    So I tried this method last night as I was kicking myself for forgetting in the early 2000s my sister and I used grease to flatiron our hair, my step mother used grease to blow out my hair before she braided it and both times my hair was waist length and T H I C K af. I work on a small island, lots if humidity. So far let me tell you... my strands were so luscious and pin straight except for the bump on the ends. NO FRIZZ, no knots, no tangles... I literally stopped putting grease in my hair because the New Naturals were saying it was bad. But honestly Im glad to be Team Grease again because this is the happiest I have seen my hair as an adult. I wanna do a growth challenge to see how long it will get by June. Thanks so much for removing the fear from my mind 🙌🏽

      Yep, I'm with you on that one, I am currently trying to get that health. Thin long hair wasn't doing it for me.

      Yesss this is what keep saying. Nowadays ppl saying grease is bad for u or you’ll fry ur hair off. Noooo it’s a staple for us black women! I love that people are finally starting to go back to old school ways !

    Yes! I LOVE grease. Its great as a sealant and as a heat protectant. It's the reason my hair has started growing so long. I would suggest any natural or relaxed with type 4 hair to give it a try

    Alright I just straightened my hair with Dax Pressing Oil and I'm very happy with the results. My hair isn't some dry damanged looking mess like the last time I straightened my hair with just a heat protectant spray, so thank you for this video!!!

      I would get the same result that you mentioned (dry and damaged looking), if I didn't use hair grease to straighten my hair. I literally can not do my hair without it now, no matter the style.

      Thanks my lovely. I was avoiding it for so long, for two reasons.
      I didn't want to blow dry my hair then use the straighteners right after and secondly doing that method is so time-consuming lol.
      Washing my hair and letting it air dry in braids is so much easier, so I think I may straighten a bit more now.
      Thanks for watching. x

    You look ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL with straight hair! 👍🏾❤️ question... did you say the grease protects against the heat?

    • @MissLaurenLeigh11
      @MissLaurenLeigh11  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thank you my lovely.
      No, I didn't say the grease can be used as a heat protectant, I was saying that I wasn't going to use a heat protectant, as that's how my hair was straightening as a child.
      However, petroleum can be used as a heat protectant, because it has a high burning point of over 400°c + (meaning it wont burn before that point), whereas my straighteners highest temperature is 230°c .
      Hope I was rambling lol

    Since grease is basically petrolatum which is oil, therefore do you think flat ironing can "fry" the hair ? I came across this term somewhere where they said using an oil before flat ironing can damage hair . Please help me understand this because I really want to try this!

    • @cfoster6804
      @cfoster6804 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      If it fried the hair these pressing oils wouldn't have stood the test of time. What you need to watch out for are those "heat protectant" sprays and serums. They did more damage to my hair than any pressing oil ever did.

  • @carlashaw8747
    @carlashaw8747 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Your hair looks great!! I'm so scared to straighten my hair, worse with hair grease. 😱 Does it go back to your normal healthy curl pattern once you wash it let's say after 1 week? Do you get that sizzling sound when you're passing the flat iron? 😥

    • @MissLaurenLeigh11
      @MissLaurenLeigh11  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks!
      Yes, my hair reverts back to curly. I'm going to do a video on it.
      I only got the sizzling sound on parts of my hair that were still wet, but not the parts that had hair grease.

    • @MissLaurenLeigh11
      @MissLaurenLeigh11  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say the green Dax is a bit thicker than this one, so due to my hair type I personally wouldn't. All you can do is try 👍🏽

    • @MissLaurenLeigh11

      You most probably can. Although I haven't tried it myself, but the green one is a bit thicker than the white one, so may be a little heavy for straight hair.
