I agree with your feelings about the SRAM Rival 1x drivetrain. I have this drivetrain on my Kona Sutra ULTD and I love it. This bike is the first bike I had a chance to really use the Rival 1x and I was not disappointed. IMHO, the Rival hoods are as good as, if not better than, Shimano GRX and once you acclimate to the Double Tap shifting system, the shifting is awesome. As always, great review. Thanks.
Thanks for watching, Mark. I still think the GRX 810 levers/hoods have the best feeling and hold you in place the best, but it comes at a cost, for the money, Rival is hard to beat.
@@BIKEPACKINGcomis there a bike which you can actually use for bike packing and still ride pretty fast? I'm not sure about buying this bike or canyon grizzly
Not exactly a budget bike, pricewise it's closer to a mid to high entry level gravel ride, leaning well into the midrange of gravel prices. Great review. I've been lucky enough to get hold of one of the first 200 bikes. Interestingly I've had issues with the thru-axles too, but otherwise it has been brilliant. It is a very adaptable bike. I've not had any big issues on the downhills but then my previous bike was 72.5 deg HA and on much narrower tryes, so the 920 feels quite confident in comparison. Glad you got to grips with this one. I was surprised to see it listed in Alee Denham's list of 'best gravel bikes' recently and being based in London not too far from a Decathlon store or two I was curious to see if it was as good as it promises for an entry into gravel-specific bikes. If only they had stock!

Interesting bike. Really like the high stack for an upright position. I actually did the sram dub crankset swap on my bike but with 34t chain ring and really like it. I'm a heavy guy and going from 38t down to 34t made a big difference for hills. As a side note that rival derailleur can handle a bigger cassette too. I've seen the sunrace 11-46 cassette work without issue.
I was pretty set with the 32t for climbing seep pitches but once I add 30lb (13.6kg) of gear to the bike, I could see myself struggling with my 32/42 combo, and as I mentioned I was spun out a bunch. Not sure I get the point of riding that bike hard and unloaded. That twitchy front end will change once front panniers and perhaps even a randobag is attached to that fork. Looks like an amazing product for its intended use. Especially at that pricepoint.
To be honest, aside from the front end, the bike rides well without bags, but yes, we are excited to load it up and test it out to showcase how it rides in that situation. Stay Tuned.
Hi, complete novice here wondering can anyone please tell me... How would this 920 version compare with the cheaper and heavier RiversideTouring 900 if being used primarily for long distance bike touring trips? (I mean if this 920 was kitted out with the same pannier racks, tyres, etc) I understand that the 900 isn't designed for same kind of offroad usage as 920, but does the 900 have advantages over the 920 in terms of its frame being more robust ...or is it more specialised for long distance in some other ways maybe? Basically... What -if anything- has 900 got what 920 don't got? :)
Well the review is lovely but the actual review should have also pointed out that these things are the cycling equivalent of unicorns ... it’s not that they are rare, it’s not that they are limited availability outside france (I live in france) it is very simple. They actually do not exist from any point of view. They are not in stock in any shop in france, they are not available via internet order, when directly questioned, decathlon just say they are not available and point me to something else they do have which isn’t even close to the same thing In short, nice review of a product that is completely mythical as far as I can see in 2021
That bike isn't even showing up on their website. Any clue about tire clearance? Can you run a Rekon 2.8 on it? And what's with the zits on the chainstays? Two of them look like they are 2.5" apart, but the other one doesn't. Seems like a bit of randomness in the design....especially with the kickstand. The safest place for a bike is on the ground. Kickstands are convenient and I love the sound of the Greenfield on my Extracycle build, but c'mon.
Dave, here it is: www.decathlon.co.uk/p/touring-bike-riverside-touring-920/_/R-p-306383?mc=8543226&c=GREEN_KHAKI The odd spacing on their seat-stay mounts are for this: www.decathlon.fr/p/porte-bagage-arriere-touring/_/R-p-333521?mc=8646629 But you can also run a regular rack. It comes with 2.25" tires, but looking at clearance I bet you could fit something bigger, perhaps, a 2.5", but they do not have any information on their website. We will make sure to get that info for our long term review.

BIKEPACKING.com Sure. Love your work btw so not a hater. But just look with a disinterested viewpoint on your video. Even when you stand next to the bike the proportions are off. And video of you riding confirms. Perhaps that’s why ‘the bike is riding you’ and the handling is so-so. Hopefully the other reviewer is larger and can get a better read on the bike. That said, bought a bunch of Decathlon mountaineering and hiking clothing and gear this year. Ships quickly via USA site and with free shipping $30+ spend. Great quality at very affordable price. Their $89 puffy jacket gets me tons of compliments. Even the checker at the grocery store!! What? And stuff is quality. In fact DON’t tell anyone about them! 😂 www.decathlon.com/

Stay Tuned.
Decathlon ist a really good company.much bang for the buck
hey neil, is logan's long term review video out, I cant seem to find it? thanks!
Miles ended up getting it. bikepacking.com/bikes/decathlon-riverside-touring-920-review/
Hi, complete novice here wondering can anyone please tell me... How would this 920 version compare with the cheaper and heavier RiversideTouring 900 if being used primarily for long distance bike touring trips? (I mean if this 920 was kitted out with the same pannier racks, tyres, etc)
I understand that the 900 isn't designed for same kind of offroad usage as 920, but does the 900 have advantages over the 920 in terms of its frame being more robust ...or is it more specialised for long distance in some other ways maybe?
Basically... What -if anything- has 900 got what 920 don't got? :)
No where to be seen on the website I guess they stopped selling them or they run out of parts to build them?
Wow, Interesting.
thanks. Cool bike.
Well the review is lovely but the actual review should have also pointed out that these things are the cycling equivalent of unicorns ... it’s not that they are rare, it’s not that they are limited availability outside france (I live in france) it is very simple. They actually do not exist from any point of view. They are not in stock in any shop in france, they are not available via internet order, when directly questioned, decathlon just say they are not available and point me to something else they do have which isn’t even close to the same thing
In short, nice review of a product that is completely mythical as far as I can see in 2021
Loads of mounting points - so how would the bike handle when fully loaded?
I guess you're going to have to stay tuned to the full term review.
Hi I want to put crankset 40T what you suggest
Hello ...whiche size is this bike in your test?
That bike isn't even showing up on their website. Any clue about tire clearance? Can you run a Rekon 2.8 on it? And what's with the zits on the chainstays? Two of them look like they are 2.5" apart, but the other one doesn't. Seems like a bit of randomness in the design....especially with the kickstand. The safest place for a bike is on the ground. Kickstands are convenient and I love the sound of the Greenfield on my Extracycle build, but c'mon.
Dave, here it is: www.decathlon.co.uk/p/touring-bike-riverside-touring-920/_/R-p-306383?mc=8543226&c=GREEN_KHAKI
The odd spacing on their seat-stay mounts are for this: www.decathlon.fr/p/porte-bagage-arriere-touring/_/R-p-333521?mc=8646629
But you can also run a regular rack.
It comes with 2.25" tires, but looking at clearance I bet you could fit something bigger, perhaps, a 2.5", but they do not have any information on their website. We will make sure to get that info for our long term review.
@@BIKEPACKINGcom interesting rack. My OMM rack on my fatty makes it feel stiffer. That rack looks like it would change the stiffness A LOT!!
If the bike make it into the hands of the people, I'd say it would make an awesome Divide bike. Poor man's Fargo? Aluminum Cutthroat?
Great video.
Have you tested with luggage or a lot weight on?
Maybe the behavior is different because it was designed with a lot of mounts.
What makes the handlebars proprietary?
Is it good for daylie Bases ?
Looks better equipped than my Trek 920
At least the racks and panier miss
Can you give me the reference of Apidura frame bag we can see in the video ?
It's the backcountry series frame bag. Video on these bags coming soon. www.apidura.com/shop/backcountry-series/
I would recommend a m size for you
Where to find it in the USA? Please provide link. There are 2 physical stores in California, want to order it online.
I have one of the first 200, and supposed to be back unlimited March21
@@karlkrieg858 Awesome but where did you order it?
Is there any toe overlap?
Depends on foot and size of bike, but for me there was.
Wish this in Brazil
Like always with Decathlon, lifetime warranty IF you don't have any fall with it
Once the bike shows sign of a fall, no warranty
Which means no warranty in fact. Because it is widely known that riding a bicycle involves to FALL with it, if not frequently, more often !
True
What sort of road speeds can you get from this.
the rider provides the engine....
for me surely it has to be a surly, steel or no deal. for the money the 920 cost, buy a frame, and you can put xt components on it if you build it yourself!!! with most bikes your paying for brand name. nice review thow, and the 920 looks cool!
Wicked
Will they sell it to USA
Assume so as Decathlon has a few stores in California. However that is not confirmed and they do not have a set date of launch either, just that they expect it sometime this spring.
They have stores in Canada and I’ll be watching to see if the list them here. Miles and you do great reviews so remain excited.
cool
What’s the size tested?
He said it was size L.
@@LPlata that’s why it seems to be a little bigger for him..👍
since it seems more or less made for touring with a load, (bike packing.com)!! it would be informative to hear about its performance - with a load....
Hey Greg, thanks so much for watching my first impressions review. We have a long term review coming, as I said in the video. Personally, I don’t bikepack every time I pedal a bike, do you? This video is to share it’s usability outside of a bikepacking setting.
Droolworthy. But still not available across Europe. So it ain’t just America that’s waiting the painful wait..
2000$ for this bike...!? U can buy the Cube Nuroad for 1000€ which probably 1400$
....if this is not a copy of the Cube Nuroad....!?
No it has massive Tyr clearance, 60mm, Deore XT Dynamo hub, 170kg system weight, sram rival
@@matti1412 At least the name "920" is a copy of a similar Trek bike :-/
4 years needed tot copy a Trek920 even the number 920 is coppied 😂. Still it is a nice build and it will be good value for money.
I stick with my Trek920
dont know if it is just camera angle but seattube angle looks too slack
Decathlon will screw greedy bike brands like Spec, Trek, Giant, Merida etc. ;)
£1,499,99 isn’t budget !
No way you can still get these. Sold out and doesn't seem to be getting a restock...
woah! usb port!
Marin 4 Corners in AL)))
Marin 4 corners will not accept 29x2.4" :)
looks like a traction frame
La bici è bellissima, bello anche il video però....
Però non capisco in decathlon è introvabile , non ce ne sono. Non esistono. Allora per tutti, non solo questo video, fanno recensioni do una bici che non si può avere?
Ciao 🤟
That ain’t budget. It’s 3x there budget road bike price
well a good thing needs time or in german "guting braucht weile"🤣
"guting" ?!? "Gut Ding", Du Komiker!! 🤣🤣
Too bad they're all already sold out and they're not going to play them
Touring bike on aluminium, not on steel? Strange
i thought that also about two years ago, but not anymore since i got my two new aluminium travel bikes
Proper touring/bikepacking should have triple system transmission in the front, not single system
Maybe for the road, but when we talk about off road riding, that’s not entirely true.
That bike looks way too big for you.
It's a long bike, I likely could have fit a medium but their size chart suggests I'm a large and I went with that, I never actually felt like the bike was too big.
Save for the ugly welds, the front end looks fairly handsome. But the rear end, especially the seatstays, are damn ugly. That seatstay bottom curve, yikes!
