I´m still working on my portfolio. This is an awesome video. Thank you for claryfying these subjects. It is always good to listen to people that have more experience.
Thanks for answering my question thouroughly ! It took me a long time to realize you had done a video to answer it :'D Thank you, it was very interesting !
Honestly there’s not a huge difference. I’ve worked in both and I know a lot of people that have worked in both. It mostly comes down to designing for different purposes. With games you have to keep gameplay in mind obviously. With film you are usually having to focus more on realistic concepts and utilizing photos, unless you are working more on 3d animated projects. Hope that helps!
Thank you for the video, it's super helpful for me. You mentioned you went to Lexicon to network and have your portfolio reviewed. Do you know of other cons and/or events where established professionals such as yourself would have allotted time to review portfolios and network with aspiring concept artists?
Hey Sam! The convention I attended is called Illuxcon (like illustrator con). This year has obviously been pretty weird for cons, but typically we have Dragon Con, Lightbox, and Spectrum Live (I think that’s still a thing?). Also Pax is a good convention to check out if you are interested in networking with game developers. We also have a channel in the Discord where we post upcoming events as well, so if you hop in there you’ll be up to date with events happening :)
@@NikHagialas thank you, I'll subscribe shortly : ) Would it be possible to email you guys for more in depth questions. Sorry if I'm being too forward, I know you guys are spinning a lot of professional plates.
Do women do well in concept art? Honest question. I know there must be some that do, but I only see men doing videos about it and serving as rolemodels for the job, so that makes me wonder..
Hey! Yes, there are definitely tons of women in the industry. I think it's still mostly male dominated, but we've even interviewed some professional women artists in our Art Friends interviews that you can check out on the channel :)
This is so so helpful and clarifying. Thanks to this, I can better plan to improve my own art at home before getting into college.
Great! I’m glad it helped :)
