Sober for 3 years, 9 days. This song was there with me during the best of times and the worst of times, and it fills my heart with so much joy reading these comments about how it also helped so many of you. If i could hug you all i would lol
As an alcoholic, who has been there, been through 2 wives, lost the love of people I loved, lost jobs, and damn near killed myself through accidents and on purpose, this really hits home. Although I have not had a drink in 18 years now I still know how easy it is to lose everything. It's always good to have a reminder of " The good old days.☠️😭" Just the thought scares me. Thanks for posting.
Good for you, Mark Little! Your words are wise and you have inner strength. May you inspire others who are still fighting. Best wishes for the New Year.
Thank you so much Tina Turtle💖. I wish you all the best as well and may 2021 be kind to you. My joy is never having to apologise for something I said or did that I had no memory of. Life is great!
Oh no! Yes I am a senior but I know that if I were to have one drink anything could happen. I cannot take that chance. I don't begrudge others who choose to drink, I believe every adult is usually able to make a decision of their own. For me it's to never have another drink. We have a singer in Canada who has a great hit song back in the day called" Go for a Soda" His name is Kim Mitchell. Hey,I know that you mean well.👌
You're worth it to live a life the way you want it. And it great and hard that you've got the time to find that life out right now. You're doing great!
i love the look on the actors face at the end, when he's finally human. that humiliated, broken feeling, but a free, vulnerable, open feeling of surrender. #fuckyeah #recovery

@@Dan-cx9nb I'm pulling for you, Dan. Just keep going. I lost a friend named Dan to suicide just after high school. Please, don't be another Dan that is missed from this world. One is too many and I guarantee you'd be missed

This reminds me of my goodbye letter I wrote to alcohol when I put myself in rehab. I’m Apache and titled my poem Trail of Beers detailing my life and struggle with booze and now I’m coming up on 8 yrs sober and haven’t looked back. So to those who are struggling, in recovery or even thinking about giving alcohol up I SUPPORT YOU!!!
I didn't realise how powerful this video was until my mum died 2 years ago. I started heavy drinking everyday but the memory of this video and the tune of this song niggled. I wised up last year. Not off drink but no longer a muppet. Thank you Ryoksopp ❤
This 4 minute 29 seconds video is better than all the combined public service announcements on alcoholism ever created. Wow.... this should be shown to all adolescents in schools.... a powerful message coupled with sublime music.
I’m a recovering alcoholic and this happened to come up on my suggested videos today. I love this- brutal, sad, and honest. I saw the puppet as myself when I was actively drinking. I felt emotionally connected throughout the entire clip. I do believe that this didn’t come across my feed by chance. Excellent video.
This really hurts to watch . Over going more then two weeks sober, and have just have so many painful memories after living through these past ten plus years . Grateful to be alive .
This video is and song together are making me consider quitting alcohol. Thanx for making this, It is a great and beautiful way to speak for people struggling with alcohol addiction. Peace
My partner stopped and has finally been able to deal with all their problems as a result, they are so much more comfortable in their own skin. Happier? Sometimes, at least they can feel things now, they are more resilient all the time though. I have a beer a week maybe, but it's different for everyone. Some people kill themselves with food, others with work. What's your sobriety look like, AA is a stepping stone, but some people even get addicted to that (of course there are much worse addictions). My Mother's sobriety includes zoloft, a friend's sobriety includes grass, another friend is more addicted than anyone and is straight-edge. We all need to care about each other a bit more. We all need healthier relationships with everything.

I don't understand how this one didn't win. I'm an alcoholic, and sadly my journey has peaked many a time when I've thought I was at rock bottom. However, my point is, that this hits home to any of us who know how it feels. The winning video didn't do that. Love Royksopp. Xx

Dam such a good song, and so sad, it moves you, makes you think even if you arent an alcoholic we all have some adiction that got us to the point of losing something important.
What did I just watch??🤯🤯 It's my 20s when I struggled with alcoholism. I sought treatment, had relapses, but now 17 yrs I'm off the booze!!! Listen to people around you.
Whenever I feel like my struggles in life are bringing me to go back to drinking I watch and listen to this. It reminds me times where I took consciousness of this problem and this song and video actually made me feel better. It is like it has captured the exact feeling of alcoholism, without a word, and somehow gives hope. It is like being understood somehow. As said in other comment, it is something very peculiar that this song seems to have that power of empathy, while it is not actually a "song".
I was an alcoholic for only 2 months. But I mean, drinking everyday, puking blood, not eating, beig depressed, maybe some people thinks alcoholics are stupid, but it is a big deal and it seriously destroys your relationships.

Do not let one of the worlds worst drug take over your life it did with me for 23 yrs then eventually i understood its not my friend after all,or it will be too late it will wreck your life in different ways
I know that moment of clarity. Its like you were watching a horrible movie that wasnt real and all of a sudden you realize that it isnt a movie. Its real and it is what your life has become without you even knowing it.
I burst into tears within the first half of the video. Thank you for creating this. I found this song shortly after my fiance left me this past summer. I haven't picked up a drink in close to 5 years but I relapsed into drugs. I know if I pick up a drink I am as good as dead. His look at the end is exactly where I find myself now. I've never had a song and a video hit me right in the gut the way this one did. I hate addiction.
Stumbled upon this, 9 year old post. That would have been 2011, maybe 7 years into my decline and I thank God for saving me from that, through the various routes of struggle, from the rooms, therapy, Allen Carr , r/stop drinking, SMART,unknown prayers and the constant love of my wife. I too prayer for those fallen, especially those still struggling. Merry CHRISTMAS and IWNDWYT.
This is an amazing reflection best identified by someone who is so madly addicted to alcohol and the insanity that follows or a recovering addict who is sobering up. It was wise to read the comments to know that he finally understood that he wants help in the end...and stops being a puppet...yes I have been there and done it! Alcohol not only destroys the person who consumes but everything that surrounds him, the losses are enormous. Social stigma gets justifiable after you quit and understand the magnitude of damages you have done. Not all are blessed to digest this magical liquid, who has the power to leave you all alone and depressed. Beautifully conceptualized, very lyrical without the lyrics...the music, the imagination, the message is so profound...thank you. Love from India.
I've shown this video to my friends and they don't really like it. Mainly because it reminds them of me at a time when I wasn't doing too well. I love this music video and the music.
By far one of the most profound emotionally impactful videos I have seen. As I can relate to both sides of the story being told here. This video has touched me in a way few ever have.

Aaron McInturff Did you wake up to find a bloodied "Get to rehab" note stapled to your head yet? lol
Beautiful. Really.
A great song, a great video...
Depressing as well, but it's beautiful.
fantastic video!
just got 6 months. never felt better. this video is a terrible reminder of what my life used to be like. stay strong fellow alcoholics
Alcohol is no joke... much like anything else that can dig it's hooks in.
This song is amazing and the video, representing the monster one becomes when they're a slave to substances.
Pure perfection.
What life is like after Sesame Street. I hope he gets some help.

Ive watched this several times and I still get sad at the end..
I've shown this video to my friends and they don't really like it. Mainly because it reminds them of me at a time when I wasn't doing too well. I love this music video and the music.
Gives me shivers down my spine every time.
By far one of the most profound emotionally impactful videos I have seen. As I can relate to both sides of the story being told here. This video has touched me in a way few ever have.
Beautiful... still don't understand why this wasn't the winner.
Bianca Glass for me..this is the winner :-)

Exactly achillis, the goal of this film was to try and convey emotion through setting and reactions of the actors (b/c you're right, the expression on the puppet does not actually change)
