Hi saw the smashing pumpkins last night in Indianapolis do a 3 1/2 hour set. Jimmy was so precise and so technical and so dynamic that it blew my mind. I’ve been playing drums for 30 years and I haven’t seen that much perfection before. There’s always little things that I catch a concert where the drummer screws up or miss is a cue or something like that but Jimmy was on top of it the entire 3 1/2 hours set. He did three solos last night. Small mid song solos and they were mesmerizing! Their stage show was amazing as well. Those drums and cymbals sounded amazing!

I heard Jimmy playing before I heard Billy playing... in Cherub Rock. In that time, nobody would start a rock song like that.

Saw them live this summer, came away with an even bigger respect for Jimmy. He has a way of making the drums stand out so beautifully even with the heavier guitar moments.

P.S. his flams are untouchable! And sound even faster now. If that's possible.

His flams sound as good and clean as Tony Williams’s. He has always had clean fast rolls

infloslinger Steve Smith, Dave Weckl and Vinnie Colaiuta have been on top of that for ages.

Cinnamon Life Cereal seeing Vinnie play live was an experience I'll never forget. I've always been a Sting fan, more of a Police fan. I just really love the way that Vinnie utilizes his Splash cymbals it's like he's painting on a canvas but just putting a little Dash of bright blue here and a little Dash of turquoise there. I've been gigging for 20 years so I'm trying to put it in words but it's hard to.

I allways perceived the drums as one of the best parts in the pumpkins music and now I understand. I love jazz. Good to have you Jimmy Chamberlain.

Started drumming at age 12, Bonham was my idol in the early years but once I heard and studied and played along to Jimmy, I realized he was the drummer I wanted to emulate most. His chops are incredible, he has power, strength, but mixes in delicate jazzy licks, it's just the perfect style to me. I can't even pull off some of his fills 100% of the time, truly admire his talent.

Saw the Pumpkins headline an early Lollapalooza back in the 90's with the original line-up supporting Siamese Dream. I was completely blown away. They were simply flawless in every facet and they were LOUD!
    Goodness... Where'd the time go?.?...😐

I was at the MSG show in the upper tier & I felt the drums pounding my chest & heart. Every kick drum & cymbal crash, the sound was amazing. Hummer, Tonight, Tonight was insane.

Jimmy Chamberlain is the reason I started playing drums. Also I'd be curious to know what Grohl would have to say about Jimmy's drumming. I feel like a lot of the great 90s bands know he is probably the best drummer of their era but don't admit to it for whatever reason

I mean we can't forget Carter Beauford of Dave Matthews and Danny Carrey of Tool, but I agree and he's also the drummer I take most inspiration from. It is a shame that not many people mention him often.
