I worked (and lived) on Iona for several years. Managed a little tea room, worked in. a backpackers hostel and also in one of the hotels. It's a very special, magical place. Many kings and warriors were brought to the island to rest in St Oran's graveyard.(where you lit a candle). St Columba brought Christianity to the island and sent the word out to Britain. Before that it was sacred to the druids. Shame you were so wet and frozen, you did well to battle on. It's stunning on a summer's evening and the beaches are white sand. Thanks for posting this, enjoyed it so much.
I am absolutely amazed by your energy and contagious enthusiasm for the things you visit in such terrible weather. I take my hat off to you Dan and Mazzy. Love from France.
That video just made me feel cold . Well done for making it in such bad weather . Its a real pity the weather was so bad for your visit but at least it keeps the midgies away .
Just what I needed after a long day of customer service. You see mercury is in retrograde so its even rougher than normal lol. Thanks for the laughs. I love you guys.
Thanks for braving the weather guys, just love the old chapels, must try and get to some of the Scottish Isles some time, but it will definitely have to be warmer !!
Holy Cow! You couldn't have got me out in that weather for any money! You are sure dedicated I'll give you that, but I was aching for you out there in the cold, and wanted to give you both warm blankets and huge mugs of hot cocoa. I do wish the weather had been nicer for your trip, and the island folk friendlier. Still, the sights were interesting, the graves and religious structures rather amazing really. Thanks so much for doing this, there are McLean's and McDonald's in my family line, so this to me was rather wonderful. I do hope you don't catch nasty colds from this tho, so drink lots of hot tea and keep warm. I must say Dan, you really made me laugh at your antics, "John Smith" indeed! Oh it's not really, "the", John Smith that made the beer, just some labor leader. ha ha ha That was a blow indeed after all you had endured. Darn those common names! Safe journey's you two, may you soon find yourselves in warmer and sunnier climes.
Super video. Loved the grave of John Smith. I got promotion on the day he died. Will never forget that day! The leader that followed John Smith, Margaret someone -can’t remember her name was a caravanner.
Dan there's a Special Place somewhere where you and Mazzey will be and it definitely will be spectacular unfortunately wasn't this but it's coming up certain of it cause your a Professional!!!; ), Thanks for video!!!
John Smith the brewer was actually buried in the Holy Sepulchre church in London. If you want to see the actual brewer himself, you'll find him there Dan
Hi guys, just thought I would mention, you still have your hoods up inside the church and it's not raining.. Dan been watching you for a long time now years! and messaged you when you was doing your Digging the coast 365 asking you to sign your book for me you didn't reply, but I thought when you get back to walk will you be passing through Chester at all? would love to meet you both and buy you dinner.... Mazzy You rock....... Your ok as well Dano. Best wishes to you both XXX
THE John Smith would be spinning in his grave if he tasted the rubbish they put his name to today. Now his brother Sam still makes exceedingly excellent beer
There are so many John Smiths, every time you say that name I get the feeling you're saying the generic placeholder name John Doe. No way to know, which John Smith was meant.
@Steven Hickman Makes me wonder if that John Smith drank John Smith's, while thinking of philosopher John Smith and his relation to Pocahontas-lover John Smith as well as what John Smith the botanist (not to be confused with John Smith the biologist) may did for his garden surroundings, in which young John Smith the athlete may have trained once back then?

The Isle Of Iona is incredible and John Smith buried there. Damn so much history. I’ll definitely look forward to where you guys will be going next.
Great job in that weather, big thumbs up. John Smith the politician was a great man, best PM the country never had IMO, taken too soon.

You guys toughed it out so that I could enjoy a vid at home in comfort! It's greatly appreciated Dan and Mazzy!

Yeah ! that was one WET day ! I LOVE this kind of thing ! We don't have " OLD " history here in the states like you have in Great Britain.
For a small island has a lot of history. Despite the rain, was a great video. Thumbs up
Beautiful stone and ironwork Dan. The both of you are just a blast to watch. Thank you for sharing! God Bless you both

So is this typical late March weather? Why not later Spring? Is it to avoid the crowds?
Its because l have a bad leg and have 6-8 weeks to kill.

Probably the best PM we never had.

Lovely video folks, very nice and interesting place.stay dry, warm and safe.👍👏
You are too funny xD Great video
Thank you so much for suffering for us to see it. I will never be able to go there.😘
they certainly do have cloisters at Norwich cathedral
You have not mentioned the native people as to their friendliness. How are the parking spaces for the van?
Iona people were very friendly. You cant take vehicles on the island unless you live there.
Glad your leg seems to be doing better. But give it plenty of time to heal before you stress it again. :)
All prayers are free..
Time to pack up for the Mainland, Don't get caught in the storm! Stay safe!
Hi Dan & mazzy 👋 nice livestream shame about the weather though 👍✌

Shame he passed away when he did, think he would have made a good prime minister, instead of this shit we've had for the last 30 years
agreed.
