Hey Brendon -- THX so much for taking us with you inside that church. It's amazing and absolutely beautiful. Appreciate those little extras in your shopping trip videos. Wonder how many viewers know about Mother's Finest? I just found out about them within the last year or so. Such a great band that more fans of hard rock and metal should discover. THX again!
I discovered Mo-Fi back in 2006. I was going back to college to pursue a degree in broadcast journalism, which was very short lived, and I ended up quitting school. Their biggest hit "Baby Love," a funk/rock track, was on a 70's rock compilation which I had purchased online via B&N. They do hard rock stuff. I ended up using "Baby Love" for a broadcast class in a specialty project, a radio show of a certain subject. My focus was on an hour-long show of obscure rock artists who had a hit or two on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles chart, but kind of dissolved, NEVER to be heard from again. In addition to Mo-Fi, I also featured bands like The Equals (feat. a young Eddy Grant,) Fanny, New England, Diesel, Orion The Hunter, World Party and McAuley Schenker Group in the hour, along with PSA's. I got an A on the project, and I put a lot of research, time and thought into the program.
The Cathedral was simply amazing! I bought Rory Gallagher live in San Diego on RSD. Was wondering if you've ever listened to him. Was really impressed with his live concert!
Hey Brendon. Really enjoying this series you have going. Excellent stuff including the sight seeing beforehand, thanks for that! Also, that Them Crooked Vultures album is just awesome.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying the series, including the NYC sites along the way. And I agree, Them Crooked Vultures is great and wish they had made a follow-up album.
Hi Brendon!! thanks for the cathedral visit, last time i was there (looong time ago) i think it was closed....... With more than 11.000 cd's it's amazing still see you finding stuff you don't own like Huey Lewis and Eddie Money. I do remember Jive Bunny from my preteen years and listening to them on cassettes, fun stuff. cheers and be well
Very cool Brendon I really should go to a book off one of these days it looks like I could spend a whole day there I have that tears for fears greatest hits cd it's a must have
TOP VIDEO Brendon i have been to book off once because thats the only time i was in the USA dont think ill be back to far to $ but ill keep watching you go record shopping i enjoy it very much and i love your Channel ill keep watching take care stay safe keep collecting i just bought the Blue Oyster Cult Box set 17 cds its called THE COLUMBIA ALBUMS COLLECTION i have only listen to the first 2 CDs so lots of listening for me
Hey Brendon, another great LGTTRS video with excellent commentary. First, thank you for showing the inside of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Very nice. I know you don't typically go to thrift shops or yard sales, but if you're looking for Picture This by HL & TN on cd, you would think that it would be more common to find that cd in NYC than it would where I live, in smalltown, OH, USA. I did, however, find it on cd online used for $5.99, but from a record/cd place in Salt Lake City, UT called Graywhale Entertainment. That's a good price for a cd that hard to find, but is the place legit, and how much S&H is going to be, even if it is for real? Almost sounds too good to be true. Didn't realize these News cd's were out of print or so hard to find. Maybe UMG will do a deluxe edition cd of Picture This, given the FACT that its 40th anniversary is this year.
I wish more labels would go back in and do deluxe editions of their classic albums. Problem is, if the artist isn’t still popular today, the labels don’t think it will sell and then lots of great albums hitting major milestones get overlooked. Too bad.
Wow! That second album of The Firm is not an easy one to find on cd! Like you I'm a Cheap Trick fan, and "Lap of Luxury" has always been a fav of mine even if the production is very dated. I recently bought "The Front", that's an amazing find! Great visit. Cheers.
Brendon, thanks for doing these videos. You’re a great person for enduring the absolutely horrible music playing in that store!! I would have left after about 30 seconds.
Haha…yes I can’t stand it. When I’m not making videos I wear noise canceling headphones and listen to proper rock music that should be playing in a real record store! 😂
There's something about the look of those old original issue CDs. I used to be more into getting remasters, but recently I have found there is often a nicer overall sound to the old albums. I might start looking for older issues as a preference going forward.
Hi Brendon, funny to see the Animal Bag CD in BookOff, one of two new bands I've discovered and purchased including Johnny Law since watching your channel. Hopefully more to be discovered soon! Keep up the good work!
Yeah they surprisingly have some good Glam Metal and early 90’s rock finds. It’s strange because some things they price absurdly high and others that have no idea what they’ve got. But in that case when they have no idea, it’s good for us music fans! haha
When I was eleven I had that on cassette (when it came out, around 1990) Not listened to it again in many years but it was a guilty pleasure for me then too 😂
another good one, loved the st.patricks, cathedral very nice, book off looks great and a friend of mine was in the city last weekend so i was able to send him there because of your reviews,we live in calif so its not easy getting to NY. thanks so much and good luck and health always . im catholic so ST Patricks was a plus in this video👍🌻🇺🇦
Yes and currently brand new on Amazon for $13. It is a reissue by Music On CD, which I think has done a great job bringing back lots of rare hard to find albums.
I grew up with that "Tears Roll Down" compilation, and in my mind, it's like a perfect album : the running order sounds natural ; like you say, it is hit after hit ; and "Laid So Low" is such a great song ! I hope someday we'll have a new version of that "Greatest Hits" with songs like "Break it down", "Raoul" and the killers of the new album added to it.
Nice post, Brendon. Dig these records store trips with all the sights shown around your cool city. Already have Ozmosis but even at five bucks wouldn't buy as noticed is a cut-out; too neurotic about my collection to get cds where art is compromised. Thanks for everything, brother. 👍
Been looking for the remastered Gene Simmons solo for awhile now. Expensive on EBay and too see it there for 5 bucks. Man would of had you pick it ip for me. But seriously daily viewer here, really enjoy my daily cup of coffee with you. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome Dave! Glad to hear the Gene Simmons CD was of interest to you. I almost cut it thinking no one would care about it and have much preferred to see a Kiss album instead. But more surprisingly, I didn’t realize the album was out of print.
Hi, I am going to the record store today also. I am going to give them 5 things I haven't been listening to and see if the really good condition Mike and the Mechanics 1986 record is still there. 'All I Need is a Miracle ' has always been a favorite song of mine. I will check and see if they have that Eddy Money album. I like the 2 songs you mentioned. Glad you picked up the Tears for Fears compilation CD. I have this CD and really love it for all the 80s songs.
Another great presentation Brendan love these stores we don't have Dollar section? My best finds are sometimes in charity shops sometimes in mint condition example yesterday I got a Cd/DvD of Electronic hits ,it's a super group made up of Johnny Marr (smith's) Bernard Summer (new order) & Neil Tennant (pet shop boys ) 50cent & Oasis acoustic sessions (50cent) & more all mint con see you passed on a Cure remix in the shop if you ever get a chance listen to the Forrest from it 🇮🇪paul Dublin ☘️
Love your Record Store videos. Unfortunately, people put CDs back in the wrong place. I have the Cheap Trick album as I have The Complete Epic Albums set. I also have the Sex America Cheap Trick Box Set too. I need to get the three separate volumes of their Epic Archives and the Authorized Best off.
Epic Archives CDs are excellent! Easiest way to pick up many of CT's soundtrack tracks. "Up The Creek" with the a capella opening is one of my favorites.
No that one was not the famous Seagram Building by architect Mies Van Der Rohe. But it does have a similar look. Lots of buildings in NY have been based on the Seagram Building over the years making it feel like it pops up everywhere.
Hi Brendon. You should have picked up The Fine Young Cannibals (The Raw & The Cooked) because that's the group who are from my home town in Kingston upon Hull UK, I actually spotted Roland Gift (they Singer) on his bike, riding around where he grew up here years ago My mum has this cd, I recommend it to you 😊
Thank you so much for showing all those beautiful pictures of the cathedral. That was a thing of absolute beauty. I had a question for you question. So when you walk into a record store and you have your camera with you, have you ever been questioned by any of the employees or do you have to ask permission to come in and use your camera within the store?
Hey Brendon love these record store visits. Question with work and the channel how many hours of sleep do you get each night? My guess 5-6. lol Cheers from the Captain!
You’re actually spot on. I only sleep about 5-6 hours a night. Never needed very much. Guess it’s finally paying off giving me a few more hours to do things.
Hello, Brendon. Great video, as always. Question: I will be visiting New York City for the first time ever this coming November. What book stores do you recommend around Manhattan or beyond? Cheers. Keep up the great content.
Mother's Finest is a group I've been checking out lately. I have the "Black Radio..." CD, which is amazingly good, and also have "Iron Age" (RC reissue). I wish Moses' other group, Illusion, could get proper reissues of their two Geffen albums on CD.
Ahh, Blind Melon memories. Seen them live once in 1993 when they opened the co-headlined Neil Young & Pearl Jam show in Vancouver Canada. Later that year they returned to Vancouver opening for Lenny Kravitz, the infamous show where Shannon Hoon was arrested after he stripped naked & peed on stage. Later at 1:15 am Actor River Phoenix died in L.A. Crazy night.
You should try and get the 2012 Judas Priest The Complete Albums Collection (Legacy Recordings) CD boxset if you can, Philip. It has all the studio albums with Halford from the debut up to Nostradamus and three live albums (Unleashed in the East, Priest Live and A Touch of Evil Live). Nice packaging and presentation too- they are vinyl mini replicas but good quality. If you acquire that all you would be missing then is the two 1990s studio albums with Tim Ripper Owens and the post 2012 studio albums- Redeemer of Souls; Firepower.
So I inherited all my wife’s CDs since she passed away earlier in the year and she had all the jive bunny CDs. That is great stuff. Also of note, is that I am legally blind and so going into a record store sometimes can be a real problem for me trying to find things I kind of like the way some of these stores have their CDs set up. Although, sometimes they’re in not the right order or the right genre groups. Imagine you finding Céline Dion sitting next to Ronnie James Dio.
Brendon, I like “Fore!” but my favorite album is and always was “Small World” I liked the walk to Book off. Unfortunately, Huey Lewis can no longer sing. He can’t hear bass. Or something like that. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Tell me about it! I’d enjoy myself so much more if it were like the old days and music I was into was still playing. Even when I go in record stores that don’t serve up the modern pop music, they still don’t play classic 70’s 80’s and 90’s rock.
I find it so interesting you filming as you enter the store. Here in my country i have to ask permission first. Also, we can remove masks. I see there you are still obliged to wear it. Wonderful cathedral by the way.
I think because it’s NYC on both accounts. Tourists film everything and people are always taking pics. Most people don’t think twice about it here. As for the masks and again with all the out of state visitors, I think most companies are just playing it safe. I know I am.
Re scratched discs Amazed that a store like book off would have scratched discs on the sale shelves, ie they don't have a good quality disc buff, Polish machine on hand like a venmill 3500 or similar. Unless they do and they do scratch removal at purchase. My local mom and pop video rental store had venmill machines 15 years ago or so. Those venmills could repair any CD I tried to like new condition, without resurfacing like a grinder like other machines might do. As long as there are no cracks in the disc, the top label surface is not scratched, and scratches on the way surface are not too deep, the venmills can make even cloudy scuffed scratched up discs look new so no one can tell it was ever scratched
The CDs are so cheap it’s not worth it I’m sure. Plus the CDs are guaranteed to play. Most people don’t care about scratches because of how they handle them anyway. It’s really only us music buffs and collectors that care about perfect CDs, booklets, inlay cards, and the cases. If it was a straight up music store without all the books, games, toys, etc. then maybe. But CDs aren’t their main focus.
@@BrendonSnyder Agreed, but a heads up to other Cd collectors to not pass up a great deal on a Cd you really want if it's just scratched, especially if a disc has more than thrift value on ebay, discogs. Local mom and pops or chains like Disc Replay around SE Mi have had venmill machines on hand in the recent past They will often fix your disc onsey twosey pro Bono or a dollar a disc in my experience

That is probably the best Tears for Fears cd compilation like you say. I also really liked the bonus track you mentioned!!
The Cathedral was simply amazing! I bought Rory Gallagher live in San Diego on RSD. Was wondering if you've ever listened to him. Was really impressed with his live concert!
Amazing architecture in the cathedral, wow! I really love the Firm, especially All The Kings Horses 👍 Another great record store visit, Thanks again!
Cool Brendon . The Cure - Mixed up . Amazing mixes .
quiet riot, first 2 records
from the '70s very rare
and 💰😊✌️
True…but they’re finally getting a CD release this year accounting to the band.
Wow. That cathedral is amazing.

Hey Brendon, Great video. I wish there was a Book Off in Chicago.
I wish you had one too.
I love book off, got one here. Great place for collectables.
It sure is and on so many fronts too. I love it for the CDs but it’s got books, toys, games, and more.

That Animal Bag album is great. I have that and the Offering EP
I’ve got both as well. They were a very underrated band.
@@BrendonSnyder yeah I don't remember anyone else that I knew liking them or even knowing about them.
Brother Cane kicks ass. I've got their self titled debut on cassette and CD. It's a shame that they weren't bigger than they should have been.
