I am really glad to see that you can use your “injured” hand without any problems 👍👍👍
All your videos are so inspiring - thank you for sharing them with us 🙏🙏
You rock, my friend.
What you have is the USA military Combat lifesaver’s bag. Your buddy did the design it. It appears to be an exact copy with the exception that your friend added the molle straps on the back and the orange liner in each pocket. The 600 denier cloth looks better than the nylon the military uses. It also appears to be more durable although my Lifesaver’s Bag has lasted me over 25 years. However, I use mine for its original purpose and typically keep it in my vehicle. I really like what you’ve done. I’d really like to see you start to carry more first aid on your trips, especially after your recent work injury. Bad things can happen anywhere.
Here’s what I carry because I, like you, carry a pistol/rifle everywhere I go: you should carry a tourniquet, some bleed stop, 2 packages, compressed wound packing material, 2 packages (you gotta fill the wound channel to slow /stop the bleeding) and 2 chest seals (so a lung doesn’t collapse). It’ll cost you between $50-$100 for all those supplies. But, your life is worth that.
CLS bags are painful to carry long distance.
Lol, I was about to say something very similar. I’m a US Army veteran. I actually have a combat life saver bag exactly like that. Of course mine is all olive drab.
@@kennethlouviere7254Same here
I carry a small first aid in a cargo pocket of my pants and I carry another larger first aid in my backpack n a larger in my vehicle...thank you for the comment...I wasn't understanding why you'd carry something long distances on your side but my questions about the haversack were not answered before and I had never heard of one. Happy Trails
Carrying emergency tinder & 3 lighters is also important...so you can fall down with a serious injury and make a fire right there with what you can crawl around and use to keep the fire going. The little bit of rope we carry can always be used as a tourniquet and I try to keep small tourniquets in the first aid kits. I still choose to carry everything on my back cuz I looked for antlers all day etc but first aid is always a hot topic 💗 it's good to keep your pistols on your person with lanyards so when grizzly bears etcetera knock you down you can recover your weapon. Peace
I use a M3 Bag (Unit 3 bag) as a "HaverSack". I still carry my FMSS issue bag from 1974 which is sporting a few patches now. Great way to organize for rapid access to your gear.
Nice updated version of that old med bag & I have been looking at that style now I have a newer version to check out thx 😎🇺🇸🤙🏼
So happy you are back at it and not letting anything limit you. been a fan since Corporals Corners pushed for supporting you.. Keep it up
Hi James awsome video. Love the beautiful open country. God bless
As an Army veteran, I appreciate his showing respect to the military with the “US” on the haversack.
Great to see you out again and feeling better! Glad to see you back! Stay safe out there and happy wondering 🤍
That is a nice haver sack. good kit too.
Great review James. I always enjoy watching. Great job.
Good review! Love the opening, that hat really belongs on you, and the music sets the mood perfectly! Keep working on the strength in your left hand; glad to see you making the effort to use it! 😘
First rule: never skip a junkyard fox video
second rule: enjoy the video❤
Good rules!
I just recently picked one up from The Prepared Wanderer. Very pleased with it so far. I have yet to build out that bit of kit. So, I appreciate you showing yours. Great content, as always!
One of the best packs that I used was this old US military pack from I want to say the Korean war it even had the guy's name on it still and it was dated 1945
Thanks for the reminder I gotta buy a fanny pack for an airplane ride next week.
👍👍 Good stuff, thanks James.
Outstanding review James! Always good to be organized about your safety and comfort. A first aid kit would be a must in there too! A whet stone for your knife. Quite impressive! And I do agree about that top cover needing to cover the exposed zipper there. The strap? I thought of sturdier ones I’ve seen at camera shops or even guitar straps. I’m wondering though, why is it you typically hang it up? I’m thinking the material might not wear very well on rough surfaces? I’m gonna have to look into this one because being compartmentalized as it is, I’m picturing a nice backwoods tackle box. Plastics in one, lures in another, hooks/weights in another, line/swivels. Nice! Thank you sir!
Great review. You covered everything.
Pretty cool looking pack. Cheers, James! 👍👍✌️
I think its a badass piece of kit, I can see that having a use for us hunters with some minor improvements. Hey keep pushing the use of that hand bro, it will take time but it will get better with use. Thx for the vid JF
So good seeing your dexterity come back so well! Thanks for another great video
I am new to your channel, I can't express enough thanks for thr content you share. I feel so much more confident about survival for family and myself. I Love the native knowledge you insert into your videos. Thank you for yiur hard work.
Awesome pack and loadout!
Great review Junkyard Fox!
I'm a huge fan of his regular haversack. One large compartment that I can fit bigger gear. PALS webbing on both sides so I can add a bottle pouch and an IFAK so I have lots of room on the inside. No zippers to break. Axe sleeve on the front. If I want compartments I just add pouches on the inside. This haversack is not for me, but I can see others liking it. I have like 5 pieces of Malcolm's gear. All are made well from great materials. You won't get a crappy piece of gear from the Hidden Woodsmen.
I have 3 of these for me, wife and son. I got the basic stuff in there but I added a small 22 revolver in all 3. But I love these packs especially since he has them on sale right now.
Great video man, one of the very few people I’ll watch.
Excellent video brother!
Looking good James, hope your pt is going well, cheers!
On the buckle if he does two maybe do it so you can add a wool blanket
It's your best video. Since you're mishap. God bless.
Hi James loved the review. Loved the intro music!
Awsome review 👏👌
Nice pack ! Thanks for the demo ! 👍👍👍 ...Alan in Texas 🇨🇱
Thank you ❤
Love the outdoors in the West. From Southeastern New Mexico.
Great overview! 😎👍🏻
Nice review James. Your hand mobility is getting better. Metal Gear Solid, great game for sure. Now go get your boots dirty.
The knapsack reminds me of my Dads WWII Army Air Corp knapsack and it did have 2 buckles holding down the top cover. About the same size.
Intro soundtrack be 👌👌👌
Hey junkyard dog, I really enjoy your videos keep it up man
I started carrying a haversack because of you and I absolutely don't regret getting the French trade haversack from hidden woodsman. I would, however like to ask you to peer pressure Malcom into bringing back the 35L pack lol
Heck yeah HW gear is always the best. The rollout is great to have pockets for everything 🇺🇲
Videos have a easy to follow mixed style
Great video . Thanks
great Stuff Bro..take care
Great review .
Very cool so useful
Me da gusto ver que tu mano está muy mejorada. Saludos y bendiciones 😊🙏❤🙌
Brother that hat looks great.
I just bought this haversack. It looks perfect for my everyday stuff.
Nice pack!
Good video
I carry a couple little tiny metal containers that are maybe an inch long that are like your match container
I can fit a bunch of aspirin in one and I put a few antacids in the other. The aspirin is for me and the antacid for my hunting buddy who always forgets his.
I also have a wind-up radio for those all night fishing trips down by the river keeps the racoons and deer away.
Thanks James... Just had to order another one of Malcolm us products😂
Yup,I use an old Medic's bag like that for my Go Bag. Brother, when a Navy Seal gives you something that cool, you pay attention. Get well,my friend...
Thanks for Sharing
I would still have a blanket and an emergency blankets.
Would you consider showing the one wind sometime? I bought one but haven't had time to use it yet.
Malcolm make great stuff I got the older stile ben carry my haversack for about 7 or 8 yrs been carrying Dave C. M34 flaskand cup in mine if need carry more water I carry a canteen 2.zI ben carrying one wind stuff 2 in my haversack 2!
Nice
Hidden woodsman is quality products Malcolm Coderre I am still a fan
Speak of the devil!!! Good to see you bro!
I do a lot of fishing at night so I have a small three battery headlamp on my head when I go out. I don't have a hand flashlight
Gas station convenience stores have fluid.
I got a whole bunch of those emergency food blocks that they send with kits that are pretty nasty too.
There are no military places nearby so it's hard to get MRE's so I have a couple energy bars and I usually have a plastic nalgene container full of ice that eventually becomes cold water as it melts
One time I was extremely dehydrated while deer hunting and ended up putting snow in a bottle and breathing on it to melt a little at a time
Is that an Opinel No8 in your hat band James?
Can possibly use Alice Keeper Clips on back panel to use fasten to a military web belt. LBE
I want to get one of those cool Primitive Bear Knives moral Patches. I checked out their web site…. They don’t sell them and the don’t have any contact info on their web site. Please ask your Buddy to sell the moral patches on his web site! Keep up the great work! Thanks!
Haversack is sweet i think ill make a cool SHTF first aid kit out of one you can fit tornequet compression guaze no problem
Yeah, said bag was used by the US Military, long before this bag was made. And yes, its a medic bag.
Where did you get the canteen cup with large handles.
Id like to see some MOLE on the front somehow so you could add a few mag pouches
Tent stakes?
What is the music track at the end?
Metal Gear: Solid Snake! 🎮
You will more then likely delete this comment. But as I've told you before. A company called Condor Tactical, sells the EXACT same bag, but it has one more pocket. Same dimensions, the Molle on the back is a tad different, because its meant to attach to other gear. And I've just found you can get it in Black, Olive/green, and tan. And lets just say you can get 3 of the Condor bags for the price of said M55, and still have money left over. Okay, I will stop ranting now. Oh, one last thing. I've had one of the Condor bags for 15 years and it has never failed me.
You need to keep you a spare left hand in there brother.
EDIT- I can say this being paralyzed from the waist down , so F*CK all you haters. 💪
I’ve got that older bandanna
For the lighter try mineral spirits I think it's the same thing if I'm not mistaken
Zippo fluid is naptha. Like what is used for dry cleaners..
Never heard of a haversack til this channel. I'm not sure why you would choose to carry something on your side rather than on your back- it seems uncomfortable? Or did this evolve out of the man purse? I hike & hunt long distances and I wouldn't want to be switching sides to even out the back pain of it, but maybe I'm not picking up on the joy of the haversack LOL
Haversacks were even used in the 1700's
Look up the history... And for light packing they are great and comfortable.
I've heard of them since I was a kid. I'm a bit of a history nut, and the soldiers, explorers and mountain men of the 1600s to 1800s, as well as soldiers and explorers today carry them, but yeah, I agree, a shoulder bag pulls on my neck and makes it ache from my shoulder up into the back of my skull. Much easier for me to carry a backpack.
Its just a sack you have, too put stuff in. And if you get a wider shoulder strap, it is very comfortable. I use one almost every day, due to all the stuff I have to carry with me. I a lot of respects, much easier to use. Specially if you ride a bus, easier to get on and off. As others have said the Haversack has been around for a very very LONG time.
I am also a history nut and live in the bush of Alaska and have always hunted & filmed wildlife alone in Wisconsin etc. Thankfully someone else answered my question correctly elsewhere. Enjoy your side aches LOL
@@JJPaulson777 I am a bike rider and a walker. I carry a EDC bag every time I go out. I've never had any side pain, or shoulder pain. But I use a nicely padded shoulder strap.
Hey buddy, I use camp fuel in my Zippo all the time. A can last forever.
What's up with that calorie mate?
Do you eat that for medical reasons?
It’s just a super sized sugar bar with lots of worthless calories. It’ll keep you going in an extreme emergency. It’s worthless for survival more than 1-3 days.
There are better survival bars that are used by the US Military that can sustain a soldier for 24 hours per bar. But, you’re going to probably pay more, but I don’t really know. At least the military survival bars are not made in China.
🤙🏼🔥
Perfect but need water.
He has a water bottle on a separate sling.
I always want to like these bags but they kill my back if I ever have to go a meaningful distance.
Then your using the wrong strap. Try using a wider strap.
Old news. This bag came out like 3 months ago
you need more fire starters
Very nice bag and I liked your load out and reason behind it. 👍
🥇😹
nothing "M55" about it. a new made M3 medic bag
I just don't like the bag....
There is nothing new or innovative about said M55 Haversack. It is pretty much a copy of the M3 Medic Roll-Out Bag. With a few minor exceptions. Others have also pointed this out.
