    Very good representation of the trail. I’m headed there tomorrow so your video helped a lot!

      @@Dafoter Awesome, have a great ride at the scenic Split Rock Wilds! This video was focused mainly on the downhill trails, but the majority of the trails there are technical XC. It’s one of my favorite trail systems in the Midwest!

      Thank you! Split Rock Wilds is an incredible mountain biking experience, can't recommend it enough if you enjoy technical rocky riding.

    Nice man! Love to see that CHONK. Really like your 3rd shots and looking forward to Pt. 2!

      Thanks man, hard to take a bad 3rd person shot in the scenic landscape at Split Rock Wilds! Technical rocky trails are my absolute favorite to ride so this place is already among my favorites in Minnesota! I learned to ride when I lived in Duluth so I've had to embrace the CHONK since day one haha. Rode here again recently so I should have several more videos of this amazing trail system soon!

    Excellent video my man; Very informative too. Looks like you got the Dialed in line and then proceeded to make this place your playground by finding all sorts of moves. Well done!

      Split Rock Wilds is incredible, wish I rode here earlier. There are Dialed in lines everywhere on this rugged playground, some of the high consequence double black lines should be ridden in a group ride setting. Looking forward to riding here with you eventually, hope your recent escapade here was as fun as mine!

      @@AndrewGehn No doubt.. It feels very secluded out there while riding solo, wouldn’t want to get broken off with no help available. We had a good ride, gave Fade to blue another chance and we both warmed up to the trail. Well worth it was as always “well worth it” stoked to get back here with you in the future.

    DUDE! Such a good showcase of these trails. Crushed it man! love all the rocks and tech. Can't wait to ride with you again!

      Thanks man, you’d love it here, like a slice of Curt Gowdy was dropped in the Midwest! Terrain is absolutely incredible and the builders had fun squeezing out every possible line in all the natural bedrock. Some really gnarly features that are the real deal here that would be best to ride in a group. Can’t wait to ride with you again whether that’s up north on the Range or Shore or back in southern MN in Red Wing, Rochester, or metro area!

    Wow. That looked hard. You ride that alone? They'd never find your body. Beautiful.

      That’s a grim statement Mr. Grimley 😅 I was riding out here alone that day, but another rider I met joined me for a few laps on some of the trails. I was extra careful and only rode what I knew I could ride 100%, there are some extremely difficult features at Split Rock Wilds and while I’m fairly certain I could complete them, I’ll only ride them in a group with friends. It’s an amazing trail system up at Spit Rock Wilds!

      @@AndrewGehn ya it was sorry. My brain sometimes gets a little morbid. And my mouth doesn't have the self control it should. Oh and my fingers often are not my friends. But my ears are ok. Just sort of along for the ride.

      Thank you, as a Duluth local I feel you will be well prepared for the rocky technical riding here! The downhill trails remind me of Piedmont and pedaling around can feel like Upper Burner of Stovetop. I hope you get up there for a ride, highly recommend riding here!

    • @Randy_Johnson
      @Randy_Johnson ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AndrewGehnyes, I’m definitely going to get up there in the next few weeks. Piedmont really prepares you for pretty much anywhere you want to ride. Same with upper burner of stove top. I love that kind of riding. FYI: I finally had the opportunity to ride the double black diamond long skinny at Murphy Hanrehan last weekend. I rode it a few times. My practice on skinnies has really paid off.

    • @AndrewGehn
      @AndrewGehn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Randy_Johnson Piedmont really does prepare you to ride anywhere, I’ve heard BOB and DM are similar to some of the gnarlier trails out west in technical difficulty. That skinny at Murphy is a tough one, there’s so many gouge marks in it from chainrings and derailleurs smashing into it, nice work!

    • @Randy_Johnson
      @Randy_Johnson ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AndrewGehnThanks. I practice on a 34’ long, 5” wide, 12” high, home-built skinny, which is the same width as the Murphy qualifier, so it makes Murphy’s 11” wide skinny a bit easier, mentally at least. You really need to have your mental focus up to speed for the Murphy skinny, as well as a bail plan. The skinny is 108’ long, according to my walk-off. I actually did a couple of short trackstands on the curves to reset my balance. Yes, DM and BOB are the real deal!! I’m hoping to ride them tomorrow.

    I was wondering when we were gonna get some footage of you at SplitRock. I like it more and more with each visit. There are so many sniper lines up there, so I know it’s a veritable playground for a student of the chunky gnar such as yourself. Hopefully when you get it mapped out I can get a tour this season. I will say though, definitely a good place to have a riding buddy and a repair kit 😅 I really hope the trail building renaissance north of Duluth really explodes. We already got Jackpot and SplitRock, and I heard Dirt Candy is setting up their HQ and are going to be doing work up in Grand Marais as well (though I’m not sure to what extent or at what rate as it is only two people. Though they have done awesome work). Did you ever check out Ely btw?

    • @AndrewGehn
      @AndrewGehn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Sawtooth Mountains of the north shore have such a jackpot of terrain for mountain biking, I hope the renaissance continues! Like a little slice of the Pacific Northwest here in the Midwest. Dialed In was right, the raw, technical trails here are EXACTLY my favorite type of riding, can’t wait to ride here in a group and attempt some of the features that you’d be wise to have some buddies and repair kits around for 😅 Dirt Candy is up north, my buddy encountered some of those guys out at Tioga, I hope they continue their great work on this great terrain! Haven’t hit Hidden Valley in Ely yet but it’s close to me and on the ride list, Pincushion Mountain is also on the list and I know you’ve ridden and filmed there before too.
