A few clips from Ripley Morris's annual Ale Feast, held in Ashover at the end of January 2025.
The dance clips in a way are not very representative of what went on - because there were at least eight 'standard' Cotswold dances in which I was up on the floor myself and so unable to shoot video.
This year, we had a fine meal provided by our 'in-house' caterers: musician Bennami and mum Anita aided by dancer Liz Carney.
I'd never heard of the Manx Scallop Dance, performed here solo by Roger Comely of Letchworth Morris, but you can find it performed as a set dance by a side from the Isle of Man on TH-cam.
A few songs are usually performed between the meal and dancing; usually the singers choose English traditional folk songs, but upstart side T'Owd Man chose a recent American song - it's quite amusing and can be found in full on TH-cam.
