    Loved the video😍 managed to understand the abralon pads better👍🏻 just wanna ask, what brand of wrist guard is Daphne using? Any good recommendations for wrist guards from Daphne or Cherie?

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      I'm using a Rev-X. There are different purposes for different wrist guards, I tried them out before deciding on one that suits me best.

    Good video - I have just started working on this myself.
    I was assuming that when the ball is lazy, I needed to increase the grit to make it stronger. Now I see it's the opposite. It seems like if the hook is more snappy, there is not as much energy for the ball to go through the pins.

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      if its snappy, it may have too much energy. if it hooks way too early, then it will be similar to having the ball being lazy. take videos of the ball reaction and see at what distance it starts hook and when it finishes the hook.

    Valuable information 😊 in Dubai open last year, Singapore team coaches were surfacing the balls for the players using 500 on the track and then 1000 for the whole ball. How that can help and when can be used? The balls were almost the purple Urethane

    Thanks Daphne. I agree that the Abralon pads wear down a bit after each use. My 1000 abralon is more like a 4000 now. 😊
    1000 on urethane
    2000 on solid
    3000 on pearl

      It's very good that you have a variety of surfaces on the balls. Good setup!

      you will be able to experiment more with surfaces if you access to a ball spinner! have fun anyways!

    Appricate for the great knowledge share ! So normally how many time use for a pad until you throw it away?

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      it depends on how often you use them and how much pressure you use, usually the lower grit like 180-500 wears off faster. For the higher grits like 1000-2000, it's better to keep a combination of new and old ones. As long as you feel that the pad is super smooth and/or it doesn't make any difference to the ball, it's time to change them up 😃

    When you used those pads do you need to spray with water on the bowling ball? THANKS

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      if using by hand only while on the lanes, we usually don't use water with it. only when using the ball spinner to adjust the surface then we might use water with the pads

      @@th3bowlingtrio your ball ... sorry my english il so bad 😅
      In tournament, I always arrive to the moment who I don't know if I have to change my game line (move feet+eyes) or when it s time to change to a weaker ball
      I hope you will undersand what I mean 😃

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      hmm, i think i understand what you mean. i dont think its as simple as step 1, 2 and 3. Because its a combination of factors, looking at the big picture and decide what works best for your game.
      playing on different part of the lane and how little or much angle you are comfortable playing with will matter as well. also, what are your tendencies? is it to speed up, slow down, miss left or right? some times choosing where to play have to 'make sense' to what you can do.
      we will try to think of how we can encapsulate this in a video. thank you for your suggestion :)

    I'm a big fan of your videos, you guys have great knowledge! I have to confess that I don't like surfacing my balls because I like them looking new! I'd rather just carry 6 different balls, each with it's own purpose.

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      Having 6 different balls with their individual purposes is a good start. Imagine if you practiced using 6 different surfaces with 1 ball, you will essentially get 36 different ball reaction. Expanding your arsenal without buying new ones :)
      Surface adjustments also include polishing, a 500 grit with polish will react differently from a 2000 polish. Have you tried it?

    would be nice to also touch on both abralon and tru cut and which is preferable

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      Trucut does last longer than abralon pads. It depends on the situation, if I'm using the ball spinner to surface the balls, I prefer Trucut. If surfacing by hand, especially the lower grits I prefer abralon pads.

    Can we use this for the tournament? I was told by my friend this is not allowed. Just to ensure I meet the rules of the tournament.

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      yes, you can use it for tournaments. usually surfacing of the balls is allowed during practice. once the game start, they won't allow it. some competitions allow resurfacing of ball in between games. be sure to read the rules of every tournament to be safe!

    is it just me or im afraid to use cause i scared the ball become too tiny if sand too much 😭😭

    • @th3bowlingtrio

      hahahaha it only happened once to me, that was before abralon pads were invented. Back then, I was using the scotch pads by 3M for scrubbing dishes to surface the only ball i owned. Even the serial number came off! Now with the current technology of abralon pads, I believe it will be highly unlikely it will be tiny. Please only use abralon pads, trucut pads or any other bowling surfacing pads for bowling balls

      @@th3bowlingtrio it just blows my mind how much the game has changed. From the 1970's I was bowling on wood lanes with Laquer surface, then early synthetic lanes wich plastic ball was usually preferred to the early urethane ball "Angle" to current reactive balls , symmetrical & unsymmetrical. Then add various surface finishes. I've been away from the game for sometime. Very enlighten tutorial. Thank you.

      Yes bowling has evolved so much from when we all first started. The technology of bowling balls, oils and machine is constantly improving.
