    for a bit more security, you could replace the screws with carriage bolts and bolt them from the inside against a large metal washer or steel plate. that way they cant be pried out or snapped off like screws can. Screws do not have much shear strength.

      Thanks mate yep since filming this I have used round headed coach bolts and steel plates inside, it’s only a little demo for deterrent ideas, to hopefully inspire some others to do something. Thanks for watching my mate and I appreciate your feedback and comments 👍🏽😎 best wishes

    That’s a really good ideal and all screws are covered by the bar stopping anyone armed with a screwdriver great job mate

    • @MadDogSurvival
      @MadDogSurvival  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate! I know it’s not that strong and really isn’t designed to keep anyone out as such, but it will make a would be robber make more noise, which they don’t want to do, so therefore acts as a deterrent! Thanks for watching mate and I appreciate your kind words! Best wishes brother 👍🏽👍🏽😎

    I like the idea of just making use of what you have around. You've already answered the visible screws etc.. so easy to change to bolts.

      Thanks! Yep definitely worth doing! Best wishes friend 👍🏽👍🏽

      Actually, the screws are not visible when locked. They are covered by the long bar, when locked. The real problem is these 3 screws are a joke: A break bar will extract them in 3 seconds. When you replace them with 8-mm or 5/16 bolts, please make sure that they are secured by a good strong piece of plywood, or 2x6 board. Because if they are only held by the 12.7 mm (1/2 inch) siding, a break bar will extract the bolts together with the siding.

    Great idea. I have just finished erecting a new shed which will be a nice little workshop for me when I'm done and I've been thinking about how to better secure it other than what can be bought in the DIY stores. I think I will be nicking this idea :) Thanks for sharing. Atb Shaun

    Hi MDS ..... thanks for sharing - my adaptation of your design will be to weld some angle to some plate and bolt that thru the inner timber frame. Do that on both sides. Normal h/d padlock one side, motorbike disc alarm lock on the other (oxford also do an alarmed h/d padlock with 14mm shackle) :-). Thanks for putting your vids up! Stay safe :-)

    Good job; is the padlock bolt-cutter resistant? If not I recommend you get one so any potential thief would be forced to either smash the lock or bring a saw, which would obviously make a lot of noise and most likely deter a potential thief from even attempting a break-in.

    Cementing some metal box section upright in the floor inside the shed against the wall, then bolt the brackets into those from the outside instead of using plywood

    Where can I purchase one of those cameras you have.i need one that holds an sad card and can be hidden in my shed at the allotment as my door keeps getting smashed in.

    • @MadDogSurvival
      @MadDogSurvival  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ebay £20... but they require a 240volt supply! I used to have the same issue on my allotment I ended up just leaving my shed door open! They caused less damage that way! Scum bags! Best wishes friend

      In the US, we have what is called "game cameras" or "trail cameras" which might be what you need if the place where you need to put the camera does not have electrical power.

    Hi MD - padlocks ..... if you add nuts and washers to the shackle (as many as you can and still close it) then that will hinder bolt cropping and getting a croebar in to lever padlock open. Not my idea, but l am doing this and its effective. Cheers :-)

    Reciprocating saw and they'll be in right quick. But, for the typical burglar, they're moving on. Like it and would still use it, good and easy to do. Thank you for the video.

      whatever lock you have, they can come with a angle-grinder and cut it. Or just drill with a small silent drill the lock barrel of the lock because it is made of brass. You need special lock, made of hardened steel. But then, they may come with acetylene torch, or portable electroerosion machine... Or CO2 industrial laser (I have an app of such laser on my cellphone...)

      Yes like I said it’s a deterrent not a in passable device! There is also an alarm system, cameras and other security measures! So if you were to carry heavy blot croppers over my 6ft fences, around my heavily watched back yard, past my neighbors gaurd dogs, past my police linked alarmed, down my flood lit garden to my shed, bolt croppers still wouldn’t get you in cleanly! Thanks for watching!
