurs, business owners and operators with cutting-edge systems, skills and strategies not found anywhere else to create an invincible advantage against competitors.
Business Mastery is designed to help participants thrive in any economic climate as they discover critical factors impacting their businesses currently, and design an action plan for the next phase of growth, whether they seek more profits or an exit strategy. This includes marketing tips, maximizing a business’ digital presence to actually get seen and discovered online and how to anticipate and solve the biggest business problems.
During this comprehensive program, participants gain the same proprietary tools and methodologies Tony Robbins has used to make more than 70 businesses profitable. They’ll also unlock exclusive growth tips from industry giants from companies like Airbnb, OrangeTheory, Shake Shack, SoulCycle, Warby Parker and more.
Now available as an immersive virtual event, Tony Robbins’s Business Mastery is drawing even larger crowds and a new generation of business owners.

Many interviewers out-talk thier guests. I love how Tony gave Kevin a lot of space to share his stories, listen to them carefuly and was always ready with a followup question. True Legend. This is how any interview should be done. Period. Bravo Tony and thank you Kevin!

Years ago I would frequent a comedy club on Pico, next to Roscoes in LA after work. I was introduced to it by my 30-yr-old geek boss from Dallas, TX. A young man would MC and support all the other comics on Saturday and Monday nights. He wasn't a joker so much as a storyteller. One time after the show in the wee hours, he and his friend walked me out and waited until the valet guys brought my car. Another time, he greeted me and my cousin at the door, near the kitchen where a bunch of ladies made the soul food menu for the evening, trying to make them laugh and give him a plate. Only a few years later when I saw him on TV did I realize the guy was actually Kevin Hart.

Tony is 60 too, and I think he's probably in his mental prime, though probably a little past his physical prime. If you make good choices in life and exercise your brain & body you can age very well. Something I've noticed is, our decisions age us more than time itself does. I've seen a heavy smoker age 25 years within 5 years. Versus a healthy person have no noticeable difference in 5 years.

I love hearing his story. For me I always knew I wanted to be a performer. I did get a rush doing stand up, but I think the free flow of improv comedy is what really drew me in. Now I'm trying to focus on sketch comedy, my art, and comedic music. I always feel "lost" in that I don't fit in. I like what Kevin said about how he does all the different things. I made me feel less crazy, and maybe one day it will all make sense together.
