We stay at the residence club next door, but here I am back again reminiscing with the day after blues and enjoying your Maui videos.
Hard to say goodbye to Hawaii!
In 1983-84, this place was the coolest/hippest/best hotel on Maui! It looks like literally nothing has changed. Had dinner at the Swan Court and. back then, the wow factor above and beyond the open air table overlooking said swans' lagoon was a chocolate buffet dessert option! I remember what I wore (a white raw silk sport coat over a red rayon, Magnum P. I. styled Hawaiian shirt) and what I ate (Ono tuna steak). I'm glad my memories are from when the place was fresh and exciting. Kind of sad to think they didn't keep up with changing times. Thanks for the memory jog, though!
+Doug Pettey Yeah.. I can imagine when this place was new it was amazing. Now it's definitely more in the "classic" category. Amazing has moved to Wailea at the Andaz.
I love the Maui Hyatt, love the hotel, love the grounds, love the location as I favor staying in West Maui area. The beach comes and goes. In the late 90's, it had a huge broad beach, courtesy of a passing hurricane. Now, it seems to be almost washed away. Dated or not, I always recommend it to people. Just sad that Spats isn't there anymore
Hurricane iniki took away lots of sand in all the beaches in like 1992
I stayed in that hotel, it’s great! The luas are good, and the pools and beaches are breathtaking
Was just there last week. It’s been updated. Our rooms were great. Bathrooms are really nice. There is a section of beach right in front that does not have rocks. In the ocean in front of the kids pool. We swam it it everyday. Also my high school girls took free yoga classes, hula dancing & lei making. For little kids this hotel would be amazing. The kiddie pool, slides, waterfalls & suspension bridge are big bonus points. The penguins & birds are also very interesting to many young & old people. I thought all of the staff was friendly & accommodating.
Yes, Yellow did not explore the length of the beach. There are spots that have better access. If you go in the ocean on the Northern end, it's VERY rocky.
I did explore the length of the beach... but I was in fact referring to the beach "in front" of the Hyatt as rocky. Agreed that it gets better if you walk 5 mins from the Hyatt... but then that's not the beach in front :)
@@YellowProductions my point was/is, there are actual spots in front of the Hyatt that have decent access to the ocean. Parts where there are much less rocks. As you stated though, there are some parts that are terrible.

@@brettpedigo No, they were closed last September and had to cancel our trip. We are going to Kuai this September and back to Maui in March. Aloha.

I go there every summer with my family. The concierge lounge is incredible at the property. The water slide is also very fun.

Used to work there in the 80's, when I was young and reckless. Was jogging down the beach one day and saw my girlfriend serving drinks at the pool, so I went up to say hi and give her a hug, then went back to the beach. Got called in to work the next day, and they fired me for being on hotel grounds when I was off duty. Hahaha! I was ready to go back to the mainland anyhow, so no biggy. Anywho, enjoyed your review. Wow.. that's a crazy policy
I stayed here a couple of years ago. We were on the top floor full beach view. We also took advantage of the daily snacks available with a club membership. It worked out for the kids as they were there every few hours. The rooms are outdated but I didn't go to hang out in the rooms, I went for the water which is where I stayed. Other than that it was ok, maybe overpriced for what they offer room wise but still nice.
Any information on if the Hyatt Regency has guest laundry? Thank you for ALL your videos!! I particularly loved the London, Munich, Zurich, Paris videos and now you are helping me with Hawaii :) Keep up all the great work!

Ived watched all your videos on Maui since the family will be going soon, I really enjoyed the content and would have hope you would have made a road to hana video or a video in hana. Love the work man keep it up
We didn't make it to Hana.. we started on the road for about 30 minutes then got car sick and turned back :)

Lots of reefs, agreed with cons, everything is expensive. This am we had eggs and bacon with hash browns and they were $22. Ice's $7. Recommend a hotel closer to black rock if u want to surf, snorkel, scuba, etc.

I am going back in October for my third Maui trip. I was thinking of this hotel, but after your review, I'll stick with the Kaanapali Westin.
I think the Westin will be a good choice :)

@@justjudijjb3455 I did wind up staying there that trip and the next. I think this review is a tad critical. I actually was offered a six day/five night stay at the Residency next door at a very reasonable price and was supposed to stay there last September. Obviously, Covid had other ideas. Tried to rebook that offer, but due to being shuttered for seven months, demand is now crazy high. They extended that offer until December 31, 2022, so next year, we are going to stay there.
@@kofd04 We had the most amazing trip. I met the nicest people & we took a sunset dinner cruise on the Teralani- the crew was awesome & we saw whales.Also did a morning whale boat on the Gemini, that crew was not as relaxed, but the whales were amazing! Have a great time!!

The wildlife at the hotel was really cool. Although it doesn't sound like the hotel is as good as the other ones in the area, at least the views from the balcony are really nice provided you are on one of the higher levels.

Do you review any Honolulu hotels? I really enjoy your videos, myself and my partner are travelling to Honolulu in November and we are trying to work out if we should go to Maui or Kauai for a few days. Anyway i have been watching your videos and writing down so many of the places you recommend! Thanks! also.. I know people say a lot about your pronunciation but I think its great that you try! I am from New Zealand and people don't even bother making an effort pronouncing some of the names/places in New Zealand. Thanks!

How long are you planning to spend on the Islands? I think you can easily spend a week on Oahu by itself. While the Islands seem close together.. an Island Hop will take a better part of a day when you consider packing, returning your rental car, flying.. etc. So just take that in to account.
Thanks! We are going for 12 days total but i guess 11 full days as on the 12th day we fly out in the morning. We were thinking of spending 6 days on Waikiki and 5 days at either Maui or Kauai, still trying to decide, leaning more towards Maui. After watching your review of Hyatt Maui I think we will definately give that a go, I really enjoyed your review of Andaz but its almost double the price of Hyatt for the time we are going (November). I am still going through more of your videos (cheap eats etc) they are so helpful and detailed! REALLY helping me!
I guess you are right with travelling, that will take quite a bit of time out of our trip and we are not there for long
+Ashlee Mitchell That sounds like a pretty good plan. I think with 12 days you can afford the Island Hop.
I stayed there about 10 yrs ago & the room was nicer than this one. The place is quite expensive & the rooms need to be upgraded.
I stayed here back in the 80's. I've heard it's very dated these days.

I usually don't because it's so variable depending upon time of year. I've seen this Hyatt go from anywhere from $200 to $500 a night
Don’t care about robes or gift shop would prefer more about the beach, and pool
