The rainy season started quite late this year. Our wells hardly had any water left here in Rawai. That's why I'm happy about every drop that falls from the sky. I find the storms and the aftermath of typhoons fascinating - a natural spectacle. At night I brought my animals to safety in the pouring rain. During the day I raised shelters in the aviary and for the sulcata in my garden. It's been a wet adventure over the last few days. Days when the temperature drops below 25 degrees are particularly pleasant. The older I get, the less I like the sun

We visited Phuket 2005, the year after the tsunami. Stayed at the then Crown Plaza at Karon Beach, which apparently took the main hit and there wasn't a sign anywhere that anything catastrophic had happened. All fixed up and it was business as usual. I met you both at your shop Aug 2021 and enjoyed a wonderful coffee and bacon sandwich. Hope everything works out.

  • @CreepyTrendMan

Over crowded, heavy traffic, dangerous roads , high amount of road deaths and accidents, high number of absalute idoits on the roads , massively inflated land and property prices that has priced out normal local Thai people from renting even a small house, They tend to rent smallrooms with just a fan. Lots of ugly condo buildings with box room's for inflated prices , lots of big ugly hotels. The list goes on. ......
Beautiful beaches and some lovely mountains . Plus some lovely people except they are mostly struggling just to get by and keep the machine running for people to enjoy as so called paradise.
"It's not paradise if locals can't afford to live there"

I left for OZ on the 20th and was glad to leave for the first time I my 20 plus trips there.

Hi Richie, first I have been watching your videos for years. You have passed along a ton of good information, you have entertained me many times, you have honestly shared when problems have occurred without sugar coating it! As a past business owner who went through the ups and downs of things in the 80's and 90's, then losing my job of 15 years as an employee of a major organization during the pandemic. I have appreciated your sharing. I am older than you, 67 now, was living in Patong when the Sunomi hit!
I am coming back to retire in Patong soon. After 20 years of living in Las Vegas (the desert!) I love walking in the rain on a beach, don't care how hard it is raining 😂!!! My mother was English from Gloucester I spent plenty of time in rainy weather. That and the ocean calls to me!
I would share 3 things after having lived in Patong back in 2004
    1. Rent a place at least 2 full city blocks from the beach
    2. At least second to fourth floor so you don't have to worry about getting flooded out and still low enough to climb the stairs when the power goes out and no elevator!
    3. As a retired person I see absolutely NO reason to buy, build any property, vehicle or motor bike. I walk everywhere for exercise and the few times I need a vehicle hire a driver and car.
People seem to want to complicate things for themselves. The key to Thailand at my age is simplify things instead. Try to live like a Thai person not a westerner living in Thailand and you really will be much happier!
Anyway thank you Richie I will definitely be at your place of business in the future! I strongly believe in supporting small businesses instead of Starbucks or McDonald's, etc when staying in Phuket.
Hope to see you around November/December. My best to you and your family.
    Amada buddha bless 😁

Having to work to survive here, I couldn't imagine it. Not having to work and survive here, life is quite easy within reason. Now, after visiting Phuket, not a chance in hell I would choose to live there. Not sure how you do it. I'd need to go get a second pension just to make it there and my current is a substantial amount in Thailand. I think it's double, if not two and a half times as expensive as Pattaya.

G'day Ritchie, it might be my tin foil hat state of mind but there's been lots of cloud seeding in Thailand. I've noticed a lot of cloud seeding here in Australia, hence all the flooding.
There was an agreement by governments around the world after the Vietnam war, that cloud seeding wouldn't be done during conflicts because of the damage that was done to civilians. But that doesn't mean that governments can't do it in their own countries. Conspiracies are real man😮

@Eyeballpaul84 I had seen the changes in phuket and I didn't like them. So I decided to leave and have some friends who did the same. I used to live phuket but them days are gone for me.

There are more farangs than Thais in Phuket. I use to want to live in Phuket, but I decided to move to BKK. The Thai culture is slowly vanishing from Phuket.
