@HazeEmry They were talking about a viral video that went around where a turtle was humping a shoe (and making some wild sounds). Ralph's joke was the suggestion that the ninja turtles, being horny teenagers, have sex with shoes. Thus Splinter would always be barefoot.

goat fact: goats tend to browse ( not graze) for their food and are naturally curious, they seek out leaves plants and barks specifically based on what they need. the trope that they "eat" cans or other inedible things is just them trying to figure stuff out about the object. (I used to herd & milk goats)

I love that be it out of pride or laziness, the Drawfee crew always refuses to roll again, even if the randomly assigned task they get is so out of their ballpark or weird, and they always justify it by saying "It's too late", despite the fact they haven't even begun drawing.
And it always happens when Ralph is around!
I guess Jacob sprayed their faces with water like disobedient cats whenever they asked for a reroll.
Personally...id say its out of fun..its fun to challenge yourself and to figure out how it could work as you draw

Isekai is basically the Japanese version of a “fish out of water” story, but also involves fantasy worlds/alternate realities etc.
God I would love a set of drawfee themed pajamas tho. Like a lil repeating mug pattern or collage of iconic drawfee characters? Perfection

Half a second into the video, and I’m reminded how wonderful Drawfee is. Taking an episode like this and using it to remind people that a strike is happening and people should pay attention to it is great. I love that they consistently use their platform to spread awareness about these things.

Nathan being utterly delighted by all of Ralph's jokes was one of the highlights of the video for me.

I swear there is an episode where Shredder says cowabunga. There’s an episode where Shedder thinks he’s Michaelangelo after some tech snafu. He tries to hang out with the other turtles and brings them pizza and stuff. Surely, he has to say some catchphrase stuff in that episode.
Fun fact about Shredders voice: he was voiced by Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince.

JULIA as soon as the render hit your cyberpunk lizard, my third eye opened and i saw the parallel universe where Karina is a k-pop star for a split second. It was truly magnificent. Btw the dad joke in this episode was so S tier i had to steal it.

Recently started listening to the Terrible Lizards podcast (about dinosaurs, highly recommend). Ralph was on one of the episodes and it took me embarrassingly long to realize where I knew him from. (Which is Drawfee, I don't watch Food Network)

Drawing suggestion: draw each other into an isekai. Example- Nathan is king of dinosaurs in a prehistoric world; Karina uses a Digimon deck in a YuGiOh-esque dimension; Julia is a Drawtective in an isekai full of vampires; and Jacob is the leader of a bunch of little guys rebelling against hot villains.

It was such a lovely surprise to see (and hear) Ralph in the intro! He's quickly become one of my fave Drawfee guests. I was a TMNT fan in the 90s, and this episode made me feel happy during an otherwise rough time.

When they talked about isekai, I realized something. Sweden's most famous author, Astrid Lindgren, once wrote a book called Bröderna Lejonhjärta, The Brothers Lionheart. The book begins with one of the brothers dying, and the other follows him into death soon after. The brothers are transported to a fantasy world were they have to slay a dragon. Astrid Lindgren wrote an isekai back in 1973!
Through the Looking Glass (the basis for Alice in Wonderland) was written in 1871.
The idea behind isekai isn't anything new, it's just for some reason the genre exploded in anime over the last decade and has completely saturated the market.

In 2nd edition D&D there's a spell called "ruminant charm" which was a precursor to charm animal. Anyway, the domestic animals Ralph listed are all ruminant animals

ive read multiple isekai where the body is still alive in their original world, usually in a coma, and then when they find out about it they have that whole conflict of 'should i return to my normal life where all the people i care about are waiting for me, or should i forget the past and stay in this new fantasy world with all these new friends (and lover/s) that i also care about.'
ive also read isekais where the person physically travels to another world like through a cave or something, or is taken there by a fantasy person, or even just falls asleep and is transported there.
so basically yeah death isnt completely necessary for an isekai
Isekai as a genre also would encompass the old European stories where people get lost in the woods and end up finding themselves in the realm of the fae (or via other means). In lot of Nordic folktales this moving from this world into the other world can happen just by opening a door of your house and BOOM you're face to face with something that isn't supposed to be there. The doorway isn't magical, but rather in that moment the two worlds overlapped just long enough for this to happen. The overlapping was random, and in these types of stories the goal was to find way back before the doorway closed potentially for forever, however in some places it was believed that this overlapping was more likely to happen at night and you'd have until dawn before the door would disappear.
In case it isn't clear: Isekai just means "Other World" and by that definition any story that includes being transported into another world would classify as an isekai story, the mean of transportation isn't important, just that the person or thing gets transferred into the other world or from that other world into ours.
*sips hot chocolate* on hindsight, I read too much, alas the tales of the olden times call for me and I must keep reading.
