As a Colt fan. Overall, the Indy fan base is used to great QB playing. AR is not a ready, don't know if he'd ever be. But you can tell that he cannot do the little things. As Qb, you star from the basics and move forward. He tries the spectacular plays and work on the basics

AR has always been physically gifted. He was always a man among boys athletically. He has always been able to rely on that athleticism to get by. He’s in the NFL now, the highest level of competition. He’s still special physically. However, over the years, he’s never really developed the tool set to become a great QB. I think that lack of tools and fundamentals are really starting to hurt him in terms of development. The FO should’ve suspected this. I think they chose to ignore it and now we have quite the mess on offense.

I think people are right to be pretty angry right now. AR lacks maturity. He doesn’t understand the moment he has or the chance. It’s too bad, but that’s the truth. I’d be looking for a new a qb. They’ve got Flacco and the 3rd stringer from TX. I’d ride with them for now. Sit AR and let him get his rest. He’s not progressing, and he makes the same mistakes over and over. Even if they continue to play him, sooner or later he’s going to get hurt because he doesn’t have good game sense. He’s not game smart. I agree he’s not the answer.

  • @barndude5562
    @barndude5562 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

Total agreement here. Richardson lacks NFL level football IQ. It was all over this game. From not getting out of bounds, to huge sack losses, to his refusing to slide, to not knowing how/when to set up and spike the ball, clock management, inability to complete short to intermediate passes... He may be the nicest guy on the team... But we're paying him first round draft pick money - and he is pulling himself out of a game. Look across the field. CJ Stroud came into the NFL at the same time as AR. Is Stroud's game perfect? Far from it. But he just put up 2 W's against us.

This is trial by fire and development by fire. Franchise decision was based on physical talent and hopes in DEVELOPMENT which you/we all know. This is NOT a Peyton Manning situation. AR wont be close to franchise QB until he has at least as much snaps in live games as a 3yr starting QB in the SEC. THE COLTS KNEW THIS WHEN THEY SELECTED HIM. WE ALL THINK HE SHOULD PLAY AT A HIGHER LEVEL. IT AINT HAPPENING. GET OVER IT.

RAW is my word. AR is too raw and and needs a lot of reps,…and I do mean ALOT. Tanking a season or 2 just to give a young RAW talent reps, is not how you go about developing a winning franchise. Especially if he is injury prone. Joe Flacco gives us the best chance to try and fight for a wild card spot. Buffalo, jets, and broncos are huge games coming up that are big for us later on when vying for that wild card spot. Sit AR and let him learn Flacco. I’m pretty sure Irsay wants the “chance” to make the playoffs vs having a for sure losing season and also losing ticket holders.

I am looking at his first 30 or so pro games essentially as his college seasons: purely developmental. After he has had the equivalent of 2 full pro seasons, then his real pro season begins. I don’t understand why he was draft eligible so early, but I’m still hopeful that he can still develop into a franchise quarterback.

I am with you 100% on AR not being the answer. The only thing is that if you keep playing him, you cement losing into the Colts culture. That isn't good for enticing free agents to come here. Not that I expect Ballard to sign any, but I think he will no longer be our problem at the end of this season. I think he is gone, and I'm rooting for Steichen to be gone as well. We really don't need or want Reich 2.0 but that is what we ended up with. And of course with that will come the end of Bradley. Let Flacco play and have some fun before the Great Reset. What do the Colts do for next year in terms of overall leadership? They need a cultural shakeup. Do you bring in someone like Cowher to be the coach and GM? But i've never seen someone checkout of the game because of tiredness, since high school football because we played both side of the ball in high school. That kinda put me up against the field with AR and i been one of his big supporters. The coach is always saying he wants AR to get game reps, this is the only solution i see right now. Play calling is what it is. Players have to execute, and Richardson didn't.
Even the passes that where dropped in the beginning of the game, where on Richardson. He was lobbing those balls, allowing the defenders to get there and break them up. 3 defenders had more pass breakups this game, than they had all season combined.
He doesn't know how to play the position.
He's just not good. He wasnt ready for the NFL when he was drafted. He should have stayed in college another year.

This was my fear when we drafted him. We sat by and let the draft in 2023 be dictated to us instead of creating a draft. We had two options in that year. One go after the best QB from the draft or set up our defense for a few years as it was rated one of the best defensive draft in a long time especially CB. We waited and what’s worse is that we also allowed our division rival pick a head of us which it could bite us in the butt for years to come. A miss this big sets the franchise back at least five years and right now it feels like we will have to start over after the 2025 season as I’m sure they will make the excuse that this is truly his rookie year which gives him the 2025 season to figure things out before moving on from him.

Shane thinks Richardson can do the things that he wants him to do, but Richardson simply just cannot do it. he’s no Jalen hurts. If he was telling the truth about being "tired" when he came out of the game for that snap, then he needs to be benched. That is unacceptable. If he wasnt being serious when he said it, then hes not a smart person.
He doesn't know how to play the game. Hes relied on his physical gifts his entire life, and never bothered to learn how to play. Its obvious.
Joe Flacco said as much. He told McAfee that AR doesnt even know what questions to ask.
The only way Steichan can save this sinking ship, is to create a game plan, that allows him to figure out how to play, without giving him a lot of decisions to make on his own. I think youre correct about running him more, and limiting his throwing to checkdowns, screens, and the occasional deep ball.

Omg, he's not perfect yet get rid of him! Blah blah. You don't like the comparison to manning because manning was supposed to be great right away and Richardson was supposed to be a raw porosity who would take longer to develop. @carllennen3520 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

No, BOTH leaf and Peyton where considered generational.
Leaf was considered the better physical specimen, and the argument was, that his physical gift would carry him further than Manning.
The "kicking their arse" nonsense was just marketing. It was known that Manning was more intelligent, and had a better work ethic. That's why Polian picked Manning. He didn't want to deal with the headache of leafs personality.
Leafs critics where very quickly proven correct.
Manning was considered "in over his head", and "not ready for the NFL" his rookie year, but quieted everyone by mid season his sophomore year.
You are flat out wrong. BOTH where touted as "generational", and it wasn't Mannings lineage that elevated him, it was his play.

I didn’t say he had success because of his lineage, it because he quite literally went to the perfect situation, the receiver he would team up with and become the greatest Qb/Wr duo was there, for his rookie season he had a HOF Rb in the backfield Marshall Faulk, then the next year they drafted another HOF RB in Edgerrin James, for 8 years he played with a HOF Rb, while in Indy, 4 years he played with 1 HOF Wr then from 2001-2011 he played with 2 HOF wrs that’s why he was successful
