Hiroshima is a place that every human being must visit at least once. It can be a deeply impactful and shocking experience, but beyond that invaluable learning, it also offers a plethora of magnificent tourist attractions and local cuisine. Speaking of Miyajima, I would highly recommend staying until evening when the sun sets. The giant torii gate and Itsukushima Shrine are illuminated, creating a truly enchanting and magical view.⛩
I will be in Hiroshima at the end of May! This video couldn't have come at a better time. I'm so excited for my first trip to Japan. It will be 34 days long!
I was in Hiroshima and Miyajima four years ago. Out of the cities I visited in Japan, Hiroshima is the one that felt the most genuine, and it really had a good and positive vibe. I visited the Peace Memorial with a friend, and after exiting we both felt the need to seat in silence for a while to gather our thoughts. It was an immense punch to the soul, but I would make the visit a requirement for all world leaders as it is a real eye opener to the reality of cruelty and devastation that is war.
Wonderful recommendations and very informative! I really enjoyed my brief time in Hiroshima while in Japan in March. Their style of okonomiyaki is delicious.
I was in Hiroshima a few weeks ago but unfortunately, it rained the entire 2 days I was there. A tip for travellers to Itsukushima - time your visit there for low tide and you'll get the unique experience of walking all the way up to the torii gate! Wear appropriate footwear though as they're blind to get sandy.
Shukkeien garden is so wonderful! I really recommend on visiting it ❤ Make sure to explore all of it, as there are many parts and some are a little bit hidden, I have spent there few hours as it was just so good! 😍 So for me it is the #1 attraction in Hiroshima and one of my most favorite places in Japan.
One day I need to visit. I lived in Japan for 25 years and visit Japan a few times a year. From Tokyo to Osaka to Fukuoka I always never have time for Nagoya or Hiroshima
I live in Hiroshima. We recommend watching Kagura, a traditional performing art, when sightseeing in Hiroshima at night. I think the attractive stage will be a valuable experience❗
I'm planning to visit Japan for the first time this year so this was a great video as it gave a quick summary of things to see. When I watched another walking tour of Hiroshima Castle, it didn't seem like there was much to see inside (several rooms which show household items from that era). I gather that people mainly go to the top floor to see the view of the moat....didn't seem to take long to see this either. While it's a beautiful castle, I got the impression that it's great to see the outside architecture, but not much to see inside. Your thoughts? Also, for Shukkein Garden, how long would you suggest it takes to walk through this....just an approximate estimate. Thought it would take an hour or so, but I'd be better off spending time in the Peace Memorial Museum and other nearby sights. Appreciate your help. Thanks, Ron
Hi, 1 week ago i was in Miyajima buying at the chopsticks only store. I saw a guy stealing expensive chopsticks in his backpack, while his friend distracted the cashier. The thief saw me seeing him stealing. The cashier was involved in a conversation where she barely understood English and he spoke it bad as well. He kept her busy with some objection of the bill ( on purpose of course) . I stood in line for 10 mins and she was still dealing with him and the other kept stealing. Then I went outside looking for a policeman but I made it all the way to the ferry terminal without finding one! I still feel bad for the store and girl, and for tourism, cause at some point its going to hit japanese retailers to find out that not all tourists are decent. There is bad people too. Wish you can share this with relevant areas and warn retailers.
Miyajima is indeed an island, and there are a few ways you can reach it from Hiroshima Station. You can find all the detailed information and fares here: www.japan-guide.com/e/e3454.html Hope this helps!
It will be difficult to accomplish all 5 things within one day. If it helps we have a suggestion for a half day walking itinerary for Hiroshima: www.japan-guide.com/e/e3409_hiroshima_half.html And a full day itinerary for Miyajima: www.japan-guide.com/e/e3458_miyajima_full.html Hope this helps! Have a great trip!
I visited Hiroshima and Miyajima Island for the first time a month ago, but still another great top 5 things to do in x city video regardless. Hmm. Turns out I was able to do everything on this list except for visiting the garden.
It's an astounding contrast: The museum is harrowing and depressing and the peace park is gorgeous and hopeful.

It really seems the Miyajima gate is what I’ve been recommended most. One day !
Womderful vid - To go to the different places by train, do I need a different train card or ICOCA would work well? Appreciate ur guidance.
ICOCA works on pretty much all public transportation in and around Hiroshima.

宮島は寒い季節だったけど楽しかったですね😀今度は京都へ一緒に行きましょう!冥土の土産になるね(笑)

Are there mushroom free food options there? I want to go to Hiroshima, mainly Japan in general, but I am allergic to mushrooms
I am spending 2 nights in Hiroshima in mid November of 2023. I will have one full day here. Can all 5 things be accomplished in one day?

Hiroshima style okonomiyaki is superior to Osaka style.
